      So nice of you, lack of own footage in the beginning drove me to this path but I soon found out that people wanted more than the endless orange footage, and for me, it's just way more fun to do it this way since I'm also educating my self about my country while I'm at this :) so it's way more to come...

    Ha! I am in your video at 0:55. I'm in the blue jacket with green hood.
    I arrived home last night. I am waiting for my (just uploaded) first bit of drone footage to process from later this same evening.
    I cannot wait to return. Perhaps in April. It was amazing to witness the changes that occurred over only 7 days. I share your concern for everyone between it and the coast.
    I always love your videos! Thanks!

    You should not worry about your channel. There is so much excitement in Iceland’s Volcanic history and FUTURE to talk about. The Krýsuvík-Trölladyngja volcanic system for example, has so much potential for both Glacier Melting & Volcanic eruption discussion. Many, many people who love this volcano, will also love that system’s exciting geology too. Your explanation are very interesting with lots of easy to understand science & history. Thanks 🙏🏼

Archeology (funny scene of excavations); economic (breeding, housing and transport); historical and geographical events (the general situation and specific sites are well linked) and civil security (risks): all these aspects that you present give an excellent overview of this phenomenon and its consequences to come. I love hearing about the 'bigger picture' of the impact of the Volcano on the geology and the local community. Fantastic to be able to see the drama of what's going on and hear informed explanations. Thank you for bringing the world into view in this pandemic when we mustn't travel!

      Absolutely, what they are doing now will only hold if the eruption will come to an end in the next months, or 1-2 year. After that it's totally out of our hand, and thanks for visiting :)

    63 million cubic meters of lava so far. To put that into context, the May-Sept of 2018 eruption in the lower east rift zone of Kilauea on the island of Hawaii generated 1.03 billion cubic meters. It will be fascinating to see how much lava this eruption will output if it indeed goes on for years.

      This whole thing has been a learning experience to me. What I want to know is, WHO in the hell is measuring the lava flow and how in the hell are you doing it? exactly? :O

    • @carolynchadwick7867
      @carolynchadwick7867 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Meowskiii geologists, volcanologists, physicists, & many more -ists using innumerable computers, & other equipment & supplies. Have you seen some of them at the lava flows, taking lava & gas samples, temperature measurements etc.?

    • @amaureaLua
      @amaureaLua 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was 63 million cubic meters on June 11th. The flow rate is 12 m³/s, so by June 15th it would have been 67 million cubic meters, and by June 20th, which is when I'm making this comment, it would be 72 million cubic meters. Large eruptions are usually measured in cubic kilometers. 72 million cubic meters is 0.072 cubic kilometers, so it is quite modest so far. For comparison, the Holhraun eruption 7 years ago in Iceland was about 1 cubic km, and had a peak flow rate of 90 m³/s. Sadly it was in a much less accessible location.

    Thank you for such a thoughtful and hones vlog. I have been fascinated buy the great amount of Lava I have seen so far. But you post was very sobering. The prospect of this much lava continuing for years is a reality check I had not considered. I hope your government and fellow citizens are up to the challenges ahead. I subscribed today and will look forward to your upcoming posts. Good Luck to yourself, your family, and your neighbors.

    thanks for continuing with the thoughtful and 'scientific' approach rather than the more sensational approaches of others...if this goes on for a few years or decades, you will have built up a strong historical researchable archive for others to learn from. keep up the good work.

      Thanks a lot, that was in a way the idea for the complete channel in the beginning, or a kind of archive about Iceland but then it took off big time when the eruption started so I'm seeing it better now how important it could be to capture and store footage of the land thats going now under lava forever so it will for sure keep me going, and thanks for visiting :)
