Gylfi, thank you for always looking at things from a brighter side, than dumping the gloom, and doom other channels tend to do. It is amazing to see some green growth on the new earth near Grindavík, keep up the awesome work, and keep them coming.
maybe part of the reason us that certain other channels are located far away and lack down-to-earth-connection with local conditions... though at least some foreign channels probably also just enjoy the drama (and renumeration for clickbaits)

This video brought a tear to my eyes seeing the town of Grindavik come to life again around the harbour. Thank you for sharing this sign of hope and the people of this beautiful town are in my thoughts. I have been watching from Scotland this amazing story unfolding over the past year.
Gylfi, it is always good hearing your soothing and relaxing voice. That, coupled with great videography, is a total win for those of us who want to learn more about your beautiful country.
Your current Grindavik video tour is certainly a warming and heartfelt testimony to the hardy and optimistic nature of the people of Grindavik (and Icelanders in general), whose businesses continue to produce products and services, and who attempt to thrive once again under conditions brought on by threat of further volcano-related events. Great update! I truly appreciate it from an arm-chair tourist perspective (from Ontario, Canada). It was wonderful to see tourists and human activity in Grindavik once again. Thanks so much, Gylfi.
Beautiful footage. Nice to see snow hasn’t started yet. Opening Grindavik for tourists is bittersweet. We all want the residents to return but we know it’s not a good idea. I’m so happy to hear you managed to eat the best fish and chips !! I will never forget the amazing fresh quality of the fish I had in Iceland when I was there last June. Thank you Gilfy! You have a lot of loyal followers.
@Just Icelandic • Gylfi: Thanks so much for the update on Grindavik. There's something so heartbreaking about a small town like this being torn apart by the lava. I'm glad that it has at least been opened for tourists. I'm also glad the port is working. Your photography is fantastic from the drone and thermal videos to the still photo of that perfectly cooked fish & chips. Stay safe. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thx for your comments. I agree with Gilfy. Their fish and chips were the best I’ve ever eaten. Grindavik is a lovely town to live, work and raise a family in. I hope one day even years from now people can return.
I saw the news that Grindavik was open again. Brilliant news, even though it is a limited opening. So nice to have your visual account for perspective. Just seeing those fishing and service industries able to start back up is excellent! Oh, at 3:58, I thought the digital sign read 36C. What?! - ah, 3.6C. Whew! 😀
But no snow yet. That would make me happy if I lived there. Although Icelanders excel at embracing or at least accepting what their winter weather offers them.
Thank you for the video. Visiting your homeland was such a wonderful experience, and it hurts to see the damage, pain and chaos, but it's heartwarming to see how you all cope and move on. Icelanders are strong people because they have to be. Greetings from the US.
Good evening Gylfi. Greetings from the Netherlands. I hope Grindavik will be spared so people can live there again soon. Thanks for the info. Stay safe.

Another wonderful video Gylfi. Your footage panning out from the town at about 2.20 is a stark reminder of how extensive the ground cracking is and how dangerous it could be to walk where you are not allowed.
Thank you for the amazing videos and wonderful news. I've been watching since last year and I am thrilled to see there is life after crisis. That fish and chips looks like must do for the future. Also a great favorite in South Africa 😊
Thank you Gylfi it's good to hear Grindavik town is back open. I've been watching the seismic grafts especially the Svartsengi one, I'm think the next eruption will be more towards December than November, I really hope it doesn't erupt near to any infrastructures.
Hi there fellow Canadian. I had the good fortune to visit Iceland this June. It was an amazing unforgettable experience. We somehow managed to drive past Grindavik on our way to Blue Lagoon. What a touching video about the reopening of Grindavik and positive video. Congratulations on your new drone. This is a nice teaser about your future videos about the town. It is somewhat ironic that the harbor there is likely due to the geologic processes of magma intrusions beneath that area over thousands of years but the latest episode of magma intrusion caused the town to be closed for almost a year. I understand that most people who owned houses before November 2023 have now sold their houses to the government and moved to other places less likely to have future magma and lava problems, but it is good that they were able to open some (or many?) of the service businesses for tourists and the workers at the fish processing plants. It is also good to hear that at least a few homes are now occupied. Presumably those were in areas less affected by the new fissures.
Thank you my dear friend Gylfi...These people from Grindavik must be 💔 💔...and to have tourists come in I imagine make them feel like camera fodder...it is a small mercy that the harbour is still coping as well as it dose...lessings from Scotland...😃🌠
It must be hard to see the harbor active, and knowing moving back is not going to be an option any time soon...I know I would find that difficult. But then how many people can actually say that they were first hand witnesses to their country birthing new land...which although concerning, is still so fascinating. As always stay safe...God bless...
Changes in geothermal activity for no obvious reason from nearby systems and it's not considered to be a big event around here, although it might need change how close the tourists can get to Strokkur and other hot springs in the region.
