  • Update: The Note about filters only lasting 6 months refers solely to charcoal filters - not the static filters shown in this video.
    Just a quick video looking at the features and benefits of having a proper ducted spray booth in my hobby workstation. This is probably not for everyone, but if you are looking to take air filtration and extraction seriously in your hobby space - This is certainly one unit to consider!

      Hah, thanks man. I actually had this uploaded back in March, I just forgot to make it live…. It’s been unlisted and visible on their website for months!
      What I was looking at was a proper vent system with heat exchanger. But I’m stuck in my garage with less room every day

    For anyone with really basic practical skills could just buy the filters and make the unit. The cost there charging is anough incentive to have a go yourself.

    Looks great! Some of the simpler ones are also not suitable for "flammable" paint, whereas these are suitable for all commonly used paints, including those that are flammable.

    Yeah i got this one a few months ago and it is great. It is the kind of piece of kit that you also can reuse if you have any other kind of DIY hobby with fumes.
    Solid, well built, the metal assembly is really good and not cheap thin sheet, so it will survive long. All in all, strong recommendation if you can spend the dough and want something definitely long term and "high quality". If all you want is bang for bucks, there are more DIY or cheaper solutions, but this is for the people that prefer a Leatherman to a cheap multitool. Different crowds.

    Man your timing couldnt have been any better. Just got my first 3d reain printer for christmas (why i found your channel) and as a model railroader im constantly airbrushing and soldering, now with a 3d printer on the same bench, its time to look into a ventilation system (i knew this ahead of time and place it right where theres a basement window that was replaced with plywood by the previous owner) and this would be the perfect solution. However, the price, and being state side.....ill keep looking 😒😔 if it was $300 to my door id be all over it.

    I do like seeing this. It is a neat product but I am not sure it is for me. Lately I have been looking into the new wave of water curtain booths and they come in a bit cheaper than this with their triple fans providing similar air flow. Thanks for showing this off as I am adding it to my consideration now for a possible upgrade.

    I honestly would recommend something like the vevor FL250 or fl180 over this for the price. Especially if u make a booth/box to hook up to it to get a negative pressure.
    I personally use it for soldering and recently hooked it up to my elegoo saturn works like a charm, is affordable and mobile!

    I bought a 20x20 box fan for $20 and some 20x20 AC filters. When you turn the fan on, the suction is so strong it holds the AC filters in place against the fan. You don't need a box but can use a large cardboard box if needed. I still use this setup today and have been painting my models this way for years. Nothing will beat the power or price of this setup. I only use lacquer paints and with this setup you don't need a mask. As long as you can't smell the paint, you are not breathing it. It does however need to be outside or in the garage like me.

    • @B4MBI72
      @B4MBI72 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I bought an inline fan that was sold for growing weed and the air flow through it amazing, built a box out of foam board to hold a filter and mounted some led tape inside. The whole thing cost me about £80 with all the ducting etc to vent it outside. I only use acrylics so an explosion proof fan wasn't an issue for me, but that said they are not 'that' much more money. If you cant vent outside and are only using acrylics you can just use a really long bit of ducting coiled up as the exhaust and almost all of the particulates will have settled before the air reaches the end of the ducting.

    Hi Ross - how loud is this unit? I was amazed to discover that they're actually available in Australia, though for around 5x the cost of my Chinese plastic unit. That unit isn't large enough for my needs, however, so I'm seriously considering this one, and just using it without the hood.

    If money was no issue then this looks like a good shout. For now I'll stick to my generic Amazon booth, my Levoit air filter (I think this is the best buy I've made for mine/my household's lungs in relation to fall out from my hobbying) and my FFP3 mask.

      @ZeeLobby yeah it's my daily right now. I originally wanted the kaizo waterfall spray booth with the airbrush holder on the side but it was always on preorder and I didn't trust the standard Amazon versions. When Barbatos Rex did a video on it the Gaahleri and seen how cheap it was. I jumped right on it.

    • @ZeeLobby
      @ZeeLobby 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bacawaka2813 Just ordered XD. Feel like there's so little advancement in budget spray booths. Honestly the one in this vid looks identical to many of the cheaper ones. Even when he opens it up it's got the same single fan exhaust. But the Gaahleri looks like it's got a couple advancements. I also like that it's slightly raised from the table too. I checked out the kaizo as well, haha. But I feel like I trust a spray booth from a company that makes well reviewed airbrushes instead.

    Ross, on Amazon I purchased this: “WEN 3410 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Air Filtration System” in addition to my spray booth.
    The thought was, running it a couple times a week will keep my shop relatively dust free. (We all want clean spaces for painted items to dry but we don’t want to clean) So far it has worked for me. I have it hanging from the ceiling, out of the way. And for a little over a hundred bucks, I think it’s worth it. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps keep things clean.
    And then do a kool video on it 🤷🏻‍♂️

    G'day Mr Hammer m8.....i had to build mine as im on a disability pension, so i have a 50lt tote box...and in on the left hand side i used a Bathroom Electric vent with a barrel fan that takes the air and push's it out the side of it, so fumes dont get near the motor and running out a flex pipe to my window. its 240v fan unit so it pulls a lot of air, its so good i can do fine sanding and it sucks all particals up as well and has cost me about $120AUD to build. One last thing i have a chinese airbrush but would like something better quality, what do you recommend for a starter. Cheers and Kind Regards From Downunder🙃

    I just use a stick and double sided tape and do it outside. you don't want those gasses inside despite the ventilation.
    also the stick is way better than any static setup any way as you can turn it as you spray.
    you can even get a fancy gw version with rubberbands if you want

      @@FauxHammer a fan that moves slightly more air into the room than the exhaust fan. I ran a window fan on low facing inwards and a 120mm computer fan for exhaust and it worked perfectly. Not a hint smell in the room

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrHeHim ah right, so yeah I need more air pushed into the room than it extracts or it will create negative pressure and therefore there isn't enough airflow for it to suck anything out.

    I want to eco another comment in here that if you’re halfway handy, you can do a little research and make your own for far less money. I built a 5 foot wide, 1 1/2 foot tall and 1 1/2 foot deep ducked booth for my shop. It uses filters and has nice bright LED lights in the top. It moves a lot of air, slowly. Literally creating a nice little air flow from one end of the room out the other. Not enough to feel, but all fumes and particulates head out that way. (You don’t want a draft so strong you blow out your furnace pilot or create negative pressure in your house.) This lets me paint just about anywhere I want. (I do still wear a respirator and everyone should) but there’s no fumes. I also set my resin prints in the booth to dry since there’s a gentle airflow over them. They dry much faster than if I don’t do this.
    Again, just a thought if you are handy and able.

    Just bought the m5s and for me prints are awesome. I only switched to vat tank from m5, cause i don't need speed. My first printer is Mono m3, and in comparison to this, prints from m5s is sharper, than m3. 40 microns vs 24 microns. Never had m3 premium, but i think, that all vendors use the 14k display as upgrade kit for all 12k printers (screen from Nova3D Whale 3 ultra), and this will increase sharpness of all prints.〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜
