    As much as I like your individual reviews, I do really like the comparison ones, it really helps put into perspective the different keyboards, especially for those of us looking at these keyboards and trying to better figure out what we want to invest in! I'm not about to have 20 keyboards, lol, have to be selective and when individual reviews tend to be very hype hype hype, it gets hard to understand what makes one different from another~! So thank you for this review! Is very helpful!

    The Neo65 should get WAY more points simply for being the only keyboard here that supports VIA with the tri-mode PCB. That alone makes it 100x better.

    IMO i think the haimu raw's sound is pretty mild it self! Maybe you should try different switches on the neo65 to get a different result?

    • @JustSomeGuy009
      @JustSomeGuy009 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. He states he used these switches as if he thought they were a good choice if looking for a pronounced sound. But everything I've ever seen says they are muted sooo why the surprise? Doing sound tests where literally every factor is different just seems dumb at best and disingenuous at worst.

    • @GlitteratiLobotomy808
      @GlitteratiLobotomy808 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel shipping costs (or at least an average) should really be factored into discussions on pricing. Also, the only Neo65 that goes for 80 (before shipping) is soldered and plateless, and I have a feeling that will be one of the least popular options.

    • @JustSomeGuy009
      @JustSomeGuy009 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlitteratiLobotomy808very true. Although even with options the neo65 is probably going to be a 120 or less board plus shipping. There's not much that actually ships under $150 in the custom space it seems. The cycle7 is easily a $200-220 board shipped in the US.

      @noddy5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Th0rNe true, but the main attraction of this board is, especially on youtube, that it's a sub $150 board. Would've been more understandable if it's around $20, or max $25 to the US like the zoom75.

    • @Th0rNe
      @Th0rNe ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@noddy5 40-80€ unfortunately is the regular shippingrate to ship from US to Europe. 40 is actually a good price considering it's a keeb. I've had keysets that cost that much.

    Do you have the alu plate for the Neo65? Would love to know how it sounds with an alu plate!

I have it in mint with long pole tactiles and osume mochi mint caps and it not only sounds and feels amazing, it looks great. Honestly they're probably my go-to company for anyone that wants a bit more hands-on and premium experience from a keyboard without breaking bank.

    I like the concept of this video, but I don't quite agree with how the ranking/scoring system was implemented. I think it would be better to give them each an independent score because sometimes the gap between X and Y keyboard can be really tiny in one aspect, and huge in another. Making each delta always equal to 1 removes a lot of the nuance (and also, doesn't allow for ties)
    If you gave every board some arbitrary score out of 5 (which you could still isolate to the boards, switches etc. being compared where your favorite was 5 and the worst was 0 or 1, there would be a lot more room for comparisons in a hobby whose foundation is built on preference and small differences

    Even if you like one of these more than the other, you have to admit that boards in this price range are significant improvements than boards in this price range in the past.
    We were amazed at the QK65 for what it brought for the price, same with the Frog TKL, and now, we're seeing real competition with the Neos and Cycles of the world. All for affordable kits! Thanks for the vid as always, Scott.

    A few years ago when I bought my first non-prebuilt board I had sub 100 dollar budget and it seemed like the only two options for a full hotswap board were a GMMK or a GK61, so the idea of a full metal 65% with a weight for 80 dollars just shows how much the hobby has innovated in a couple of years.

    Scott! I usually love your scientific approach in your keyboard content, but I believe you missed the mark on this one. It would've been great to hear all 4 boards with the same switches and plate material in attempt to eliminate all variables. Still very entertaining as always!

    • @IIIdarksaberIII
      @IIIdarksaberIII ปีที่แล้ว

      I think having the 4 boards with the same switches and plate material would introduce a major variable, which is that boards are generally designed to sound a specific way, and a board might get dinged for being designed for a sound that didn't get tested.
      For example, the choice65 seems intended to be used with some foam. But if someone only wants to buy a board that sounds good foam-less, then Scott doing all the sound tests with foam would make this entire review useless

  • @morytox
    @morytox 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Since you just tried the recommended setup, which is highly subjective, its difficult to draw a specific conclusion regarding sound right? Maybe you are missing one extra category like sound flexibility, how good it can be customized to your liking soundwise? Otherwise great video also i like the comp aspect.

    hate to be that guy, but add like $30-$50 on all the price tags here if youre in the US. thats how much i found shipping to be, although some of these boards seem like great value even after the shipping cost

    If you try the gasket mount on Neo65, the sound and feel maybe surpass the cycle7. The oring is just for a new experience - an innovation point which non of the others have.

    Have you tried the Neo 65 with foams? Curious to hear how it compares to the Cycle7 since all the sound tests I'm seeing for it are foamless.

    The fact that their groupbuys are all happening is really good for viewer looking to get one of these.
    A nice followup comparison would be something from the in-stock choices that are out there just to give folks an idea of what they might be sacrificing over waiting for a board. The Akko M1W, Leobog Hi75, and Xinmeng M71 seem to be the latest in stock competition.

      CIDOO V65 v2 (or other names) and V75 (LMK81). None of these channels want to cover them because they need to push the group buy scarcity boards. These other boards threaten that world.

    • @albertko1
      @albertko1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustSomeGuy009 Creators are covering those boards but some that I mentioned are too new for creators outside of East Asia to cover them. I don't feel they really don't threaten these groupbuy boards... the groupbuys offer way more customization and choice than these products. While I enjoy those products for their availability, they are definitely not perfect and do have tradeoffs (the V65's low typing angle and crappy stabs), I feel it's still good to talk about them since no everyone can afford to wait or buy a more expensive groupbuy custom.

    Looking into those raw switches you used in the neo 65 it sure seems like they are noted to have a less pronounced and lower subdued sound. More proof that sound tests are pointless especially when things are completely inconsistent between boards.

    I don't think that having foam for the sound tests is a good idea, maybe i'd be better without foam so the characteristics of the board stand out.
