Topped thistles with 1 when I was younger .... never mowed full field...I'm surprised how fast you can crack on..ant the grass lasts in a well spread swath...good job...good video...👍

got the same tractor here in the states. thanks for posting these videos. never seen that type of mower before. looks like it would be great for laying my cover crops over.

Just got myself a finger mower for my '47 Fergie T20 and was wondering how best to use it on my 14 acres. The 'proper' farmer next door, and all his kids, usually come out to watch and laugh at my attempts to use unfamiliar machinery (my first attempt at ploughing was hilarious to them!). Your video might just have saved me from being a laughing stock for once. Thanks!

Just had a Contractor mow a few fields around here. He used a 140hp New Holland with 2 conditioning mowers, one front and one rear. He left the uncut grass over 4 inches long. Back in the day when I used the Finger bar mowers, we got it down to 1/2 to 1 inch high, and occasionally took some soil bumps as well.

What gear were you cutting in? We’re thinking of trying one of these with our b414 but our second gear makes a noise so we would have to cut in 3rd gear.

Sickle bars are good for dryer climates like the southern United States for example. I would use a disc mower or rotary mower for the hay you were cutting

i think your problem is the grass is very green and soft ,, down this end of the country they used to leave the grass till the heads bowed thus the grass was dryer and the stems stiffer plus the seeds used to drop out and reseed the field so the pasture never got tired out wet grass and finger bar mowers do not get on
    all the best
