it's be nice to do all that again as in my previous life. the smell of fresh cut grass, the steady pace of mowing and mislaying the sickle bar cover

Always nice see a vintage/classic tractor with a period correct implement actually doing a proper job rather than sitting at a show looking pretty

the thing is though, some tractors can't work anymore. My dad owns a 1958 MAN, and with the injectors and pistons being massively worn, doing actual work would eventually kill the machine.
Myself, I just bought myself a Dexta with completely ruined Pistons, let alone the rest of the engine. I'll fix the piston issue, but I'd rather restore it and keep it for coming generations to see and enjoy, instead of working itself to death.
Not saying I'm disagreeing with you though. But some engines are, at some point, simply done and deserve retirement.

Ford sold that same mower here in the States under their own name as the Model 501.

Really not sure I am afraid, they produced them for a long period of time and no doubt changed them subtly as time passed.

Do a better job with a little more ground speed, or is that just the Australian way.
