    since you're asking for comments, I think Laelia is the clear pick since she's a house in UR as well as aggro. excited to see how the games go =)

    Probably wouldn’t have taken the breach as it didn’t seem to fit what you were doing, probably as you were considering during the draft dig and miscalculation were probably the better choices however it was a difficult draft with a lots of decisions.
    Your draws were not kind and your opponents deck was insane and probably very difficult to beat in any circumstances.
    Thanks for the content Reid, especially posting games where do don’t end up doing so well, makes us realise you are humans as well!

    I am not sure there was anything to be done about this draft considering the opponent's deck. I think the only thing I might've done differently in your shoes was take the triome over the breach. I think at that point it just made more sense to buckle down and try and be a twin deck. Without either, or both of, Frantic Search and Brain Freeze(one of which wasn't taken in pack two, and the other wasn't seen at all iirc), I just don't think Breach is something I want to put in my deck. Admittedly it did a good job scraping a win out of a hopeless game 1, but it was pretty dead in the other two games.
    Like you said though, really hard draft position to figure out what is the most correct way. Was definitely a fun watch!

  • @johnh3660
    @johnh3660 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Haven't watched the games yet but I think you nailed the draft and deck building! Your reasoning for taking Pestermite(?) over Tinker makes perfect sense and I agree playing subpar artifacts would've weakened your deck. Same for Urza over Academy. And I was really happy to see Goldspan make the cut--hope you land it turn 2!

  • @julesdebeure7286
    @julesdebeure7286 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems to be an awesome deck. I'm no good enough to make any adjustment on your deck but I would go for Dig over Fact maybe.
    Each cube, draft or game you play is just a masterclass. Luis, Gabriel, Jean-Emmanuel and you are great teachers.

  • @nathanielwalker5581
    @nathanielwalker5581 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting draft and build. I would've built around the twin plan differently, cutting Mastermind, Iconoclast, Urza for Rona, Dig and an 18th land (17 colored sources + strip as 18th land in a spell slot). To me this focuses the build more on finding the combo and enabling the GY synergies to do so.

    • @nathanielwalker5581
      @nathanielwalker5581 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe Urza is better than the 18th land since it also produces mana. This deck just doesn't seem to support Urza all that well, but maybe too powerful to cut?

  • @brianh5844
    @brianh5844 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Before seeing the rest of the video so I don't end up being results oriented:
    I would include at least one more talisman because your mana is so bad. The ramp is relevant alongside the fixing. I just want more than 9 sources of each color, the color requirements in your deck are pretty demanding and you won't always draw lotus. Plus, you have Urza in your deck. Getting extra artifacts in there is nice, and it's not like you're forcing it: you have a high curve and high color requirements.
    I don't think I'd play breach because it's basically only good when you draw lotus, and you probably win those games anyway. I'd just play the dig instead. It lines up a win even when you don't have a black lotus in your graveyard, whereas if you have a stocked graveyard but it's counterspells, burn, and card draw, you need quite a bit of mana to get any value, whereas dig only needs 2.
    So I'd say -1 breach, -1 fact or fiction (it is a bit slow, and you'll never get both of the combo pieces from it), +1 talisman, +1 dig. I also really wanted to see Laelia over Subtlety in the draft. Subtlety is a great card Laelia just feels like it's on a different tier to me. I would even have considered lotus petal. You have 4 pieces of a 2-card combo, so being a turn quicker can be worth a lot in such a fast format, and with Urza it's like a mox. It's also just a double color mana source which again, I feel like your mana is so poor that it's worth having card disadvantage for ramp and fixing that can come in at an opportune time. That being said, I don't know what I'd cut for it. Maybe Goldspan? It's a great card, but your deck should win the game on 5 mana most of the time, so it might be redundant.
    edit: after watching, well, it's funny that you drew both my suggested cuts in games 1 and 3, but I don't think the situation would have been any better for you, and you might not have won the first game without the breach. Your deck was great, but opponent's deck seemed completely busted and they had great draws as well.

  • @g.n.s.
    @g.n.s. ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah I totally agree with your decision(s) to both take and cut Tinker. Honestly you drafted almost identically to what I would’ve chosen, given your specific pool of packs. To add to my first point, I think you could have POTENTIALLY pulled off a more Artifact heavy/Tinker deck assuming you started with Goldspan/Bonecrusher and Black Lotus and Tinker.

  • @carlosa85
    @carlosa85 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I would have picked the tinker and, as you explained, end up with a terrible deck. And yes, Titan of Industry's abilty would have fizzled since all its targets would have been illegal. Thanks for the vids!

    @Scotterbotter331 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Since you asked, I would have played Rona, Clique, all three Talismans and 16 lands. Talismans fix your high red cards, clique checks for combo safety, Rona digs for combo. Fof is expensive and can split your combo up, breach is only good with 2 or 3 cards and doesn't infinite. Let's see how it goes!!

  • @marknicklason
    @marknicklason ปีที่แล้ว

    For a comment on the deckbuilding, 1 of those offcolor talismans might have been good. Red for kiki, arti for urza, accelerating combo a turn. Maybe both even. You are better at this than me, but you asked for comments!

    I think after the Urza pick, I'd have been looking to maximize the artifacts, especially as you had ins for Iconoclast, Saheeli, and Walking Ballista; there was a very fast, powerful artifact deck to have here, especially if you took the early upheaval

  • @martin87urquiza
    @martin87urquiza ปีที่แล้ว

    I think i would have speculated a bit on saheeli once i have urza, those two go really well together, and since later on you got passed a bunch of good artifact synergies, i would have gone down that route. Like, you even could have gotten a really late LED over a spellpierce, and that plus black lotus and breach is just awesome, and i think i would have gone for the tinker too, tho thats a bit more sketchy i guess.

  • @SindarinElealar
    @SindarinElealar ปีที่แล้ว

    Passing that Tinker when you have Bolas's Citadel AND Blightsteel just can't be right. Pestermite/Twin is such a fragile combo too while Tinker is a one-card combo that just needs any artifact in play and you already have a decent amount.

  • @barnic45
    @barnic45 ปีที่แล้ว

    i wouldve picked the triome for sure and probably wouldve played the dig to help get the combo faster......like you said very difficult draft with a lot of turning points. I definitely would have taken tinker over pestermite. You already had the blightsteel and a solid artifact base.
    I also would have picked laelia over subletey just because a t1 laelia off lotus will win most games.
    Tough draft though, there is a parallel universe where you have an absolutely busted mono white deck with strip mine, skyclave, spellbinder, ancient tomb, parallax wave, reprieve, lotus. The packs just lined up weird.

    Doubt I would have ever ended up with a cohesive strategy like you did, but on really specific points it wouldn't have bothered me if you passed Breach and those cards don't look like they can make Breach anything more than a regrowth on a consistent basis. It irked me when you took the breach. Laelia seems to be the other controversy point, taking her would've been fine. Tinker maybe I would have taken because it really would be auto-wins.
