    man, i love how differently Reid evaluates certain cards from so many people. “Wow, Elvish Mystic wheeled!”

    • @ryanmoon05
      @ryanmoon05 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I don't think he is saying elvish mystic is a powerful card in a vacuum, it's just a huge signal that no one is drafting green if it wheeled compared to what was taken in the pack.

    • @joelchatfield4250
      @joelchatfield4250 ปีที่แล้ว

      so mystic isn't broken but any mana dork is really good in cube and green ramp is one of the best fair decks in cube, especially if you splash blue or black for some unfair stuff like tutor, recall or oko

      Quite the understatement. I don't think many people would take Jitte over Palace Jailer either.

      Niv is so bad in the vintage cube I don't think I've ever seen that guy draw more than like 2 cards. I've seen him brick way more often than being good.

    Only at M1G2 so far, but I 100% agree with siding in big Elesh Norn. You were siding into a bigger more midrangey mono white, and it doesn't get much bigger than Elesh Norn. Also, in the worst case scenario you can pitch it to Chrome Mox, Solitude, and even March of Otherworldly Light. So even when it's stuck in your hand it can do more than just sit there.

    • @renzuki5830
      @renzuki5830 ปีที่แล้ว

      7 drops are barely playable in low powered limited formats without ramp or card draw. As far as I can tell not a single game played reached 7 lands. Imo it's marginal at best, the only way to realistically reach it is if you draw cards with skull clamp prior which is the only reason you'd put it in. I actually think it has negative synergy with chrome mox (yes you can pitch it early, but also if you pitch something else youll never reach 7 lands + another card. Same goes for strip mine. I don't think it's a terrible choice either, but I'm fairly certain you are lowering your winrate by putting it in.
      You can also pretty much gauge by his reaction while putting it in that the pro player in him wouldn't do that in a high stakes tournament. It's a fun one though :)

    • @LucianDevine
      @LucianDevine ปีที่แล้ว

      @@renzuki5830 He senses that it was going to be a midrange vs midrange game 2, and he wanted to go bigger. He hit 7 mana sources game 2, 6 since he did a turn 1 Strip Mine. So the game went long enough and was grindy enough that an Elesh Norn would have turned the tables on the board state big time. I only meant to use it for that M1G2, siding it in.

    • @renzuki5830
      @renzuki5830 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LucianDevine He had 6 mana sources. You can't count a strip mine if it has been used. Plus he already has lethal on board when he played the 6th mana source. So yes technically in that exact game if his last card would have been elesh norn and he drew another land and his opponent would have removed a creature (or both) it would have been a strong play. Which is still too situational in my book.
      I'm still 100% on board with my previous analysis. Seriously look at his reaction when he sides it in, he even says that it's "pushing it". He knows it.
      If anything in terms of winrate it's a fairly marginal decision, even if I was wrong on it lowering your winrate.

    1:05:31 I think opponent not taking the Chrome Mox here with Dack was a pretty big mistake: 1st opp missed land drops, 2nd Dack was going down, no matter what due to the flyer, 3rd Construct held back the golem just fine, given the board state and - maybe most importantly - Paradoxical Outcome probably in hand, but definetly somewhere in the deck (it's not like bouncing chrome mox back to Reid's hand would actually give him a card back)

    Love your drafts and your take on the draft picks compared to other players. I do have one complaint from this video, and I hope you can make changes for future videos. The quality of the video was quite bad, it made it hard for me to focus on the screen. Would it be possible to make the cards bigger and the quality better for future videos?

      It isn't better than Gideon or the Wandering Emperor either.

    • @officialCannisMajoris
      @officialCannisMajoris ปีที่แล้ว

      The token is definitely better! The pump is as well better but the downside is a -2 instead of a plus 1. And the ultimate ability is way better on archangel Elspeth and easier to do! So I do think archangel Elspeth is better indeed

    • @SecretShotgun
      @SecretShotgun ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Cannis Majoris maybe format dependent, but overall, the lack of flexibility to either jump+pump or make a body any turn makes a huge difference for Death and Taxes and other decks. Having played with her in limited as well as Canadian Highlander, I can easily say you feel the -2, which leaves her way too open to burn or attacks.

    • @officialCannisMajoris
      @officialCannisMajoris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SecretShotgun makes sense! A -2 is of course a lot! But it must be that way since she buffs the creature permanently! But this one actually have an ultimate ability while the errant did not! I mean another token and another +3/+3 kinda feels better then making your permanents indestructible

    • @nekrataali
      @nekrataali ปีที่แล้ว

      And here it's not even doing its worst. With Opalescence, you can target four creatures, then use Parallax Wave on itself to exile four creatures permanently. Parallax Wave comes back with all its counters, ready to snipe four more creatures. If you exile one of your own creatures after Parallax Wave targets itself, your creatures will come back nice and refreshed as if you used Flickerwisp or Restoration Angel on them.
      That's probably the most famous combo to use with it, but there's a lot of other shenanigans you can do with Parallax Wave.
