  • Bubba Wallace was fined $50,000 for contact with Alex Bowman post-race. Was a fine warranted? Is the number too steep?

    Bubba is also known to be a Hot Head. Alex tried to contact him to talk during the rain delay...both called and texted him...but Bubba waited to Door slam him into the wall with the window net down. So now Bubba has to write a check.

    I believe its a mixture of Bubba's history, putting him into the wall, and the fact he had an hour and a half red flag to hash it out with Bowman but instead predetermined what he wanted to do.

      Because Elliot bumped Suarez lightly. He didn’t wall him while his window net was down, he bumped him so lightly I doubt Elliot even dented his or Suarez’s car. Plus, that didn’t happen before an hour plus long rain delay where they could have talked about it, instead bubba avoided bowman and walled him after the race.

    A doorslam is one thing. What Bubba did was harder than a doorslam. You could see it in the in-car camera while looking at Bowman. Belts were off and window nets were down. The contact was hard enough Bowman's head and helmet bounced around within his head restraints, it was hard enough that fenders were almost knocked off.
    Plus the fact that Bowman said he tried to smooth things over with Bubba during the rain delay and Bubba chose not to, but took this action instead.
    I'm not surprised at this fine whatsoever.

It was after the race. He had a chance to have a good points day to maybe chop some off to get in the playoffs and the guys above you in the points standing spins you out and Nascar didn't do anything about daring red flag by having him start at the end of the longest line. @@wyzmotorsport664 I can think of countless number of times where stuff like this has happened and there’s been no penalties. I mean, hitting someone after the race happens more often than you think like it’s happened a decent amount of times in the past few years and both series.

    Most likely because the window net was down, drivers usually loosen up the safety harness and helmet chin strap, plus impact on the right side then impact into the wall and a driver who had a fairly recent back & head injury (concussion). That's my take on it.

    Money fines arent going to faze guys making the salaries they are. To get their attention, you not only have park the driver for a race, but park the CAR for a race. No drivers points, no owners points, no sponsor on TV, and the crews dont get the extra pay and possible bonus money paid at the end of the year based on the point total. I guarantee THAT will get their attention.

    • @YouTubeAuditor1
      @YouTubeAuditor1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah it'll get their attention. It'll get more sponsors to back out of the sport because teams can't meet their contractual obligations because some dork on the internet thought the whole team should have to be punished for one guys dumb decision. Great idea for hindering the sport

    Bubba has a history of "not getting the message"....IMO he never learned anything from his intentional spin of Kyle Larson and was only suspended 1 race and lets be honest, he never really apologized. So Bubba needed to get something harsh although I feel taking points away would be a stronger message.

    NASCAR needs to make a rule for drivers not to loosen safety harnesses until they're stopped on pit road. One day a driver on the cool down lap is going to get seriously hurt by retaliation or even congratulatory impacts between vehicles.
