My hope is that Childers follows Berry, and they get their first win together at Martinsville, Wood Brothers get their 100th win at their home track
That would awesome, but it doesn't sound likely :(
Good luck with Roger Penske making a change
@@EricEstepp Huge mistake, IMHO
How can you pass up a chance at a talent like Childers? Opportunities like that don't come often (or ever). He's top 3 crew chiefs at the Cup level right now, and you'd be getting a driver/CC combo that seems to be already gellin. Just makes too much sense, i guess 🤷♂️
@@fivespeed42bro he was talking about the martinsville 100th win more than Childers going there
@@alanluscombe8a553 Nah, I don't believe so... he said, "It doesn't sound likely." he's talking about Childers following Berry to the 21
Josh Berry and Rodney Childers at the Wood Brothers would make them serious playoff threats consistently.
I somehow think Josh will someway get to Penske?, take the 2 and switch Cindric to another number
Exactly... bad move, imo, if they don't bring them both over
I doubt it
@@jebediahgentry7029 why not? They were before they put Burton behind the wheel. Even if Childers doesn't come with, I guarantee Berry makes the playoffs first year
Thanks for spoiling the video my boy! I didn’t have time to watch it soooooooo
Josh Berry’s unlikely rise to Nascar, with all of the chaos involved in his rise to the top, reminds me so much of Ross Chastains path. His big breakthrough with Chip Gannassi, and then the team folding, but his rise from the abyss to Trackhouse
You missed an important step in Ross chastain's rise and that was with Bobby Dotter and SS Green light Racing who gave Ross his first chance behind the wheel and he actually screwed them over
NASCAR fined Carson Hocevar $50,000 and docked him 25 points for intentionally spinning Harrison Burton under caution. It drops him from 22nd to 24th in the standings, 181 points behind the cutoff (he was in practicality already in a must-win situation).
I feel like NASCAR needs to do something more than a points penalty and a fine. It's not like a points penalty means anything with the current format when you can just win and get in anyway. Fines... I'm not sure if the driver pays it in full or not. As for points, maybe disqualified from the race where an intentional wreck was made, plus a start from the back in the next race.
@@ShadowWolfeI more just wish they would send the penalties in race, like you spin a guy out and send him to the back, hold the driver responsible for a lap or two to even it out
Didn’t the 21 brake check him hard???
Hocevar is an idiot. Anything he does well he undoes by losing his cool on track and losing points due to penalty. And then people say oh he’s so good and then use the excuse of his penalty for why he finishes poorly in points
@@InsaneCelery238 I agree... that's the driver's doing, and he should be held accountable.
Just like if a tire falls off or illegal prerace inspections. The crew chiefs and/or teams should be held accountable and not the driver. He shouldn't have to start the race with a drive-thru penalty and go laps down. He had nothing to do with it
Shame that Burton never worked out. Some more time in Xfinity could have done a lot of good to him…hopefully he’ll keep racing in Xfinity or Trucks next year
He definitely needed more time in Xfinity
its almost as if they had a guy who made the playoffs and contended for wins before Burton....
Feels like he could be a candidate for a Haas Xfinity seat, but we'll see.
Nepotism only reason he had a cup ride. His dad probably had some say so.
I'm honestly beginning to think 2020 was a fluke because he hadn't done anything up to that point and hasn't done anything since
Getting Josh Berry would be GREAT for them! Getting Rodney as well would be even better. Now I don’t think they’ll win next year but MAYBE they can point their way in to the playoffs!
Getting Berry would be the best driver decision they’ve made in a while.
Hate this move for Berry . Wanted to see him go to front row , with Childers!
Congratulations to Josh Berry, he’ll do the Wood Brothers well.
I think Rodney goes with Berry to the 21. The Wood Bros and Penske would love to have a man of his qualities and experience in the fold. Absolutely.
All signs are pointing to that not being the case.
What do you do with Bullins, Mr Penske?
What did he do to get dumped on? They would have 5 good crew chiefs, and 5 high crew chief salaries to pay, and only 4 sponsored teams to draw funds from to pay them.
@@johnlafever3162 He’s there at the behest of Roger Penske, not the Wood Bros. You don’t turn down a chance to add a championship CC to your roster. Especially with the chemistry already established with Josh. It’s my opinion. Go condescend somewhere else, chap.
@@johnlafever3162 33rd in the point standings! YAY!
@@ryanfulldark2775 obviously you read my questions and comments, adding the condescending tone. Do you always tend to read written words with an assumed condescending tone? Maybe a message board or just the internet in general isn't the place for you! Just a suggestion if that the case.
Take a deep breath, maybe even go outside for a walk and get some fresh air in your lungs.
My questions and the premise I was setting up was to put a little more context into the business decision that needed to be made by Mr Penske, or more technically Mr Tim Cindric, Penske's President of all racing operations, or really much more technically Mr Michael Nelson, Penske's President of NASCAR operations, and the fallout of any decisions of other dominos that typically fall with each business decision.
I don't know if you've ever been a part of something like this, because frankly I don't know you, but I have and my family members have. It's a tough pill to swallow when you've been with an organization and done the best with what they've given you, and done everything they've asked, just to be set aside, demoted or kicked to the curb for someone else.
I feel like Parker kligerman should get recognition maybe not for a cup ride but a better ride than what he has
He has an RCR car and still can't win.
@@jeffbennett7470it's actually Big Machine Racing
@@jeffbennett7470he’s better than half the field!
PK has been consistently running top 10 all year. Add in his media flair, he has to have the eyes of someone. I agree
i take what jeremy clarkson said about him and his career and talent.
If im Penske I bring Childers over to the 21 as well and move Bullins back up to the 2 to help Cindric preform better at a more consistence capacity
this would be the wise play
Rodney with Noah would be awesome
I hope they can actually contend for top 10s next year
Eric stroking his “beard” for the beard guyz sponsorship was pretty funny! All love brother 😂😂❤
Rodney to the 21 with Berry would be awesome
It could be a different driver to the 21 we will have to see!
As a harvick fan who doesn’t know who to root for I think I found my driver and team if this happens
I will be rooting for Berry and this Wood Brothers Team as a Chastain fan first👍 Wood Brothers are an important part of Nascar, hate seeing them so incompetent for so many recent year's!
The one way I can see Berry going with Childres is if Bullins goes to be a competition director at penske
Carson Hocevar penalized 25 points also $50,000 for intentionally spending Harrison Burton under caution at Nashville
I knew Lawless Alan was guaranteed the spot from the start!
Honestly he's doing better than he has in the past. Reaume racing doing good surprisingly
If Rodney Childress is not with Josh Berry then I think he should retire. Rodney Childress was Considering retirement when Harvick announced his retirement but didn't because he's was and still is a big believer in Josh Berry. Without that I think Rodney doesn't have any ties to keep him down unless he get well paid
The good thing is no matter what Josh and Rodney can still work together in late models at KHI Inc
I think Josh Berry will perform like Matt Dibetadetto
What happened to Matt? He is awesome
God I hope not. Lets hope Berry performs much better.
@@JacktheDrummer1824What happened to him? He ended up going to Rackley in the Truck Series for 2022 and 2023, and has now ended up in the 38 RSS Racing/Viking Motorsports Xfinity Car.
Matty D never got a fair shake. Considering how well Burton did in Xfinity and how much better Matt did than him in the 21... it really makes you think. Such a shame
@@sethcarlisle7330yes
Eric’s got like 3 dogs in the fight at the Chicago street course this weekend for xfinity 😂
Haha it's cool that teams/sponsors reach out! It's fun to help activate new NASCAR partnerships
@@EricEstepp yeah that is pretty awesome. Pulling for all of them, have a good one!
If Childers doesn't follow Berry to the 21, I could see Gragson to FRM with the rest of the 4 team including Rodney in the 34 or 36.
I really hope they keep them together..... it would be best for all
There is something else that’s glaring in those WBR stats. What else changed in 2022? G7 cars? Is it a mix of both? Idk but we’ll see , congrats to Berry!
I think there is a "Berry" good chance Childers follows
Not terribly surprising, all things considered. Hate it for Harrison, but he had a fair shot and busted.
Congrats to Josh Berry and the Wood Brothers hopefully they can brings Rodney Childers along for the ride.
They were very patient with Harrison because of his last name but it didnt deliver it's a good move for the 21 team
Absolutely Wasted 3 Years In That Car
I'm a Chevy guy, but I'd love to see that 100th win...! The Wood Brothers definitely deserve it...!!!
As a Berry fan, we need Childers. Berry and Childers are at his point the best match possible for a driver in his first few years. Taking Childers away will throw him into another rookie season.
welp harrison burton… get ready to relearn xfinity series buddy…
Go back to late models more like it. He's a good midfield contender at South Boston.
Good for Josh.
That sucks, Childers is the "big half" of the duo.
Berry and Childers should definitely be a package deal. The 21 team is not a backmarker and is deeply aligned with Penske. Harrison Ford Burton didn't develop like they hoped he would. Burton moved up to cup too quickly.
If wood brothers are smart they'd bring Childers too
Josh Berry Is constantly improving his driving skills. I see him winning races
Everybody ask, "Why Harrison Burton?"
Nobody ask, "How's Harrison Burton?"
I wonder what’s next for Harrison Burton
Xfinity maybe he replaces Custer in the 00 when Custer drives for the HAAS factory cup team
back to the xfinity series probably
Oblivion. Dude was never good enough
@@wingracer1614Facts
What a great move by Wood Bros to get Berry! Though I’ll miss seeing that 4 car that Harvick excelled in. Hope Childers goes with him! They deserve to get that win together!
I like Gragson to the 3. Bass pro shop connection. That 3 has been atrocious this year
RCR has been atrocious for much longer, I hope he gets an actual good competition Director.
That would be great
Jr Motorsports is definitely the pipeline to NASCAR
To be a fan of the Wood Brothers, is akin to being a fan of the Detroit Lions in football. I love underdogs, but Burton has been a bust. Nice to see Berry land the ride.
I hope WBR is able to pull a Furniture Row one day and win their first championship
The #21 feels like a #JoshBerry ride . Harvicks #4 was a great ride but still felt like Harvicks ride . I hope he gets a win this year for himself , #RodneyChilders , & team . Go Josh !
Go get that bag Eric! So happy this channel is getting lots of good sponsors becasue you definitely deserve it for making great free content for us. Two videos in a row now where youve been sponsored by facial hari related companies who are gonna be on a stock car this weekend
I’m a huge Josh Berry fan and everybody is a wood brothers fan. I think this is the best combo wood brothers have had in their car since Elliot Sadler and Ryan Blaney because he won also hopefully that way these guys can get on their feet a year of doing things the Penske way And Rodney getting acclimated with everything I can’t wait !!!!!
Wood Brothers will probably still be a mid pack team but definitely will perform better
They are never going to be 100% as good as the Penske cars
Only problem with them splitting is that childers would possibly have a shr start up again
I'm guessing that Front Row didn't print enough money to bring in the Josh Berry and Rodney Childers duo. In my opinion, Front Row is missing out on an already-built team to come in and fill one of the two teams needing a driver next year. Childers would have been a huge asset to the entire organization to help them reach the next level.
Any chance bullins gets promoted somewhere to make room for Childers?
Excited for him. Maybe he'll turn that team around
Cant waite to see the 21 running well again
Solid move for the 21.
Essentially the Wood Brothers are a fourth Penske team.
wow thats deep !!!
I sense Wood brother's 100th win in the few years. Probably not next year, but I have faith in berry
Burton is heading to the Haas Factory Team in the Xfinity Series
I'm not sure that's where he's going now Xfinity serious yeah. My opinion is you're not going to say anybody that is a KHI management client driving for Haas factory team as I'm pretty sure Kevin's going to advise against
I truly believe this is the best move WBR couldve made. On one hand, i doubt they actually get a win, however, i think they do return back to the days of Matt Dibenedetto, where theyre actually competing for a playoff spot
I really wanted the whole 4 team to move into the 34 and make Front Row a monster. (Currently 34 team moves to whatever number they run for the 3rd car)
Their third car is the 36
Listened to this on my stereo. There's a low hum the entire video, not a big deal, just wanted to point it out to you Eric! I love OOTG and I think it's awesome that you brought back out of the crowd!!
for what it's worth (and it's not worth much) but I ran into Rodney both pre race and coming off the track post race at New Hampshire last week after his impressive 3rd place finish, and I was interested in observing his lack of enthusiasm for such a strong performance. I wished him well and congratulated him on the strong run, but with the weather being what it was, I dismissed it as a "we survived" kind of relief and not an "we earned that result with our great team strength and performance."
Now in hindsight I wonder if he knew that his time with Josh Berry is short lived and he has next to no idea what his future holds and couldn't celebrate the success the way one would if there was a building up of something more significant happening in front of our very eyes.
Rodney is a hell of a crew chief, and I wish him all the best. I hope I'm just reading too much into it, but it was startling to me to see him almost mopey both before and after the race. Time will tell, of course.
I think that's just too Rodney is and not one to celebrate for 3rd place finish or he did it over the radio or team meeting
I think Childers would be great along side Josh Berry again. We shall see very soon!! If not, Rodney will get many offers from other teams if he decides to listen to these offers. He will help some team in the future. Best of luck on your decision you make Rodney!!
Harrison Will Land on his Feet… In Xfinity.
Probably back in the Toyota Camp where he dominated.
Happy for Josh, he should do well in the 21.
Carson seems unhinged.
Josh Berry to the 21 is a great move
I would hope that Penske/Wood Brothers dont separate Berry/Childers but if Childers doesnt go with him he would make an excellent addition to a growing team like FRM
Crazy Paul Menard wasn't that bad when you loom at the average finish
Paul Menard was a decent driver and a cool guy he didn't bring attention to himself just wanted to race and just happened to have a rich dad who could fund his career, which what good father/grandfather wouldn't if they had the means to do so?
NASCAR '25: Rodney Childers Unleashed
Awesome!
Hmmmmmm something appears a bit fishy with the timeline. If the Wood Brothers were in talks with Berry for weeks, then all of the speculation about Briscoe going to the Wood Brothers seems a bit odd. The timeline seems pretty slanted for Berry from the beginning. Perhaps it's all smoke and mirrors. Fingers crossed Rodney is part of the deal.
HALLELUJAH! It is about time WBR signed a driver that can get it done. I hope win 100 comes soon. I will be proud to break out my WBR shirts and hats now. Been ashamed to wear them with H.B. in the car. He's just not a Cup talent.
Harrison Burton has been terrible, I get Matty D and the team ended on bad terms, but surely they could have found a better driver than Harrison Burton! His father he is not! Even his uncle who in a better car probably would have been as successful as his brother is better, as is Uncle Ward's boy Jeb.
Sometimes the apple falls very far from the tree in the case of Harrison Burton. I feel like he was hired for name sake and the fact Brad left Penske before cindric was named 21 driver for a year maybe 2
Out of the crowd question: Do you believe NASCAR providing chassis and engine for the team has been a net positive or negative on Cup racing?
Awesome signing
The Kroger logo was on Ty Gibbs car at Nashville
I just wish the Wood Brothers could get a decent driver to make them run up front as they deserve with a win or two every season. That would be awesome.
Berry seems like the perfect fit for that woods brother car. Like it just seems to fit
Correction Christopher Bell spoiled that Chase Briscoe is driving the 19 car 😂
I know now is not the time but I was really hoping RFK added a third charter for Josh Berry. I view Berry and Childers as a duo that could do big things in NASCAR and someone that gets freed up only so often. At least he’s driving a Ford and I can still root for him
Eric Estepp and everyone who's your pick to win this year's Chicago street course this weekend?
If I'm Penske, I'd be trying to bring Childers to the team in some capacity...but FRM does make the most sense for a Childes landing spot if he is separated from Berry
you're totally right not to love this move, Eric. I like Berry, but not enough to get Wood Brothers off the bottom of the barrel without Childers.
Berry at Wood is gonna resurrect the #21
I keep forgetting the Wood Brothers exist, and I don't know if that's down to the driver, team, or both.
Notice the change came with the arrival of the Next Gen car. I think that is the issue for the Wood Brothers, for whatever reason.
Josh Berry going to the 21 could help Wood Brothers become a stable team but with Rodney Childers not coming (if he doesn’t), Berry’s in a tough spot, It’s gonna be hard without all his experience and knowledge with that team
So when it’s all said and done we can all agree that Wood Brothers would’ve been better off keeping Matt Dibenedetto rather than getting Harrison Burton
they fucked Dibby over
Yes but now by much. Berry is an upgrade over both.
Great video update Eric
I pray that both Rodney and Josh go to The Wood Brothers. I hope that Penske is NOT foolish enough to separate them. If The Wood Brothers want win 100, get all of the 4 team and let them work their magic. I believe Josh is an outstanding talent BUT if Penske overlooks the GREAT talent of Rodney Childers that would be the BIGGEST mistake Penske will ever make. Keep Rodney and Josh and the rest of the 4/21 team together for best results (100th WIN) Remember Rodney is the 2014 Cup Championship Crew Chief, that in it's self should be enough. Take care race fan and enjoy the 4th of July. Blessings to everyone 🙏 ✝️ 🙏
Maybe there's a plan to move Bollins to another position or over to Penske to be a Crew Chief fo Cindric or something. If Childers doesn't end up there, don't be surprised if he ends up at Hendick with Alex Bowman. They have a past relationship (w/ Hendrick) and it's the one car in the stable that just seems to need a little something more and perhaps this is the solution.
he was cindrics cc last year and 2022
I feel like the 21 gets the same treatment as the 78 got with JGR. They want a satellite team, but they aren't gonna like it if the satellite team starts out performing them. It'll always be a B-tier team at best. It's Penske Lite.
Eric, you give me all of the info. that I need to sound smart for coffee room talk on Monday mornings. The other guys think I'm so smart.
Hendrick Motorsports should Seriously consider going after Rodney Childers would be an upgrade over Blake Harris
Good move for Wood Bros!
Call me crazy but I think Matt Dibenidetto would be perfect for the #34 next year.
Barry and Childers would be awesome in the 21, I really like Harrison I hate it didn’t work out for him. Maybe he can go down to Xfinity or trucks and build his résumé and come back stronger than ever he is still young.
3:24 Looking back, Shows how much of a Raw Deal Matty D got
Got what he deserved from Roger Penske
Childers is one of the best crew chiefs in nascar today.
I don't think he's as good as he used to be because of the next gen
Rodney Childers Is Good But It's Not The End Of The World If He Doesn't Go With Josh
If Josh has Rodney Childers on the pit box, that car is a RO12 team.
Is Childers even talking to Penske/Wood Brothers about a job? That Berry/Childers/Penske combo
may make the 21 relevant again 🤞
