I genuinely appreciate these tutorials. My location doesn't allow for affordable means of such information were it ever packaged in some "Buy This Course" product. The views may not reflect the immense value of these videos, but my appreciation for them certainly does.
I hardly ever comment on these these, but I wanted to pop on and say thank you for an incredibly interesting and helpful video! I'm currently struggling with getting speech to follow an exact melody, so any help you have there would be brilliant!
Thanks so much for your comment. For note-by-note speech to pitch correction/tuning, dedicated pitch plug-ins like Melodyne and Auto-Tune can be helpful. That said, Flex Pitch can work well too - it very much depends on the source voice.
Hi Jono thans for this video. Also, I want to be able to play midi in real time and have it control the pitch in Vocal Transformer . I found a video from 11 years ago where they went into Logic Environment using transformers and objects.. I tried this approach but in my Logic Pro 10.7 I couldn't get Vocal Transformer to respond to my real time midi notes.. Do you have an approach to play a Midi keyboard and have Vocal Transformer respond with the pitch changes in real time. Rgds, David
Great question David. Let me look into this for you - it definitely feels like something MIDI FX and some side-chaining should be able to handle. I'll let you know what I find out.
Hi David. I've already started having a look at this - annoyingly, the Pitch plug-ins aren't available as MIDI-controllable FX and the MIDI FX plug-ins will only work when paired with Audio FX on the same channel strip, so my first two thoughts don't deliver the goods! I'm sure there's a way though... I'll keep on it. If anyone else has come across the same situation and knows a work-around, please do share!
Thanks Jono, appreciate you replying.I experimented some more and found the only way I could find was by using Automation and selecting the Pitch parameter in Vocal Transformer and drawing in the note pitch changes. Unfortunately playing note changes in real time from a MIDI keyboard doesn't seem possible.. Maybe there's a way in Logic Environment.. @@jonobuchananmusic
lol You must be a Trent Reznor fan, I sure that's what he does with his sounds for NIN, he did an interview back in the day on how he creates sounds on his midi stuff, he likes to manipulate his sounds as well "Trent Reznor | Archetype of a Synthesizer"
Ah, that's interesting! I'm actually not nearly as familiar with NIN as I should be; but I do very much know and admire Trent Reznor's soundtrack work. The first time I can remember hearing the tuned spoken word (or the extreme retuning of a sung phrase to a single pitch) was on Madonna's work with the French producer Mirwais, over 20 years ago... where does the time go?!
right? lol but your right, experiment and play around with different sounds and instruments, you'll create a sound no one heard before :)@@jonobuchananmusic

That's extremely kind and very greatly appreciated. Thanks.
It’s very cool. Please don’t stop
Thank you so much.
Jono, thank you for sharing and inspiring me with your genius-level creativity.
Not at all - thank you for such kind words.
Love this!
Happy to hear it!
Nice one!
Cheers Stephen!
Amazing as usual, Jono 🙌🏻
Thank you!
Very good and also very funny. More.

Many thanks for another inspiring video
Thanks Donnie. I'm glad you liked it.

@@jonobuchananmusic I managed to sort it out with Flex Pitch! Thanks so much!

Yes but, can we see what we can do with vocal transformation? :)
I’ll add it to the list for a future video. 😉
