These were the best instructions. I followed along step by step and changed my broken kitchen tap! Honestly, thank you for being so clear, straightforward and humorous with your tips!
Watched this at the right time as I need to replace my Laundry tap. The handle of the tap has split, spurting water out sideways every time. I have been putting up with it for almost a year ...as one does. I finally showed one of my friends, he is going to attempt to remove and put in a new one. I will get him to watch this first. Thanks.
I had the hot hose burst on my old kitchen tap tonight! Thank you for these straight forward, easy to follow instructions. It gave me confidence to be able to successfully replace it with the new kitchen tap I already had waiting to go! Thanks :)
Thanks for the easy instructions. I'm about to replace my old mixer to a new one that I've had sitting in it's box for almost 2yrs & I'm absolutely TIRED of asking my "husband" to do that keeps saying he doesn't have time but has time to go play cricket 4 nights a week, fix things on his boat, clean his car etc. I should know better. I mean it took him THREE years to redo our shower and in those last year of the 3 I had a csection, tubal ligation, hysterectomy, bowel cancer removal where i was in hospital for 2 months, released with a stoma that needed a temporary ileostomy bag, the blue nurses that came out to my house were absolutely DISGUSTED because with all of these major surgeries I had to climb in and out of my spa bath and hook up one of those rubber hose things you hook onto the tap so I could wash my hair. So wish me luck everyone so I can do this & shove it in his face
Nailed it. Thanks! Had exact same situation as you but when you mentioned no stopcocks, i found your toilet&stopcock vid, then added those after another trip to Hammerbarn. Live your work mate 🤙
Hey man great video! Quick question, if I have a split tap system, and want to change it to a mixer, could I follow the same instructions, but plug the split tap holes with those lil stainless steel domes?
@@InspireDIY I just got the mixer tap from Bunnings. Going to give it a go. Thanks for the video. I would not have even tried but for your instructional video 👍
One of these definitely makes it easier.. amzn.to/40glaPY But if you are only doing one and feel like wrestling just use a tap socket or deep Socket. Best of luck.. Kent
Thanks.. I'm watching your video after the plumber changed our tap. I don't why he reversed the hot and cold Flexi pipes, because it's annoying . I'm used to having hot on the left and cold on the right. And now he is not answering the phone.
Hey Beena, I think he kooked that one🤔 International standards for plumbing says ‘hot’s on the left & cold’s on the right’ .. on mixer taps too. Lucky it’s an easy fix for you to do seeing as how it doesn’t look like he’ll be returning to sort it out. Best of luck, Kent
@@InspireDIY It was hardly a 10 minutes job, because under sink we had isolation valves. I know now why he did it. The first time he didn't fix the tap properly blaming the tap and asked us that we should have bought the tap from certain shop. Then we we bought that tap, call him and said we are not paying another £40. This time he asked to turn off the boiler. When the tap was replaced I asked him shall I turn on the boiler he said no no. I was in hurry at that time, had an appointment. But now I know why he didn't let the boiler turn on so we can't guess what he did.
When the tap falls over that's when you go "HONEY!...HONEY!...HONEY!... ... Barry, you want 5 bucks? Hold this for a minute!" I have a very old tap, it looks like it has an upside down T shape to connect hot and cold to, to get them to their respective taps. I wanted to replace with a mixer tap like this. Someone said I need a converter, but it looks to me like I need to take the converter out, although I'm not sure how I would do this. Would this work in theory? Never changed a tap before.
Hey NoRegrets, there’s two labels on plumbing materials to look for.. ‘WaterMark’ means it meets certain AU/NZ quality standards which the gives an assurance on high quality, and ‘WELS’ (water efficiency labelling standard) gives a star rating based on efficiency. You can buy non-accredited products at some retailers but is it really worth it? Best of luck, Kent
@@InspireDIYThanks for this. I have a different set, mine has separate hot and cold taps. Also i don’t have those flexible steel wrapped pipes and just copper pipes connected to the taps. Do you think it’s worthwhile to DIY or just hire a plumber. :-)
Aha that will solve the problem. Unfortunately it’s out of stock on amazon at the moment. Other option I have is to remove the whole sink. Remove the old tap and replace with new before reattaching the sink.
Can't understand why you didn't fully assemble the threaded bolt and securing plate before passing it all through the hole! So much easier that all that fiddling from below. The plate is crescent-shaped to allow you to do that.
