I don’t know why but I have the feeling that Mr. Emanuel wants to use this piece to give it to the maestro Maris Jassons. This piece is so soft and touchable, when I heard it, I just remembered all the beautiful things and people in our life, of course, including Maestro Maris Jassons.

How beautifully sad and devoid as opposed to the brighter side of Chopin. Despite having beautiful themes in A major and then E major the restraint is there throughout and Emaunel Ax was able to convey that from start to finish. Bravo!

As soon as he started playing i could tell he was a strong player. Guy is on a superior level. When you play the piano and the piano doesn't play you then you know you have passed over

I love this start to splendid finish. Inventive too. Instead of PP in the measure leading up to that rapturous penultimate section, he goes into a kind of joyous celebration. Just love it.

Chopin would, I suspect, have approved of Emanuel’s beautifully phrased, exquisite playing.

Is this waltz meant to be played in the background of a party while partygoers are tending to their own activities and conversing?
Because it seems really hard to keep the audience's attention during the repeats, and it also seems the waltz needs to be played faster to avoid being really lengthly. Don't get me wrong, the waltz is very artistic(this one is actually my favorite, I love how he manages the septuplets), but with the repeats and everything, it feels like this waltz was written for the occasions Chopin was invited to play at parties. Occasions where he might need to stretch the duration of a piece so he wouldn't have to bring a hundred pieces to the party to last himself and the audience there.
I don't know if during his time, everyone stopped what they were doing at the party just to listen to Chopin or if he was playing in the background as I describe. Or maybe I just don't know the style and traditions of a waltz.
