Still one of the best designed games in the series imo. I was just kind of disappointed with Connor, and that's literally my only gripe. That trailer is so iconic I remember it had kids in my playground who never played games, becoming obsessed with gaming.
They weren’t as significant to the franchise or if Mirage was significant, we still don’t know its impact on Ubi cuz its so recent, so I didn’t have enough to talk about
@@rredberry Mirage unexpectedly sold really well, despite taking little time, budget, and employees to develop, without as much microtransaction too, relatively to other recent entries, which led to Ubisoft saying that they will continue to make classic-like games going into the future. You can look it up. It is rumoured that Mirage's studio is working on another AC game as well.
Mirage was total slop dog shit that was an asset flip of Valhalla. Do we not question for one second how many female characters are actively ordering men around in ancient fucking Afghanistan? Ya know during the period of time where religious Islamism was at its most extreme and women would get stoned if they even thought of taking off their burka? I’m not saying that a game needs to talk about hardcore topics like the oppression of women but the reason this wasn’t a problem in AC1 is because they had literally 0 women in their story so they could specifically avoid that issue. Mirage on the other hand, has multiple Mary sue’s and totally fails to explain it in context of its setting and thus destroys suspension of disbelief. The other games took freedom with their historical portrayal of locations but never in the way origins, oddessy, Valhalla and mirage did. Those games are a stain on assassin creed existence and killed the franchise. Let’s not even get into the terrible new modern day main character Layla, who fucking kill’s her friend for no reason then acts sad about it afterwards. Plus, they said mirage would be “a return to form”. I do not consider teleporting in mirage to be a return to form. That was a lie.
Ngl. Im a fan of the lore, the story, the gameplay, the characters and everything about the world of ac. A black samari or some stupid lil shit that people complain about wont stop me from playing. I haven't experienced an ac that i couldn't finish and enjoy bc it was SO BAD
Absolutely amazing video brother, please keep up with the long form videos and don’t be diswayed by the view count this is genuinely one of the best videos I’ve seen recently. ❤
@rredberry I'm really confident it will, the animations are a lot smoother, and the stealth and combat got quite some improvements. The delay seems to be paying off.
7:08 assassin's Creed II was a game I got with my Xbox for Christmas one year It was literally the first introduction to the assassin's Creed IP that I ever played I never played the first one ever still to this day I haven't but I've played assassin's Creed 2 a million times I fell in love with that game and the story especially the modern day and the past stuff all intrigued me
Very informative and I agree the loudest backlash for shadows was for the wrong reasons, the yasuke backlash are mostly people hating but Ubisoft didn’t handle it well in the beginning, the game looks polished now and I am truly excited with the story and parkour being the two aspects that need to be good for me, I believe it will do ok but I doubt it will save Ubisoft
It won’t pull them out the hole, but it could give them a boost. Its not gonna take one big win it’s gonna take multiple, so if shadows does well hopefully they learn and can keep the momentum
Skipped a few games, but I understand why those weren't the most important to cover for the sake of the overall story here (with perhaps the exception of Mirage). But overall great video and nice editing, some of the edits were subtly hilarious, like the COD DLC inception.😂 As for Shadows predictions, not sure it'll be a straight up flop, but I don't think it'll sell as much as Ubisoft wants it to. At the very least I know it'll be the first AC game I'm skipping, and I reckon I'm far from the only one who feels that way. I know people's jobs depend on its success, but at the end of the day I can't play every game on the planet just because I feel bad for people possibly losing their jobs. So yeah, Shadows just doesn't peak my interest and already seems a bit dated compared to existing competition. I also don't agree with many decisions that were made during its development and everything else around it. That said I'm still an AC fan. I think a lot of the general Ubisoft backlash is justified, but that won't stop me from buying a game if it interests me. I quite enjoyed the recent Avatar game for example. Anyways, I got mixed feelings about other upcoming AC titles, but definitely hyped for the Black Flag remake. Hopefully it turns out well, if it doesn't, bummer but no big deal, the original version isn't going anywhere.😌
Thought Valhalla had the best gameplay by far because of how many options it gave you both in stealth and combat, and the weapons progression felt like a real change compared to Odyssey and Origins were you changed skins of the same weapon a lot of times just to do a little more damage.
ac sexus was so peak ngl like the parkour and stealth felt so refreshing to me it sucks that it was just never really talked about (ignoring the combat but like it wasn't really trying to be the next blade and sorcery anways so its not a big deal to me)
my complaint in shadows is just make a singular protagonist or with similar japanese its called "if its not broken why fix it?" also whats the benefit for the lore? also why change it now? why is it important to change it? why change an established storyline and change it with this one (yes there was a singular protagonist for japan), also customers deserve quality over their games especially recent ones from a well known billion dollar company, ubisoft has a reference for better combat, instead they just improve little to the animation compare to other old spin-off ac trilogy, heck i was expecting them beating sucker punch with their combat animation, but most importantly parkour, the reason parkour in ac is unique cause you aint a parkour flipper (which nothing wrong if you in a modern watchdog era) so putting a flip in ac is kinda wierd in a historical sense especially if youre a ninja,
@@nozenkyuzero Yes, Yamauchi Taka who was an assassin monk, and he could have easily be made into a samurai like Hattori Hanzo. Since Taka is fictional. His name literally translated as 'a hawk born from a kite' meaning a gifted child born to ordinary parents. In keeping with avian themed names like Altair, Ezio, Bayek or Eivor. The Eagle Vision mechanic of previous titles could have return in the form of "Hawk Sight"(a symbol of kings, a favorite theme of Japanese warlords during the era of civil wars). The male player's companion animal could have been a sparrow-hawk who can be used to scout the nearby areas, much like previous avian companions had done in Assassin's Creed RPGs. Contrast with Naoe's Eagle Vision. Honestly, there were dozens of real renowned samurai, like Honda Tadakatsu or Mizuno Katsunari, who deserved the role of AC’s male protagonist before Yasuke. But obviously, it would have made more sense if the AC Shadows’ samurai was fictional as well.
@snowshock8958 plus taka's assassins brotherhood japan mentor ( not hattori hanzo) xiao hu aka kotetsu meets shao jun who also meets ezio auditore, which is connects the assassin lore interestingly unlike oddysey where they just try to connect bayek and alexios (which makes him like a gary stu with a father of leonidas and some greek math guy idk his name is)out of their butt

As an actual ac fan. Unity is FARRRR from a flop. Yes at launch a bit shit. But at this stage its the PEAK of parkour ac has seen. Its also the perfect mix between the new RPG gameplay and the original "2 button counter" gameplay

Agreed to most part of the video, but Odyssey and Syndicate were the downfall of the AC franchise. we only needed one good AC game with a compelling story and gameplay mechanics and a protagonist that make a change after Desmond died. Ubisoft Never listened to their fans, and AC odyssey is not an AC game, surely an average RPG games (if you are saying this is the Best RPG games then you have to explore more of RPG games) if you remove Assassin's creed from Odyssey it would still be a game with Greek Mythology, After spending 100+ hours on that game I just not only disappointed on that game also saddened by what Ubisoft has done to this franchise, all the fetch quests and copy pasted locations it didn't really hit me, mind this game came out at the same year of RDR2 and same month. as an open world game it didn't stand a chance of the detailing of RDR2 even to be close to be a competition. although many new fans might like AC odyssey I don't think the OGs welcome it. and this only made smoke a bit more so Valhalla can burn the franchise to the ground. Honestly I would not mind playing as yasuke as long as he is NOT the spotlight Samurai of Japan, for Shadows its just not right to give a black dude the all the attention on a Japanese period and samurai is a class that Japanese people look very fondly and of course its their culture (im not Japanese or white to pick a side neither I am not black lol ). Yasuke would have been much better served as a side character who gives you missions or lessons throughout the game, as a protagonist hmm thats questionable. I'm one of those people who think AC should have ended with Desmond died, and if Black Flag would have been a fully fledged pirate experience. well too late to fix shit now. hoping Delays on shadows would make ubisoft to come to their senses and take the right decision. if AC shadows fails to score by 2026 we might not be see a Ubisoft at all.
