    When I was a kid we had a 125cc Kawasaki. Every once in a while the spark plug would pop out and fly away. Had to find it, find a rock, pound it back in and kick it back to life. This reminds me of that simple kind of fun that's so lacking in this insane and busy world. Bigger isn't always better. Faster isn't always more fun. Sometimes, less is far, far more. I love this video. Almost brings a tear to my eye. Makes me wonder what I've done to my life. I've left behind too many of the simple joys. I miss the way my heart would pound in anticipation of that first kiss. I miss rushing home for dinner. I miss wondering where the road would take me. Having maps and plans, more than I need of everything... has left me with less than nothing. I'm not sure a simple bike will fix everything, but it has at least opened my eyes to a better perspective. Having can get in the way of living. I've got to do better. I have to return to the texture of life, the raw and simple joy of the moment. Thanks for the video!

      Wow thanks Joe! You’re right. Sometimes more expensive things bring more expensive worries. We had so much fun on this 125! It should be every 16/17 year olds dream (now they just want to be taking selfies in their rooms for likes!)

    I purchased a brand new Herald Classic 125 a month ago! So far, so good. They're great starter bikes. Herald, along with Mutt, are definitely making some of the coolest 125 around at the moment. They're cheap, cheerful, and look to the part too. I would love to see you review Herald's first, in house '100% British-made' bike - the Herald Brute 500. See if you can get your hands on one!

  • @martinhickman3390

    i purchased this bike and yes it is a bit of fun, but you buy cheep you get cheep (and it only does 52mph checked by 2 seperate garmin devices. 60 mph down a steep hill with the wind behind you and it feels as though it will throw the piston out). Also the speedo is in kmh (mph is in tiny figures to the side) and the bike will do apx 220k to a tank.
    I thought cheep okay if I drop it as a new rider I won't cry over the cost, but i haven't dropped it.
    So for anyone looking at this bike be aware no-one likes to service them and that includes some dealers, also the guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on.
    1st four out of the six bolts in the exhaust have come out (the internal nuts have broken off.
    2nd The warning light on the tank will do what it wants regardless of how much fuel you have in the tank.
    3rd The paint is already peeling of the tank around the filler cap.
    4th Keep an eye on all the fitting bolts (light mounts, horn, mudguard and exhaust heat plate on mine) the fall out a lot. so get a large tube of thread lock.
    5th wheel spokes come loose.
    6th learn to service your own bike . I've taken mine to the original dealer (who will not warrantee any of these issues), another Chinese brand importer and 2 main motorcycle dealers and no-one will touch it.
    7 I have ridden it in light rain but not winter and the bike is garaged but the engine is already heavily corroded after 12 months.
    Yes it is fun to use but i never thought I would have to worry about it failing its first MOT.
    In fairness you have a new bike and unless you keep the long term you will never find these issues.
    like you said (and i do agree with mine) the bike is good fun.
    Keep up the good reviews .

      @MrDarcy-OlMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK that’s good to know; thanks buddy.
      We’re not keen on reviewing the ‘Chinese’ bikes any more tbh. These rebranded off the shelf models appear to be sub standard so it turns out

    • @martinhickman3390
      @martinhickman3390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrDarcy-OlMan , I don't think the cheep Chinese brands are bad, i do believe in buyer beware (if it sounds to good it usually is). but i do feel the dealers who sell them should up their game a bit and take a little responsibility for after service and spares. I'm from the old school era where the car manual told you haw to service the car, nowadays they tell you not to drink the acid from a sealed battery. I think it will be interesting to keep the bike and relearn some old skills and new (like led lights and overnight bikepacking). What could possibly go wrong?

      @martinhickman3390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshuabanghard6204 , I had looked at the fantic caballero 125. Italian by design but with a Chinese water cooled engine. The price put me off as I had found mine as an ex demo.
      I think if you can get a fairly new / second hand bulit hero or herold maverick and accept it for what it is, you don't worry about damaging it so much if you take it off road or drop it while learning. £1700 for a bike less than 6months old is very different from a bike that is just over £5000. Cheap, yes. Fun, yes. More maintenance is just a good learning curve for when you decide to invest in a superior machine.
      Good luck with whatever you decide, ride safe and have fun 👍

    Great review chaps! Am looking at this now or the Bluroc or a Mash bike. Ajs chap told me they are bringing out Euro 5 bikes soon. (I asked re the Tempest Scrambler). Price increase is quite large!
    Its usefull when the ol Boy is on the bike as am a similar build few feet smaller! The chap at Herald recommended this one or the Brat👍 (He also told re how they inspect their bikes before sending on to the dealer).
    P.s You guys ridden a Mash bike?

In 2700kms it's needed; 3 Speedos, 2 rear lights, 1 Speedo cable, 2 chain and sprockets, 2 throttle bodies, number plate mount and a new engine! The new engine didn't run properly as they just chuck in whatever engine/ECU arrives from China, so there's no consistency. Supply of parts is awful, so in 18 months it's been in the workshop for 6 weeks. Dealer support is woeful and nobody wants to PX. Looks great though.

      That's a Suzuki FMI 157 engine, the same,or very similar to the one of Keeway 125. Be sure to check the valves, usually the intake one has no play at all. That's what causes the cold engine to stall and all the. Random cutt off.
      Other than that, it might be that te valve seats are not even perpendicular to the valve itself, but that's a head off job.
      On mine, Keeway rkv, the gasket had a wrong cut and diameter(28 instead of 26) for the injector to squirt inside the intake...
      I've increased the throttle plate from 26 to 28 and build a 10 mm Teflon gasket, marched with the intake runner. Because it had before such a poor compression, the torque actually increased, a lot, and the engine revs now up to 11500 !
      There's a very wide range of quality between them, all because of the actual assembly, not to the design...
