  • And finally we come to the game's final story, that of Hata no Kokoro. I personally love the way she acts in this storymode.
Hata is full of gimmicks that all symbolize the game's religion mechanic. She has four forms: normal, red/anger, blue/sad and green/joy. These respectively refer to the four religion shots: normal being youkai, anger being Buddhism, sad being Shinto and joy being Taoism. Using any skill in one of these three emotions makes that emotion her active one and alters her danmaku as if she had that religion equipped. By equipping her with a religious set, such as Taoism, her shot will become that type when she's in normal form as well, but the other two emotions are unaltered.
She can also release her emotion with a strong forward danmaku shot. It's short ranged, and doesn't work when she's in normal mode, but if it hits with any emotion active it will debuff the enemy.
When blue or sad, the debuff on the enemy is crying. This will cause them to constantly move back when their idle and seems to affect blocking some way too.
When red or angry, the debuff on the enemy is anger. This will cause the opposite, where the enemy will mvoe forward when their not moving and affect block the opposite of the sadness debuff.
When green or happy, the debuff is laughing. This will cause the enemy to dash whenever they move forward, making their moves a little hard to control.
All in all, Hata has a very unique gimmick that really represents the game's religion mechanic, and thus represents the game itself. Truly a final boss worthy of her spot.
