    When I left my faith I felt culture-less due to Islam being such a big part of my culture. But then I remembered I'm a born and raised brit and this island is rich in culture and tradition, a lot of which i was fascinated by growing up. So I went to central London, had some traditional English food, saw some landmarks and watched a play at the globe theatre. 🇬🇧 😁

      The Globe! You lucky English person, you. I dream of seeing a play at the Globe.
      If every person on the planet would learn to recite and quote Shakespeare's plays, instead of reciting and quoting the Qor'an, the world would be a better and kinder place.
      Any saying by Shakespeare is far better and kinder and more spiritual than any verse from the Koran (or the Bible or the Torah and Mishna).
      I am saying this as someone who thoroughly read both the Koran and the New Testament and the Torah, and parts of Vedas, on the one hand, and the entire Shakespeare's sonnets and plays.
      Shakespeare's poetic verses and sublime philosophy, psychology, and sociology surpass the others by far.
      I would also recommend learning "Cyrano de Bergerac' by Edmond Rostand by heart for verse-reciting, spiritual quotes memorizing maniacs.

Try char siu (Chinese BBQ pork) or tonkotsu ramen (Japanese noodle soup with a rich pork bone broth and fatty pork belly slices). It's on another level.

    I am an atheist Jew....I dont belong to any religion, but was raised in an observant family with Kashrut, and never touched pork till one summer, aged 15, at the first summer camp i attended run by secular Christians, Quakers , really, and one day they served us wonderful BLTs (bacon lettuce, and tomato sandwhich) for lunch. I was disgusted, but also hungry...My good friends tucked in, and convinced me to try it...I loved it, but have only had it a couple times in the past 50 years. In 1990 I discovered Vietnamese grilled pork chop, and they even serve grated pork skin, which sounds really awful, but the way they prepare it with roasted rice powder makes it really good. I used to get that 3-4 x a year, before i went off of factory farmed flesh food....The point i am leading to, is that every time i ate it, as much as i liked it, i could also feel my mother's disapproval!! My internalized Jewish mother....Guilt...The Hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

    This is such an interesting video. If you want to taste the true wonders of pork, do yourself a great favour and roast pork for yourself at home, preferably stuffed with homemade sage and onion stuffing. (I'm pretty sure there'd be a great recipe in one of Delia Smith's cookery books.) A leg of pork would be ideal, but a rolled shoulder joint would also do the trick. Make sure that you season it well with salt and black pepper, and cook it very slowly. Aalso make sure that towards the end of the roasting that you turn up the heat to crisp up the skin (which the butcher has scored for you). You will end up with wonderful crackling - crisp and fatty. You will find it delicious. Serve with apple sauce. As the French would say: _Bon appétit !_

    Prosciutto.
    Take only 100 grams of prosciutto.
    A really good quality expensive one, all dark red, smoked, no white greasy fat parts.
    That's the one that's irresistible.
    Don't take the cheapest ones, they were "smoked" in a modern meat-smoking machine for 30 minutes and the result is what you buy. The pricey ones are pricey because they were left to smoke in free air for months in a wooden cottage on a mountain.
    That's the one you want to taste.
    Otherwise I don't like pork meat or pork products much, although I grew up in a culture where literally everyone eats a lot of pork.
    I like tender lamb, and it's rare come by where I live, so that's one thing I envy the Middle Easterners.
    Otherwise I like venison. And duck.
    Anything that lived free in the wild tastes10 times better and the body feels it's healthier.
    As of recently, I, too, have significantly reduced consumption of all meat.

      In one of your earlier posts you mentioned that you had read quite a bit of culturally diverse scripture, including bits of the Vedas. Kudos to you, but the Vedas and Upanishads are vast, and to really understand them, knowledge and understanding of the Sanskrit language is key. Sanskrit has been delved deeply into by Germans and Eastern European cultures, particularly due to the similarities between 'old-German' and languages such as Lithuanian, Estonian, Polish etc. with Sanskrit. As to spiritually rich philosophies, Shakespeare is definitely one of those rare individuals who was 'up there', but then so was Kaalidaas, Rumi, Khalil Gibran etc. Check out the Sanskrit hymn 'Madalasa'' by 'Gaiea Sanskrit'. You might find it quite enriching.

According to the Quran, it is OK to eat camel meat (Q 22:36) although that is forbidden in the Old Testament. (Leviticus 11:4; Deuteronomy 14:7) All of the dietary laws in the Quran basically mimic the ones that Christians have except for the prohibition against eating pork. If you look at all of the ancient Church canons (the ones accepted by the Seven Ecumenical Councils -- last council was in 787), you will see that the Quranic dietary laws are almost identical to those canons except for the prohibition against eating pork. Maybe that prohibition is due to sick pigs. Eating the meat from them might be bad for one's health. It could also be a commandment to abstain from it in order to avoid offending some people who thought it is wrong to eat it. That is classic Pauline New Testament teaching. (Romans 14; I Corinthians 10:23-33)

    • @RickyVis

      Because his religion originally was just a bad copy of Judaism. In Judaism you can't eat pork because you can only eat animals with split hooves and that chew the cud. Pigs do not chew the cud so it's unclean, but things animals like camels and horses are unclean for the exact same reason.

    Hey Nuriyah, genuinely curious as to how you morally justify the consumption of animal products when they entail egregious amounts of unnecessary suffering. To me you’re clearly a very caring person and passionate about helping victims of oppression, so why be the oppressor or at least the oppressor by proxy to loads of animals that simply don’t need to be bred into this world to die for anybody’s taste pleasure.

      look, there are scientific studies which point out that plants can also suffers in their own ways, including when being subjected to things like harvest... just because they look further different than sapient beings like us or sentient beings like animals it doesn't mean you can be sure that you don't make it or them suffer...
      and then if such is so, then what? are you gonna just drink water and eat the air? this universe is so that we ought to consume other living things to survive, there is no escaping it...
      so unless we already live in star trek age where we can conjure food out of energy directly without involving other living things, then try not to evoke morality when it comes to food consumption... because it's silly...
      I have no problem with people promoting veganism for the sake of healthier diets or reducing environmental pollutions... but when you evoke moralism for it? no, sorry, it's stupid.

      “While this remarkable response is initiated by physical damage, the electrical warning signal is not equivalent to a pain signal, and we should not anthropomorphize an injured plant as a plant in pain. Plants have exceptional abilities to respond to sunlight, gravity, wind, and even tiny insect bites, but (thankfully) their evolutionary successes and failures have not been shaped by suffering, just simple life and death.”

    • @Usman012813
      @Usman012813 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your argument amounts to an appeal to futility at beast, and you clearly don’t understand how many crops need to be harvested to feed to the animals that end up being consumed. Perhaps watch some Earthling Ed videos, who covers pretty much every objection to having to live compassionately. That is what you’re doing, your objecting to the moral obligation to be a compassionate person, whether you realize it or not.

      What's the difference between anthropomorphizing plants and animals? It's a fallacy to assume that plants cannot suffer in their own ways just because they look different...

    • @Usman012813
      @Usman012813 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Napoleonic_S there’s no assumption here, it’s a difference of biology. Plants do not have a central nervous system or pain receptors as other non-human animals do. I’m not anthropomorphizing non-human animals, rather, you lack a basic understanding of their ability to suffer and seek to bestow on plants an ability yet demonstrated. Moreover, even if plants could suffer, if we are to strive to minimize suffering, as any rational person would do, then we would still have a moral obligation to consume plants exclusively, if possible. This is rather basic stuff, but hard to understand when you’re unwilling to give up the taste pleasure and convenience of animal products. Or perhaps you’re too arrogant to acknowledge that you’re the oppressor, in any event, you have not yet demonstrated that it’s okay to be cruel to animals, merely that in order to survive some “suffering” must occur. That however isn’t a blank check to cause needless cruelty to those well demonstrated to suffer, as mentioned before, an appeal to futility, and likely born of ignorance, arrogance, and an unwillingness to change. Have a good one.
