I'm not sure I would have noticed what with star-screams ashes all over my workbench and Galvatron stomping on his crown, but I'm glad to see that they have corrected their mistakes before star-scream could get the upper hand. Despite having a Titans Return Galvatron that has a 3D printed crown, chin and temple repaint, cannon bracket and the full Toyhax decal treatment, I won’t hesitate to grab this one. It’s a great time to be an old school TF fan. Really enjoying their Kingdom Beast Wars range. Sadly being in Australia, it’s a slow trickle. Keep up the great work matey.

@@chefatron I see they have shown up here in a store called Big W along with Rodimus at random. Hit or miss at the moment and we live in the countryside so I may chance an online order. I see photos posted from purchases here show the arm orientation is correct, so that’s a good sign. I don’t mind the pins facing front either so no big deal.

Great review as always man! Well I picked up my Rodimus and I had my Galvatron arrive and sure enough it was, as everyone continues to harp on about, miss assembled. Now quite frankly I’m actually glad it is, and my reason is that the shoulders look to sit too high up if they were to be “correctly constructed”. I have no intention in buying another because I believe it’s great the way it is. Plus I’ve already bought three frickin Rodimus Primes in the hunt for perfection. Even then I painted his wheels. And if you go back and look at some of the promo shots this Galvatron is constructed this way also. PS can’t wait to see your Rodimus review, and to all. . embrace the misassembled cause think about it , aren’t we all.
The shoulder pins facing forward is like an extra detail to me, and it doesn't bother me because the transformers are mechanical beings.. other wise, I have the pleasure of enjoying playing with this figure...
It's close enough for me :). Since I've completed my wave 2 few days ago (up to voyager, out of everything larger I was just interested in getting just BW Megatron, for obvious reason I've skipped on repack of Arcee), now I (im)patiently wait for wave 3 :). This one is a must-have for me since I already own both his buddies (on side note, I like the concept PvP worded in one of his reviews - that Skywarp and Thundercracker were turned into Scourge and Cyclonus while Insecticons became Sweeps/Armada). I think it would be fairly easy to remold this into Straxus, I hope Hasbro will do it someday :) (so far there are just rumors regarding Selects repaint in toy colours).
He was awesome in the original movie. Still not sure how I feel about the Christmas present-looking deco on his front. Or maybe he’s Swiss? Can’t un-see it! Either way, his robot proportions are great. I am sorry about the shoulder issue you have but thank you for the heads-up. I must have these three guys, though. I have Cyclonus and he is awesome. A but too lavender but everything else about him is really good. Scourge also looks fantastic except for his pink fingertips.. it’s like Hasbro does this on purpose to come just short of perfection so we keep buying. Nevertheless, Galvatron doesn’t even need an alt mode anyway
Good review Chef. Man, do not even trip about that shoulder "fix". you shouldn't have to damn-near break a toy just to fix a error. Screw that, I'm if I do not get the one with correct shoulders(rumor has it there's some out), if the bolt holes bother me I'd get some puddly or sticky to fill the holes, and find some purple pain that matches and go from there
This guy will be part of my very list of figures I wish I buy, but never will, since Galvatron's design is not just cooler, but also less problematic than his previous self, Megatron.

I got Galvs last week, he’s awesome! Just got Rhinox today at Target, he’s pretty neat! I didn’t care for the spaceship blasters but I did chrome paint the chain to make it look more real.
The first Transformers fiction I ever got exposure to as a child was the Japanese Headmasters series while living in Asia. Galvatron was also that one character I always wanted a toy of as a child but could never find. So for me, getting the Titans Return Galvatron was a childhood fantasy come true in more ways than one. It was also a birthday gift from my other half. Even if it's not objectively the best Transformer; if my house was on fire and I could only save one Transformer, TR Galvatron would likely be it. As nice as this Galvatron is, I can't comfortably afford to buy a Leader class figure, nor would I be willing to pawn the TR Galvatron to free up the funds. This new Galvatron is great, but there's a couple minor improvements I can name; like painting the chin black to give him his signature goatee. Also, instead of giving him those grey-coloured guns, I think it would have been more appropriate to give him a blast accessory. The good thing about a blast accessory is that it emphasises that Galvatron transforms into a cannon that shoots energy. Problem with Galvatron's alt-mode is that it's very ambiguous, and unless it's shown to shoot out something, I find myself needing to explain to non-fans what he turns into.
oh man, yeah when i got the takara tomy legends galvatron, i thought that was going to be the definitive galvatron for me... but the whole headmaster gimmick wasn't doing for me so i had to let it go... yes, you make a good point about substituting budget for the gray guns into blast effects man, your wife is so awesome to support your hobby :-) something we both have in common :-)

I can understand a lot of people are turned off by the headmaster gimmick. It essentially makes the Transformer into a parts-former. I'm in the strange situation of having received G1 Highbrow as my first Autobot as a child. Also a lot of the cartoons on TV at the time featured piloted mobile suits; like RoboTech, Patlabor, and Voltron. So for me, a Headmaster feels like just a regular Transformer. But yeah, I got into Transformers at a very strange time.
I finally got mine today. Toy's quite a 'lil heavy and feels premium. Love the colors. Somehow mine's got a corrected shoulder placement. Just waiting for my Scourge and Unicron's unholy trinity will be complete.
I use two butter knife to pop the pins out it was super easy barely a inconvenience the whole thing took me like 5 minutes there is a video showing you how to do it the only difference is that he uses two flat head screwdrivers but that can damage the plastic that i why i use butter knife any damage you may get is on the inside not visible also minimal

Fixing assembly issues is rough. Kinda related I remember having to sand down the plastic on generations Doubledealer to fix gaps and arm locking points. It came out pretty good thankfully but it just sucks because if you screw up you end up with either a worse looking figure or you're out a bunch of cash.
Great review...for ppl that don't have him yet please trust me, HE'S A HEFTY LEADER CLASS FIGURE!!! for once I feel like I got my money worth in a leader figure outside of Sky lynx...I love this Galvatron & for those ppl that have decided to stick with their POTP Galvatron, you're missing out on s great representation...

actually the legacy version is better than this one... I let go of my titans return version years ago because I had a hunch hasbro Takara Tomy would do something like this I think you should try and track down the legacy version instead of this because there's a high chance you might get mis-assembled shoulders if you buy the kingdom version
More I look at this guy, more I think he blows even the Legends version out of the water. Hoping that Hobby Korner doesn't stock him up right away and actually releases mine in October so that 1) Got more than enough for both him and Rodimus, and 2) better chance for the fixed shoulders. Still wish the cannon could be finagled for a flight configuration since full on jet mode would compromise both modes' awesomeness, but he looks like I can fiddle with the arms and legs a bit to make it work and make him some sort of weird ship...as is usual for Megatron and Galvatron. Only reason the battle damage bugs me is that it's the blue from the movie, according the HD versions. Almost like they're teasing that he could have been that blue, but instead they went with Season 3 purple. It's fine, but I was always more of a fan of his blue. Also, bug noises....marker of the heat. As if it's not the rainy season....inaykupo ang init....I thought it was gonna rain today (the day you posted this) Also, yes! Team CyclonusWarp! Apir!

I think the reason he looks stubby is his lower body. His crotchplate looks too small, his legs look too straight up to his feet. The Titans Return Galvatron had better legs, imo.

I think the reason he looks stubby is his lower body. His crotchplate looks too small, his legs look too straight up to his feet. The Titans Return Galvatron had better legs, imo.
