    Wow thanks man you're really helping me out a lot! I am 23 and currently starting to learn blender and 3d modelling to try to make a living out of this since my situation isn't the best here in my country and you are helping me a lot with your videos, It's always nice to have some person similar to a mentor in such things and you are really fitting in this role! Thanks again!!!

    Hi, thanks for the tutorial sir! I have a question: with that shader I try to have a label layer (just painted into the same mesh, no with 2 meshes like yours) above the glass but the label take the same opacity of the glass, doesn't matter if the layer is separate... Do you notice that?

    • @zerobio
      @zerobio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have a solution for this but I won't be able explain it here for another couple of hours as I am busy with my kids. I will write you back as soon as I can.

    • @zerobio
      @zerobio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Try this ... create an image the EXACT SAME SIZE as the one you want to stamp onto the glass, ie for a rectangular label. Make the background BLACK and the foreground (rectangular shape) WHITE. So you now have two images the same size, the WHITE SHAPE on black background and the LABEL graphic. Both should be SQUARE, ie. 1024x1024. Export as PNG. In SP, create your glass material with alpha blending and opacity channel. Add a PAINT LAYER above the glass. Import the image with white shape as an ALPHA and import the LABEL graphic as a TEXTURE. On the paint layer properties, drag the white shape alpha onto the ALPHA ZONE (you can see that in my screenshot) and drag the mushroom texture image onto the BASE COLOUR. Turn the OPACITY of the paint layer all the way UP TO 1 for no transparency and click/paint to add the decal. You can adjust the roughness, height, metallic as you wish before you stamp the decal down. The alpha provides a solid colour base behind the label but just remember to make them exactly the same size. If you need more explanation, write me at kimmelelliott@gmail.com and I will help you out.

    • @zerobio
      @zerobio  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I often use Eevee. There are other ways to get transparency to work in Cycles. If you just search for "opacity map in cycles" you should find something. If you can't get it to work in Cycles, let me know and I will help out.

    worked all the way until the very end :(
    the opacity came in inverted. where there was supposed to have opacity, it came out black, and for what was solid, it made it transparent. Any clue why?

    • @zerobio
      @zerobio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, if you are working in blender, a couple things I can think of: can you check that your polys are facing outwards on the glass. If they are facing inwards, you should flip them. That nay be something. Did you choose open GL in substance painter when you begin to bring in the model? If u let it default to direct x that may cause a problem, at least it does with normals. Did you set up the material properties in blender correctly with alpha blend or alpha hashed? Final thing you could try is, in the node setup, place an invert node after the opacity image map and see if that helps. Hope you can get it to work. If not, please consider writing me at kimmelelliott@gmail.com and attach a few screenshots of your node tree, your model with glass etc and we can try to solve it. Perhaps send your blend file, actually.

    May I ask a question here ? What If we had to write over the transparent surface a text that isnt transparent ? Or a logo ? I have tried and it works on Iray but In Blender (Cycles) the transparency channel seems to influence the solid letters (or logo) as well

      Hang on and I will write later but make sure you connect the nodes in blender correctly, ie opacity.png and transparent node thru mix shader. Also make sure you have enabled alpha blend for material. You may want to try backface culling on the material too. Then see if that all works for you and let me know. Otherwise take a screenshot of your nodes and email me at kimmelelliott@gmail.com so we can talk further. Don't give up, it will work.
