Seen it 4 times in IMAX, once on a regular theater screen, already have my ticket to watch it in IMAX again this saturday. Bought the digital version for a coworker to show the movie to her family and brought another coworker to see it... twice, because she wanted to see it again, lol.
One of the best films made in the last decade at least, if for no other reason than what it represents. This is the embodiment of the movie we want when we say “they don’t make them like they used to”. Phenomenal.

I might be mistaken but Tom Cruise is basically the first to pull off this since Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron made T2 Judgment day. Hollywood have done ridiculous number of attempts with everyting from Indiana Jones to Robocop being fails. I would mention Total Recall but it was released in 1990

It’s one thing to make a great sequel right after the original, but making a great sequel after 30 years? That’s something else entirely. Star Wars failed, Jurassic Park didn’t necessarily fail but it didn’t go well. Top Gun: Maverick is truly a unique accomplishment and I don’t know how Tom and the team pulled it off

It’s a future dystopian setting so your free to write any story and has a new lead so your not tied into how that character is still a serving officer etc. Top Gun was an 80s feel good movie with many character arcs and to tie up all those things to make a sequel 30 years later that stays true to the original but also looked fresh on the screen is indeed a first and I doubt we will see a repeat of that success in our life time. Point to note, it honoured the original material without any PC nonsense and ticked all the boxes. I mean, they even managed to find a plausible way to put him back in the cockpit of an F14 for goodness sake which, for all of us was a must as the Tomcat became as much of a star as Maverick in the movie as well as a great way to say why he was still in the Navy with him being a test pilot plus iceman becoming the main man so always looked out for him. Look at all the variables and it’s never been done and not even close. On another note, many people were not satisfied with BR 2049 fans included as it was a little underwhelming. In contrast Top Gun fans were blown away and could see how much thought went into delivering in so many expectations.
Tom gets better by age. Got tagged as a weirdo by the press. But talents talent. Will always come out on top. And this guy has been top of the game for 30 odd years

Watching this movie at home on Paramount Plus would not have done it justice. This movie has to be seen on the big screen first. We may never see a movie like this again with so much actual flying with actors in the plane and operating the cameras.
It feels weird to say it but yes. Its 10/10. It also have a average of 99% audience score at rotten tomaties with 50.000+ people having rated it. Thats insane.
Then the pandemic hit, and he held it back until we can properly watch it in theaters in 2022. Worth the wait. An homage to the original. Real jets and high speed maneuvers. Real Gs on the actors.
Waiting with its release until covid is over just shows how much love and care they put in to the movie. Clearly not just another Hollywood cash grab blockbuster.

I would say you really have to strongly consider him as the greatest actor in history! I have yet to see a film he has made where he looks like he is struggling to deliver lines, or appears out of his element. I've literally seen the whole film 4 times in theatres, and it doesn't get old. This is one of those rare few films that will keep you on your toes and interested, invested and absorbed regardless of if you know whats gonna happen. Definitely one of my favourite movies of all time, and defo worth the wait

i was born in 91, and i watched top gun literally few nights ago (for the first time). I knew what it was, herd of it, just never saw it until now, and i must say, it is easily one of the best movies i have ever seen. Its in my top 2 (Termiantor 2 being number 1).
I disagree. I personally grew up watching top gun all day every day. I was 2 when it came out. So I agree it is different for us. BUT Top Gun is a very well known movie. There are tons of teens and 20 year olds who know the movie and have watched it.
What I love about Tom Cruise is it seems he genuinely enjoys the art of film making. He is not one of the newer breed that's just in it for the paycheck. And I love that he isn't part of the crowd that churns out the same movies over and over and over. Yes I know there have been a bunch of mission impossible movies but usually all his stuff is pretty unique.

Saw the movie on opening weekend on IMAX. Saw this clip on my recommended and clicked to see how it all began 2 yrs ago. This trailer still gave me goosebumps even after seeing the film. So well done.
I was 13... The music, F-14s, Maverick, Goose, Iceman, Jester, Viper, Charlie (then not now), motorcycles, I lost that loving feeling, Goose!!!! 😢, and more. The movie made a lifelong impression on me... I was 13... it gives me chills to hear the opening. Memories flood back from 33 years ago like they were yesterday.
Unfortunately I was only 8 when it was out so could not see for a while and definitely no cinema, after saw it, fav film for, still watch multiple times times a year and wishing my life to get to an imax to watch this....................................................

Considering in JUST its opening weekend it became the 7th highest grossing film of 2022. Watching it in cinema was something else, like just wow, I love the original. I was a good 15 years off being born when it came out but I love it to bits, and Maverick has the perfect balance of respecting the legacy of the original, whilst also being able to hold its own story. and Who ever casted Miles Teller as Rooster deserves a huge bonus, you knew exactly who he was before he was introduced
After watching the film and seeing how passionate he was about making it just shows how great something can be when an actor truly cares about their project!
I wasn’t born in the time that Top Gun came out so I didn’t really have that much of a connection to it and so that’s why I personally think that Top Gun Maverick is better than the original I’ve seen it twice and it’s a very rewatchable film

The lack of self-awareness some people show in regards to their inferior capabilites mostly shows itself in lack of respect. That someone thinks that he has a right for my time and attention just because "they want it now" is extremely irritating. I would say you really have to strongly consider him as the greatest actor in history! I have yet to see a film he has made where he looks like he is struggling to deliver lines, or appears out of his element. Well he's had three promotions though as wasn't he a lieutenant in the original movie and they are naval pilots.
I've literally seen the whole film 4 times in theatres, and it doesn't get old.
This is one of those rare few films that will keep you on your toes and interested, invested and absorbed regardless of if you know whats gonna happen.

i was born in 91, and i watched top gun literally few nights ago (for the first time). I knew what it was, herd of it, just never saw it until now, and i must say, it is easily one of the best movies i have ever seen. Its in my top 2 (Termiantor 2 being number 1).
I disagree. I personally grew up watching top gun all day every day. I was 2 when it came out. So I agree it is different for us. BUT Top Gun is a very well known movie. There are tons of teens and 20 year olds who know the movie and have watched it.
Only a legend could pull it off. I'm so happy this got made.

What I love about Tom Cruise is it seems he genuinely enjoys the art of film making. He is not one of the newer breed that's just in it for the paycheck. And I love that he isn't part of the crowd that churns out the same movies over and over and over. Yes I know there have been a bunch of mission impossible movies but usually all his stuff is pretty unique.
But in each mission impossible he takes it a level up.

I think the best part about the movie finally coming out is that it's going to inspire entire future generations of aviators.
After seeing Top Gun: Maverick I have the utmost respect and admiration for Tom Cruise. That movie is one of the very best I have ever seen and had the pleasure to watch in the cinema.

I was 13... The music, F-14s, Maverick, Goose, Iceman, Jester, Viper, Charlie (then not now), motorcycles, I lost that loving feeling, Goose!!!! 😢, and more. The movie made a lifelong impression on me... I was 13... it gives me chills to hear the opening. Memories flood back from 33 years ago like they were yesterday.
Unfortunately I was only 8 when it was out so could not see for a while and definitely no cinema, after saw it, fav film for, still watch multiple times times a year and wishing my life to get to an imax to watch this....................................................

It was、 freaking epic！ Highly recommend everyone to renew their cinema experience、we've all gotten lost in the Netflix at home experience and forgotten the real buzz of the cinema screen. I saw it in 4DX and 4DX was indeed made for this type of movie. Unforgettable ride. By the way、during the 4DX experience、 take a moment to watch other peoples reactions around the room...Pure enjoyment.

Considering in JUST its opening weekend it became the 7th highest grossing film of 2022. Watching it in cinema was something else, like just wow, I love the original. I was a good 15 years off being born when it came out but I love it to bits, and Maverick has the perfect balance of respecting the legacy of the original, whilst also being able to hold its own story. and Who ever casted Miles Teller as Rooster deserves a huge bonus, you knew exactly who he was before he was introduced
