Gosh! This single interview sums up my entire childhood. This man has made incredible movies and has never, NEVER disappointed ever. Even when he speaks about other movies, he still kills it. TC is forever. :) Thanks for the video.
Probably one of the best Cruise interviews I've ever seen. You see how intelligent and down to earth the guy is, even after all that fame and fourtune. Great stuff.
I don't think there is any other actor that genuinely loves movies as Tom Cruise does. Brilliant actor, polite, courteous and for me he really defines the modern day 'movie star'.
Hanks, Streep, De Niro (even though his later movies are mediocre), DiCaprio, Pitt, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington and a few others. . .Cruise does tend to draw the bigger revenues with blockbusters though.
Tom Cruise. An absolute legend. He is friendly, inspiring and always trying to make movies better than they were originally written, I bet he can be a pain to directors sometimes but in the end it is worth it. I enjoy his movies no matter what role he plays.
Great comments. Though I’ve read and seen interviews where every director he’s ever worked with is in love with him because he’s so committed to seeing the movie succeed.
I agree. I think of the 'superstars' of yesteryears, he is the only one the term still applies to today. Movie after movie, people are walking in to the MI franchise just coz of him. In this day and age, I can't think of any other star that gets people into theatres just on his name alone.
These are always absolutely the best interviews of all time. I’m embarrassed to say I can’t recall the name of the interviewer, but I have watched all his Marvel content and I’m so impressed by his in-depth level of knowledge. Tom Cruise is one of my favorite actors. I’m 40 years old and my entire life (as far as I can remember) has been jam packed with outstanding movies. From Risky Business, Legend, and Top Gun to Tropic Thunder, Edge of Tomorrow, and back around to Top Gun again. This dude is so dedicated to his art he pulled off being a white American samurai; I mean who the hell else in earth could do that? Just a phenomenal actor and for the love of god does he ever really age. The guy looks better at 60 than most men at 40 lol. I swear he physically ages at 1/2 the rate of the rest of humanity.
Legend This guy flew a helicopter in a dangerous sequence, while acting and controlling the cameras and all alone in the helicopter. Nobody has ever even attempted that. He's the man
7:25 the guy starts to mention from the top of his head some of the classics from old cinema, he is an excellent committed actor, he knows what he is doing, he has a good background on the topic, he uses no stuntmen, Tom Cruise when making a film is the translation of the word PROFESSIONAL!
I love it when Tom said he loves the movies. He's a master of his craft and even loves old gens movies. Most people today, don't give a fick about old movies.
I wouldn't say he's a bad person. Extremely deluded and brainwashed, but not a bad guy. To be fair, most religions sound as ridiculous as Scientology to me. I don't get why they tend to be singled out.
Excellent interview. Got so much of Cruise's psyche and passion in Cruise's words. Too many interviews are the interviewer being cute making it all about him. This delved into how Cruise practices his craft.
I’m a big Tom Cruse fan. I watched tropical thunder and I didn’t know he was in it until the last scene when he’s watching the oscars with that tom cruse relaxed posture and his signature smile on his face. Awesome acting. Worthy of an Oscar
Tom cruise is a pioneer of his craft! This interviewer excels in the task of the interview! They both seem like good people with good manners and respect. Which is probably the best formula for their success.
The thing I love best about Tom is his sense of play. He enjoys having fun and laughing. I'm guessing that's his best side...want to see it more!!!!! 🤣
Biggest movie legend in the world, period! The fact that the Academy hasn't given him an Oscar yet, is simply a tragedy. Whether you like the guy or not, Tom Cruise has the most impressive track record in Hollywood, and he should've won more than one Oscar by now. Mostly, I think he got robbed when he was nominated for "Born on the 4th of July" where he delivered a breathtaking performance :/
Michael Holmgaard Plus he was not even nominated for some of his greatest roles-- Collateral, Interview With the Vampire, Tropic Thunder, Last Samurai etc. He is really really really underrated.
I think he's beyond those awards. He never expressed any real interest on those anyway(i think he actually not a fan of the idea of a paid award). Acting, stunts and learning new tricks is where his passion lie.
Michael Holmgaard He’s consistently solid. Every film. Even in the few not so good ones he’s done, he puts all of himself in every single role. I don’t think any other actor has successfully pulled off, to near the level he has... Action, Drama, Comedy, fantasy, sci-fi, Romantic Comedy.... Pretty much every genre in the game. It’s nuts. Biggest movie star ever in my opinion. Harrison Ford isn’t the same level of actor as Tom, but between Harrison and Tom, the two of them cover probably 15 of my top 20 favorite all time films.
The chemistry between Tom and Ali is sensational and the mutual respect is wonderful. It's hard not to have a smile on your face while watching them and you can see how this legendary actor loves being interviewed by this virtuoso interviewer. Regardless of what various philistines complain about Tom Cruise, he is undeniably a living legend and Ali Plumb puts to shame the saying "There are no statues for critics".

He dropped out of high school? So. He's obviously bright. College graduates don't necessarily mean you are smart or educated. Half the time it means you were born upper middle class or higher. Dad had money to send you to four years of fraternity or sorority school, while majoring in business or something. Universities need money too. Jay Leno did a Jay walking bit on tonight show. Asking questions to random people. True story, he asked a girl with a college degree who the president was. She didn't know. She said I don't follow politics.
I have such a massive respect for Tom Cruise. He takes NOTHING for granted. He is in love with movies, and gives 100% of himself to them. True movie star to the core. Zero posing. I don't care about any of the crap out there about scientology or whatever. He is this guy you can see here.
@@ashash1927 Cruise does a great villain/unlikeable character, shame he's been choosing mostly Mission Impossible type movies. My favourite part of his career is probably 90s to Tropic Thunder, he really did have a large variety of roles while still churning the occasional quality action film. If you like Cruise in Collateral as the villain, he's also villainous/not the traditional protagonist in Interview with the Vampire, Magnolia and to a lesser extend Vanilla Sky. Magnolia is a top 5, maybe even all time best Cruise performance for me.

But when it comes to movies, he just transcends. Can’t knock the guy at all. He knows his skill set and doesn’t go for roles that don’t particularly suit him but he’s great at what he does...which just happens to be dancing around in a fat suit
I love Tom, he's a such a boss, puts 200%in every role and it shows. Never gets old watching him roll
Les Grossman was hilarious. The fact that he defined the look was genius.
One of the best interviews of anyone I've ever seen, got a lot out of Tom. He was relaxed and having fun.
I don’t think we appreciate this man enough. He is a treasure
I mean, his work speaks for itself, the problem is that he is also in a cult and has been abusive to his wife, and is pretty soulless at times.

It Happened One Night is just a great film. It's freaking hilarious. I respect Tom Cruise for liking old Hollywood classics.
HIS PERFORMANCE IN COLLATERAL IS OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Absolutely! Totally chilling and a bit terrifying. He creeped me out hard core in that one.
yet he was super cool! like literally a wolf come to life or a tree werewolf story
Joe Coe his best
He was fantastic
My favorite movie with Tom Cruise, and Les Grossman is my favorite character for sure.
Probably one of the best Cruise interviews I've ever seen. You see how intelligent and down to earth the guy is, even after all that fame and fourtune. Great stuff.
It's all an act for Scientology. The guy's a nut job. But he's a great actor.
I don't think there is any other actor that genuinely loves movies as Tom Cruise does. Brilliant actor, polite, courteous and for me he really defines the modern day 'movie star'.
Hes and idiot
Salt AU he does his own stunts as well
He was spectacular in Magnolia,Collateral,Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, etc.
If you think about it probably the only actor that remains a top star in the business since the 80's until now .So much respect from Tom
Miguel Fernandes Keanu Reeves. Sandra Bullock. Sarah Jessica Parker.
Miguel Fernandes only really Tom Hanks I can think of to be honest.
Hanks, Streep, De Niro (even though his later movies are mediocre), DiCaprio, Pitt, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington and a few others. . .Cruise does tend to draw the bigger revenues with blockbusters though.
Julia Roberts hasn't done anything relevant in years.
Poppers 73 Homecoming is great. . .just because it’s TV, doesn’t mean she hasn’t done anything. It is a great show (season one only so far.)
It's rare to see an interview where Tom Cruise is relaxed and personable. This is probably the best I've seen so far.
The mummy disagrees
He's actually easy to deal with on set supposedly
People focus on his religion and bad media but anyone that denies his impact on the film industry is crazier than they say he is
R K gotta agree.
Word!!!
I agree. I think of the 'superstars' of yesteryears, he is the only one the term still applies to today. Movie after movie, people are walking in to the MI franchise just coz of him. In this day and age, I can't think of any other star that gets people into theatres just on his name alone.
@@binaldoshi495 There are sure some others lile Christoph Waltz, Bryan Cranston, Keanu Reeves, Dwayne Johnson, Danzel Washington etc.
What religion is Tom Cruise? Scandinavian?
These are always absolutely the best interviews of all time. I’m embarrassed to say I can’t recall the name of the interviewer, but I have watched all his Marvel content and I’m so impressed by his in-depth level of knowledge. He truly interviews in a way that no other interviewer has mastered. He makes it fun. Give him a massive raise!

Legend
This guy flew a helicopter in a dangerous sequence, while acting and controlling the cameras and all alone in the helicopter. Nobody has ever even attempted that.
He's the man
Can you imagine quoting jerry Maguire with tom cruise.
seriously - if that ever happened to me I would have died
I would faint.
This is my fav Tom Cruise interview. You did a great job.
I love Tom Cruise and most of his films.
No one has mentioned how brilliant he was as Lestat in Interview with a Vampire.
Everybody has mentioned how good he is as Lestat
The praise that movie has justifiably received over the years is insane
Oh, they did back in the day
Anne Rice was against him playing the role but changed her tune after it came out.
Anytime Cruise plays a bad guy he’s brilliant: Collateral, Magnolia, Tropic Thunder, & Interview With A Vampire.
Say what you want about him as a person...but as a filmmaker and actor the guy NEVER phones it in. Always awesome to watch!
Colin Farrell as The Penguin = Tom Cruise as Les Grossman.
Unbelievable performances by them both and you didn't even realize it was them!
Great take and spot on comparison.
Lol I had no idea that the penguin was Collin Ferrell! 😱🤦🏼♂️🤣

Worked for a few months on the WB lot in Burbank. When he came through the gate, one of thee nicest people, you'll ever meet, hands down!
I’m a big Tom Cruse fan. I watched tropical thunder and I didn’t know he was in it until the last scene when he’s watching the oscars with that tom cruse relaxed posture and his signature smile on his face.
Awesome acting. Worthy of an Oscar
Tropic thunder
The fact Tom Cruise still knew that line word for word is pretty impressive.
give this man his own talk show, instead of james corden like seriously (the interviewer i mean)
Heyyy James Corden is adorable and so so sweet. These are two interviewers with different styles that dont compare to each other
I like Ali Plumb a lot but i don't think he should be talk show host. Those type of programs require someone with more energy.
the easily entertained crowd is who he's there for.
The last 2 minutes talk about his favorite movies proves this guy is a god damn genius when it comes to acting.
Love that Tom mentions movies you wouldn't think he'd appreciate and even know. That shows he's an actor who really loves the art !!!!
Tom cruise is a pioneer of his craft! This interviewer excels in the task of the interview!
They both seem like good people with good manners and respect. Which is probably the best formula for their success.

Les Grossman is one of his best characters.
He's savagely Ripping on Hollywood producers/ Elite's.

" Get yourself a G-5, son!"
The thing I love best about Tom is his sense of play. He enjoys having fun and laughing. I'm guessing that's his best side...want to see it more!!!!! 🤣
His laughter is authentic as Fallon's.
Michael Holmgaard
Plus he was not even nominated for some of his greatest roles-- Collateral, Interview With the Vampire, Tropic Thunder, Last Samurai etc.
He is really really really underrated.
I think he's beyond those awards. He never expressed any real interest on those anyway(i think he actually not a fan of the idea of a paid award). Acting, stunts and learning new tricks is where his passion lie.
How he didn’t win an Oscar for Rainman will always confound me.
Michael Holmgaard
He’s consistently solid.
What the complete fuck?
This is another manela effect situation for me, i specifically remember he won an oscar for that.
Mind blown
The chemistry between Tom and Ali is sensational and the mutual respect is wonderful. It's hard not to have a smile on your face while watching them and you can see how this legendary actor loves being interviewed by this virtuoso interviewer. Regardless of what various philistines complain about Tom Cruise, he is undeniably a living legend and Ali Plumb puts to shame the saying "There are no statues for critics".

Being played by Tom, in disguise. Didn't know it was him until the closeup. Saw the eyes and realised it was Tom.
He was great, but limited. RDJ carried that film on his back minus the Cruise scenes.

Patriot Jefferson I mean to say that any other Industry he would not have got even an entry job it is the entertainment industry which is open for all.

If you like Cruise in Collateral as the villain, he's also villainous/not the traditional protagonist in Interview with the Vampire, Magnolia and to a lesser extend Vanilla Sky. Magnolia is a top 5, maybe even all time best Cruise performance for me.
