It’s hard to find anything good on this game, unlike its more famous cousin AoE2. This was a simple and concise video that helps educate the player on WHY you are doing said things in the build order. I look forward to more when you can squeeze the time for them. I just got this game as a 4 pack for a bunch of grizzly old heads who only played DoW back in the day.
Thanks for your kind words, it seems many simply want a 30 second build order list but I prefer to know the reasons why. Hope you lads have fun with the game, I'll certainly churn out more on this, and other RTS games as real life allows.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if you click on another library upgrade before science is finished researching then it does not apply the discount from having science 1. It may be worth waiting until science is researched first if you're really into that min/max econ.

I appreciate you and this video because unfortunately I missed the initial hype about the game but it's like a fine wine compared to other RTS
As for tough Ai defence, they usually attack on 11-13 minutes (at least on toughest) on medieval or gunpowder age. Of course this depends on map size though, this is for standard size. If they rush you, at minute 5-8 and age 2/3 (without supply wagon), the attack can usually be dealt with only a tower (+ attrition damage) and garrisoning city. It's not always the best choice, especially if you want to be aggressive and counter-attack them after, however I find this usually spares more resources and gives you an edge in the game. So you only really need to create troops at around 10 minutes (I also find that stables is underrated for early defense against AI)
Just want to say for the market, technically having it closer to the city you are going to have it go to first is better- it gives wealth the first next city it goes to so its faster. But the difference is minimal.
Im pretty new and I don't understand the market cap sometimes, it says the commerce limit is +100 right, but sometimes I have resources like food that say +214 even though my market cap limit is +100

hi i am new to this game. i want to ask something when u slect your towncenter there is wood cutter,farm and other in a red flag what it mean ,and how i do it?
Hello! When your town centre is selected you can hit f to set up a rally point at your farms. When your next villager is created they will go directly to one of your farms. You can also hit w for a wood cutter camp or m for a mine if that's what you need at the time, it's very useful so you can create the villagers and think about something else without having to allocate them manually. Enjoy!
I don't think I did anything special to zoom out that far. I suggest taking a look in your settings as there may be something that I can't remember. It's possible your resolution will make it feel more zoomed in, I'm playing on 1920x1080. I hope that helps!
@box7147 Science is one of the fundamental resources and is used for many many things throughout the game. Merchants are sent to claim a special resource which provide a particular bonus. Special resources spawn randomly so you never know what you're going to get, but once you find one you send a merchant to claim it for yourself to receive a nice bonus.
When you have the required resources / buildings / technology you click on the library and you'll see at the top the option to click a new age. They have Roman Numerals and don't have the Blue, Green, Red, Yellow that the other technologies have. I hope that helps!
@@twiglets2 True. I love going for the temple late age 1, then getting cheaper taxation. Then Colossus in late age 2, you can get like 250+ wealth income by mid age 3, it's insane. Of course I'm talking about standard here, the best game mode :)

At least in the extended edition this is wrong. You do get the discount payed back right after science is finished.

I still play this game whenever I get time. This game never gets old. But I regret that Microsoft never launched its newer versions.

Hm, I don't think I've done something special with the zoom, maybe it's the resolution you have it set to? I use 1920 / 1080.

Egypt because it has 7 farms for city,then you should build red square and colossus as wonders

Some nations are poor in wealth so it's better research taxation with them. romans, persians etc. doesnt need that much but turks, mongols etc do
It's fun to research taxation with the British and watch the wealth roll in though!
