    As an AKC certified breeder of Yorkshire Terriers, I recommend not using the term "teacup." There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie. They are just called Yorkshire Terriers. The breed standard is from 3lbs to 7lbs. Anything outside of this weight range is not breed standard. In contrast, there are some breeds that do have different size categories. For example, Poodles come in three sizes: Standard, miniature, and toy. Each size category has a different set of standards set by the American Kennel Club. Yorkies are not split into different size categories. Unfortunately in the Yorkie world, there are some bad breeders who use the terms teacup, micro, or miniature to falsely describe their puppies so that they can ask for more money.
    Other than that, your pup looks very happy and healthy. Congrats on your new friend. Be good to them and they will be good to you. Good luck!

    If your puppy is young DO NOT allow people to handle your pet or allow your dog to walk outside until he/she is old enough because it can get Parco
    2.keep water & food down at all times
    3. Feed the best food(do research
    3.use best shampoo & conditioner
    4.do not allow kids to hold your small dog because they can drop your dog, and broken bones are not cheap

    My tea cup yorkie is now 8 years old. He loves clothes lol. He wears a shirt everyday and loves it. You did great on your video! Your going to be a great dog mom! Yorkies are so smart and so loving but they can be very stubborn and rule the house lol. My dog is potty trained on pee pads and outside. It took him a bit in the beginning to be trained but as long as your consistent she will get it. If your dog ever has tummy problems a teaspoon of pumpkin baby food or pumpkin in a can will help them with constipation or diarrhea. It works for both. Your fur baby is so adorable!

    I could only find X-small in a harness and it was too big for my baby. I wound up getting him a Ferret harness. He’s 4 months old and a little over a pound. I was told he won’t grow much more. I’m home all the time so I leave the food and water out for him all day until it’s bed time. For me it totally works because I’m always around to redirect. He’s actually really good. He only has like 1 pee accident a day. He always poops on the pad. I have a water bottle attached to his crate too. I put a blanket over his crate at night and leave a small ticking clock nearby. He sleeps through the night and doesn’t fuss. His breeder did an awesome job of preparing him for a furever home. I’ve had other dogs in the past but my “Chewie” is the best. Totally loving him.❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @ThereIsSoulInArt
      @ThereIsSoulInArt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have heard of rawhide getting lodged in their mouth & expanding in size from moisture in the mouth & basically choking them to death. I feel bully sticks are a better choice but our furbabies shouldn't be left unsupervised with any hard chew IMHO. I have 3 sweet Yorkies, 2 boys & a girl. The boys are 4# & the girl is about 8#.

    • @aprilwellman4240
      @aprilwellman4240 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Margie Bos Krebs never rawhides!!!!!!! It is irresponsible to make a video that suggests something so harmful. Whimzees, long ziggies for puppies, We really like whimzees, greenies, zuke’s’, dr Lyons and smart bones & sticks which are yogurt based or any another fully digestible and all come in tiny sizes that they can continue enjoy throughout their life and can go up in size as they get bigger.
      We rescued a 1.3 lb Yorkie mix (with Maltese we believe), that was one of three rescues we have kept. She was approx four months at the time, and she ended up being five lbs by the time she was finally done growing around a year old. We kept her because of some health issues she does have due to likely either overbreeding or trying to breed down to get these little dogs which angers me. I wish she was twice the size she is because now she is prone to things like luxating patellar and cannot jump on or off of things, has heart issues, and so much more. All because of greed. N bone, get naked and virbac make puppy specific products that she liked too. Blue buffalo also has one that is grain free. Even pedigree dentastix is better than a rawhide, just please do not, do rawhides in a dog that size esp and definitely NOT from the dollar store since those come from China. Give your dogs quality foods and treats as you would want for yourself.

      @@ThereIsSoulInArt I fully agree with your comment about rawhide, definitely not a good choice. Bully sticks are far better for dogs, supervise and remove when the stick gets to be 2 inches long so as not to cause a choking hazard. The best are single ingredient sticks, made in Canada or US, never never China.

  • @curiouslyt2123
    @curiouslyt2123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Diet is very very important and also chocking hazards, I gave one of the teacup pups that was the runt of his litter a small piece of tuna or chicken and I turned my head for 5 seconds only to turn around, look back down to see if blackie wanted more and he was on his back with all fours in the air, I yelled omg and immediately got down to him and tried carefully to get the piece loved in his tiny through out and was ready to do cpr if he compleatly blacked out, thankfully he didn’t get a chance to really swallow, it’s was just the piece was too far back for him to move it and chew it so I was able to remove it. After that I felt mini heart attacks every time it was feeding time for the litter. Chocking is common with such tiny tiny dogs especially when their pups! The tiniest yourkie in the world dies from falling out of its owners hand. It’s not a good idea to constantly carry them everywhere, they need to be aloud to walk on their own as often as possible or else they get very very yappy because ppl always carry around their lil dogs and they get to hover over all other dogs. Not being a human, dogs that small constantly hovering over all the other dogs including big dogs gives them as humans call it a “big head”. Ppl pick their small dogs up whenever their around larger dogs out of fear instead of just monitoring the situation so they don’t get proper socialization around big dogs and ppl should not fear this. We all seen videos of tiny dogs around big dogs claim their space or toys and the other bigger dogs take note. But if ppl always pick up their small dogs and not allow them to learn how to find their place, you’ll end up with a very annoying adult barking yappy dog which isn’t so cute when their fully grown constantly barking at everything and everyone. So other than research on care, training is very very important and hopefully you can fight the urge to carry it everywhere all the time. It’s called small dog syndrome when you look up training of small dogs. Other than that they are great companions. Unfortunately a bad behaving small dog is still gonna behave badly in your purse if not properly trained and looking into small dog syndrome should be a big help and catch it early so you won’t have to retrain them as adults. It’s a phycological thing that happens to them when they are constantly being carried around apart from physically in not the sense of not getting enough exercise. It’s like what happens to a human once they go from having to walk everywhere to now driving everywhere that’s why bus drivers are on the heavy side you notice if they also own their own car. Ppl that drive tend to feel also better than or better off than ppl they see walking but walkers are healthier by far. So it’s kind of like that what I’m getting at.

I have a teacup shorkie puppy (CRUMB) and a 10 year old shihtzu (COOKIE). I have been feeding Cookie home made food for most all her life (cooked lean meat such as chicken/beef, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower or butternut squash with some brown rice or boiled/scrambled eggs). I also provide dehydrated treats (such as liver and duck). So glad to see you took out the raw-hides. 🙂 Thanks for your help/reply.

    10:38 esophagus is the muscular tube that helps food get from the oral cavity to the stomach. The TRACHEA is what can be damaged by the collar, also causing fractures of the bones in the larynx. Excessive caughing in little dogs can cause a tracheal collapse as well... I have a 7yr old yorkie and did extensive research too

      Evelyn Hurtado This goes for any small breed. I have Papillons and one time they came home from the groomers and cough for a couple of days. I knew then they had used a leash around their necks. I put a stop to that, now they put it around their bodies and they're just fine.

    • @irmagutosicrealtor-bostonl254
      @irmagutosicrealtor-bostonl254 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly Evelyn. Yorkies are known for collapsing trachea. I had mine 6lbs for 16 years and we dealt with collapsing trachea for a long time. I have also been diabetic for 36 years and have low blood sugars often, never had a seizure in my life. My pup wouldn't eat when I got him, he was actually always finicky eater and when they told me about the low blood sugars he might have I was scared to death. Again, never seizure. Buying any food item at the $ store for your dog can never be a good idea. Giving advice based on what you are reading and actually have no experience with any of this is also not a good idea.

My Vet has said that they have seen instances and that some dogs do not survive it... also rawhide is a huge no...pcs can break off and be dislodged in their throats...

    from what I've learned, "teacup yorkies" is not a "thing" per se. I heard they are just runts of litters, and people breed runts with other runts making smaller puppies, BUT the danger is that they tend to be very delicate healthwise. :(
    but I'm not claiming what i said was true, I simply heard that.

    • @kikie.5997
      @kikie.5997 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you are saying is 100% true. There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. I fell for the “teacup” title on my first yorkie. She was such a sweet girl but since being breed to be small she had a collapsing trachea at a really early age. She had to be euthanized because she had an episode of breathing difficulties she could not come out of at the age of 5. Miss her to bits.

    • @AnaDMTL
      @AnaDMTL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kikie.5997 I'm so sorry to hear this. Yeah, these "breeders" are everywhere, selling puppies with physical problems because they are just so small they can't develop properly. "Teacup" does not exist. just bad breeders.

    Yorkies are the best dogs to have for companionship. They do have a higher amount of health problems if not taken care of properly. They can get liver, pancreas, and other barely noticeable health problems. Don’t give too much sugar and always keep the fat content in their diet to a minimum. Yorkies are very smart and often gravitate toward liking the things they know are healthy for them. But they are still dogs and will mostly eat everything you give them so just feed them a healthy well balanced diet to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. Liver enzymes and other supplements that can aid digestion are great as well.
