    Top pair is usually good enough to call down a lag, but once in a blue moon you need to call them with Ace high or bottom pair, let them know you can't be pushed off a hand. Even if they have you beat in the future they are going to think twice about betting with pure air on the river if you've called 3 barrells with as little as a pair of deuces on this occasion, that's where LAG's make their money is by making you lay down hands that have them beat so every time you fold a pair of any sort you are playing into their strength.

    • @mrchii4908
      @mrchii4908 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The worst enemy of a lag is a calling station.
      My mantra to beat lags is the next one ,
      "Strong is weak , weak is strong "
      When they act weak or passive they are mostly hiding a monster and when they act pretty aggressive they might have a pocket pair or high card.

    I have 3 Lags in our home game. Until recently, it has been quite difficult to navigate through each, many times, all 3 in a single hand. Trial and error has been my pilgrimage. Thank you for polishing up some of the things I have learned. More in depth content will be greatly improved.

    Being in a position to act after the LAG most of the time is probably one of the most important considerations...ideally if there's one solid LAG that's controlling the action, take the seat to his immediate left if you aren't there already. If you can't get seated in this spot right away then request a seat change as soon as that seat vacates.

    • @marknoble5495
      @marknoble5495 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. One issue with that is where I play we have the Mississippi straddle where button gets first option and the option moves to his right. So the lag will straddle a lot from a lot of positions and you will be first to act preflop or if you choose to straddle, you give him late position preflop with every opportunity to basically act as the straddle.

  • @marknoble5495
    @marknoble5495 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Solid advice. Still true today.

  • @cosplaytimecapsule
    @cosplaytimecapsule 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Against LAGs, the only way to beat them is to 4-bet them with air pre-flop and be willing to go all in with anything pre basically. Because youre not gonna beat them if you let them see that flop.

    Lets not forget about the other players at the table. While your focused on the lag the tight player is sitting next to you with the nuts. The lag will be smart enough to get out of the way while you just built a big pot for the fish.

    Or play LAG back? I noticed LAGs don't really need the hassle from LAG play. If you have top pair, high enough kicker, start to check-raise flops, especially the turn. Eventually, they turn down the energy or just outright fold when you get in preflop.

    • @gripsed

    There's a guy at micros who is a pure strong lag. He's sitting on multiple buyins stacks everytime I meet him at the tables. A 100nl pro told me this guy used to play 100nl and he was considered a legend there. I have no idea why he downgraded stakes so much. But he is contantly crushing everybody who steps in is path since many years. He is a 32/28/4 on my sample. So I'm trying hard to widen my range to get closer to those stats and man... LAG's life is risky business. Variance kicks in contantly and the ups and downs get bigger.

    I've played with aggressive and loose players. Most of the time, I noticed, they can call you with a middle pair or lower pair. So when you guys feels it is the time to make a raise, do it with confidence. If they have the nuts, they'll reraise. They do bluff sometimes, but count their stack, if they have less chips, prepare to put all IN.

    my today's tourney results: i have AK, this LAG calls All in with Q3 offsuit, i have AK. he hits 3 and wins.
    second situation: i have poket 66, i go all in cause all have folded except him. he calls with Q5, he catched Q and 5. fucking unbelievable! im so fucking furious right now. this is one of the main reasons why i feel no matter how skilled you are or tight you are, it all boilsdown to luck in other words gamble.

    just a note; if you 3bet and get called its okay to lean toward fold on later streets if you feel "stuck" because of how many times the 3bet will or should actually win the pot. Definitly should play these hands differently than your average bet and call hands to balance your game strategy out imo.

    • @1chance4life76
      @1chance4life76 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it seems you should shut down more bluffs on later streets durin 3bet hands vs the average hands, simple strategy but i feel it gets over looked a lot atleast i know i sometimes find myself getting out of line just because the pots are bigger and want to bluff at it but imo thats not a winning strategy.

    Hello Evin, I have just finished the storm rebuy 2€ 40th, and I would like to know how to play ultraaggresive donk/assholes... I haven´t been able to make a move in all the time I have been in my last table, because everybody was calling me no matter what I did ( 3bet+cbet) with value hands (also with one bluf), pref raise + two barrels 60% pot, and I havent been able to conect a winning hand, so either I folded and lost the pot, or made two bets, with AKs ip, without connecting and got fucked by a pair of fours.... I was (at first) cheap leader, my vpip was 19% and mayority of the othe players had like 35 to 50!!! They were reraising me, go allin on me, and generally playing any shit, like it was the nuts... Didn´t know if what to do....!!!??? I know it would be very difficult for you to review my hand history, I don´t have money for coaching either, but, by talking with to the guys of team gripsed I realized how lost I am..... And it would be awesome if you watch me and tell me how and where should I improve... Well, back to taking notes of the video and memorizing it...
    Thank you

      @fandoishere 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      IÑIGO Moraleda Try just to limp pre flop or post flop. Example your AQ, suited. Because maybe they have 7-9 only and they raise 3 bet pre flop. If you see you have good advantage at the turn, don't be afraid to put half or your entire stack. ..if you can't lose you may never win.

    Use min raises when a short stacker is still to act if in position or if a short stacker is in the blinds.
    Trap with your big hands because, in general these guys like to get it in once they've entered a hand.
    Depending on the stats, you can usually shove over steals very wide. DON'T CALL OFF LIGHT.
    3 Bet/Fold some hands you might normally flat in position.

Since Summer 2013 I live in Vegas now and my first time running into casinos to "show off" (I mean it lightly) was a disaster. I played the way I always played, and bad money management lead to my bankroll looking more like a banksock. Since I started watching your vidz soon after, I learned how to 1.) increase my profits with less risk, and 2.) cashing out (I dont keep playing longer than I have to) Keep it real man. Thanks.

    LAG works with small ball, to play like the pros you have to be aware of the web you and others try to spin

    • @SoFloAntonio
      @SoFloAntonio 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be pro you need to change your style throughout the day. Depending on how players are feeling you out. If you are dominating and players keep folding like idiots you don’t change, but when they catch onto where you have weaknesses then you change. Though in a table of pros, they’ll always find weakness if you keep the same style.

    As a LAG player, none of this shit is going to work. NONE OF IT. If you manage to become a LAG player, then you have a ton of experience and you can read your opponent like a book. A LAG player know exactly where is at in the hand and a LAG player will know how to make the necessary adjustments to defeat a 2nd rate player. The best play against a LAG player is to switch tables.

They have the vpip and raising % and aggression factors amped up to the extreme sometimes but then when I jam lighter they've got the As (plo) or the nuts or they just plain hit or dodge my outs! He says "well you can't win a lot of money off of them" might be giving them too much credit. Just the fact that they are barreling all the time very light means that when you have TPTK you often will take quite a bit from them. If you think about it logically they can't be so aggressive and not lose some very big pots.

      My mouth was kinda dry from recording 2 hours of lessons in one day (it was also my first time ever making TH-cam content) sorry about that!

    Yoo gripsed, I LOVE this! I've been told by the strongest player at my live home game a few years ago that I play a LAG style. I'm not that great a player (yet) but this is such great insight and wow you really really know your stuff. I am really enjoying the Get Me Stackin course but I still have a heck of a lot to go.
    I really appreciate all the content.
