5:13 as if any new driver on this road can see the speed limit sign; or any other sign for that matter. The one on the left is almost one with the hedgerow and is covered in dirt and moss. The one of the right, although cleaner, is obscured by foliage. The rest of the road signs are tucked away in little pockets of greenery. It might be because it's a video, but the only potential fault here lies with the local or county council. 😂 10:25 Of course he's hitting the right speed limit, the signs are crystal clear on the return journey.
Yeah, I thought it was a bit nit-picking at this one. Given the pot hole on the inside too, a slightly wider berth was not an issue and was dealt with brilliantly by Lewis with good use of speed management.
The weird thing about driving is that it actually isn’t hard! I passed my test with zero minors before Christmas and all I would say is try and drive ‘defensively’, ie when going past parked cars always give way if in doubt (clearly not if it’s safe to go) and also focus on hitting speed limits, and check EVERYWHERE. Blind spot checks are so easy to do, and easy to forget, but if the instructor can you see you literally breaking your neck to look out your blind spot then you won’t have any trouble. Good luck everyone
I keep watching Taz's lessions, your instructions are so clear. Thank you for these lessions. But how on earth people book tests these days there are no bookings available at all. I checked every day till.next year January end.
I only had 18 hours of driving lessons, got full marks on my theory and passed my driving test first try with only 5 faults, only took me from march to July this year (2023) to do all of it.
I am guessing this is one of the many fortunate kids who had lessons with guardians/ siblings/ support in addition to professional lessons. I never had and will never have that. 27 in a week. Had well over 70 lessons and still not a license holder nor vehicle owner. Anyway, happy to see others succeeding because my time will come too! One of my many other questions is how on earth do people actually afford lessons and then the actual vehicle ?
they dont. most people have their license and then buy a 5th hand car for around £1,500 which breaks down every 3 miles until they save up enough to buy a proper car 😂
its not all about being fortunate and having money to afford 'professional' lessons. I only had 12 hours of driving before first time pass. It depends a lot on your own ability of how well you can learn a skill that requires multitasking aka controlling a vehicle while paying attention to signs and other traffic and assessing risks around you while also maintaining stress and anxiety levels to a minimum. On the other hand, parents who are decently off gift their kids a car as a congratulations for finishing high school with decent grades, getting into university and passing drivers license. It allows kids to live at home while having a means of transport to get to university and back. It can be generally cheaper than a child moving to a city and having to work while studying just to pay for the high rent and food. Makes it very hard to save up for anything. Now that's very fortunate to be able to live that way. I am not talking about rich people either. All it takes is to be middle class but simply have both parents and stability in the family. But like someone said, most people who pass cannot afford a car for a very long time or they just get something cheap and garbage that gets you from point A to point B.
I had to get a loan to afford my car. Before I got my license and could legally have the documents in my name, I got my parents to purchase it on my behalf and I paid them the initial insurance premium + $500/month (AUD) for the car. It was switched to my name after I got my license. It is not fun needing to pay for rent, utilities and other stuff on my own while paying for the car but I've been making it work. AJ's comment is right though: my repayment is sizeable because I splurged on a good quality car so I felt safe while driving. I pay a lot for the car itself but I know it'll be quality and I won't be paying out the arse on repairs and new parts. People usually do just buy a cheaper/lower quality car upfront: one of my good mates has a Toyota Corolla he paid 1k for that's as old as us (we're 20). Also I want to add, don't beat yourself up over 70 hours and not being perfect: you realistically won't be. In Melbourne, we need a minimum of 120 practice hours logged in the logbook, including 20 night hours, all in different traffic and weather conditions before we even qualify to sit the drive test. Most people have WAY over 120 before even booking the test: my partner had 300+ before considering sitting his test. I got my license and still needed to perfect my driving because you don't become a perfect driver overnight. Even though I was told I'm legally fit for the roads, I still kept practicing and treating things like I was a learner. Driving is a skill you build over a long period of time, and 70 hours is nothing in the grand scheme of practice it takes to achieve it. You're tracking well.
Hi, nice to see success. I've been driving for years and came in this channel when I was off work sick a year or so ago. It has helped me look at my driving skills and improve then, as I drive every day. Thank you. By the way, a lot of times people get nervous when someone different is in the car with them. A different instructor occasionally could help nerves. I sometimes feel pressure when I have someone in the car with me, as I mainly drive in my own, so give some empathy for these learners, remember no one is so good they never had to learn.
Thank you Sir for all your videos, that’s has help me to pass today with 4 minors n I had also bought your ultimate driving course which is very useful
Loving this channel content! I’m from Singapore and just gotten my license. It’s interesting to know other country road/lane discipline or rule. Wish I could visit UK in the near future while rent a car to drive around 😆
After 5 fails I finally got my license! It's pretty easy for the evaluator to fail you for simple mistakes so keep your head up if it happens. Failure doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad driver. Keep practicing and go at it again. You're bound to get someone who believes in you. But for me I took a step further by contacting a private license and professional dmv agent that helped me to write a provisional letter to bypass the test drive and i was given a provisional driver's license which will last for 12 months. I got a license now and it will serve for 1 year then I renew again. My little advice. * If you think are too nervous for the test drive then you can easily switch to a provisional driver's license which you won't need to test drive.
I'm gonna be 27 and still don't have my license because my family always keeps me inside the house. Luckily I applied for jobs to find my way out of this cage. They only taught me to drive i neighborhoods and shame me for not getting a license like my younger cousin who's mom is less strict. I'm tired of it and am tired of my life being drained, I want to take action for my own life and am doing it slowly but believe soon I can at least get my license if I keep it up with studying and practicing but I don’t think I can cos I got a lotta work to do
It’s been a very horrific story for me😢 I don’t know why I don’t have luck whenever it comes to getting my test it’s either I’m with a bad supervisor or I’m just the one with the problem, I have failed my test thrice now and I’m fed up. How can I hire a test drive professional

@@aaronbrooks745 That’s a great way but if you don’t mind because I’m not sure I can find one where I am. CAN YOU PLEASE RECOMMEND ME TO YOUR TEST DRIVE PROFESSIONAL?
Nice test. I feel like the minor fault for taking the left turn at the traffic lights was a bit harsh, and also his general driving position doesn't seem too bad but he needs to be in better control of the vehicle when adjusting controls etc so he's not going onto opposite side of the road but he's not used to the car also. I actually received a minor in my first test because the driver thought I was too close to the kerb however I never hit it until the last turn into the narrow test centre road where I went over the kerb as I came in too quick with not enough braking and steering, and failed after 4 minor faults or something. passed second time with two or three, even including stalling.
I followed these instructions and I failed the test. I drove on the left side of the road just like this video but they don’t like that in America for some reason.
I talked in mine too! It helps the examiner to know when you're actually doing stuff right: a lot of subtle or internal things like side mirror checks, which people usually just flick their eyes for, or observing potential hazards are things I was worried they wouldn't notice me doing so I narrated everything I was doing and thought out loud. My examiner also loved it because it made it so much easier for him to note stuff and also give me feedback after my result. I still find myself doing it now even when driving on my own HAHA. It just really helps focus you on the road and make sure you don't miss anything.
WAIT! Do traffic lights in the UK when they are red going to green, they go to orange!? That is so nice! In the US it just goes straight from red to green!
UK to US driver here. I didn’t know they made 3 cylinder Elantras (I think they’re called i30’s in the UK)! My 4 cylinder gets great mileage as it is, but those few extra miles per gallon would be nice…even though the corn-filled swill that passes for petrol here is dirt cheap compared to UK prices. Sincerely, a car person who clearly needs to get out more.
We have bad drivers here in the US because its so easy to obtain a license, I guarantee 90% of drivers here cannot pass this test let alone drive standard to begin with
I consistently watched your videos for days up until my driving test and I passed!!🎉 I also had a examiner that was being assessed by his manager who was sat in the back of the car during my test so pressure was on!
I would love to have a Go. just to have a report on my driving. and see what gets said. especially when I drift park. Leant that 75 years ago. would be a bit of fun. LOL.
wow this is madness in Brazil, at least at my driving test, i only needed to take off from a diagonal park, then we go to a reverse paralel parking, and every state has its own rules for this parking. after we take the car from the parking space, we go for the street, some examiners put you on longer paths and others on smallers, mine put me on the smaller, and jt was easy for me. Then we go back into the DETRAN, that is our departament of transit, and park again on a diagonal parking. My state is one of the easiest, but some needs hand signals, clutch stopping and crazy things like that😅
Could anyone enlighten why it is a fault at 5:15? Having your vehicle at 50km/h prior to exiting the roundabout seems a little fast and can be dangerous.
I remember one of the first times I ever drove, I approached a cross way (within an empty parking lot) and always stopped way too early to check my surroundings. I have a good feeling abt the future of my driving skills 😂
@@7rodo basically where I live it’s stupid and you have to look out the rear window like 70% of the time and use your right side view mirror only to park. The way you do it in the UK makes more sense

young man should be proud of himself ☺️ he says he always drives like he’s taking a test and it shows.
I passed my test 4 and a half years ago but i only just got my first car ( didnt need one for work / uni ) i took some refresher lessons with my old instructor but like to watch these videos to help me. Its helped me gain a bit more confidence and see if i am doing anything wrong. Lad did great job!
Thanks a lot mate. I passed my test today first time with 3 minors ... your videos really did help me . I was nervous and anxious , somehow did it .Practice made me perfect as usual. Many thanks for your videos ... All the best to all new drivers ...
damn is it really that easy that people pass it first time? congrats man
@@theonlybigsmoke Practice ..
I passed today with 2 minor faults which I made at the very last 1 minute of my test at Sutton Coldfield Birmingham. I failed 1st test with reverse parallel parking. Thank you for your educational videos. Cheers!!
He did so so well! Best of luck to ya Lewis 🙏🏽
I love Pinns face when he said he had 6/7 lessons back in May😂😂
Other than my driving lessons, I also watch your TH-cam mock tests which are really useful. I only had lessons for half a year, passed the test on my first attempt, although 8 minors, the centre had pass rate of less than 40% and took place in busy hours.
These types of videos prepare me for the driving test I'm going to take in a couple of months. Thanks! :D
Don't watch these videos if you're from the US. This guy's got me driving on the wrong side of the road
They're for uk

I love watching these videos. I already have my license for four years, but still great content.
I started watching before i got my automatic license.. and now after 2 years having automatic license i have passed my manual test and still watching..
that was a good drive. Today ive passed my driving test, 3d time, Im so happy im free. Thanks DGN for the online driving course it helped.
Iv been past for many years and Iv watched some of your topics and information, I have learned things from you. Great stuff.
Passed my test today, thank you for the uploads, have always watched most of your videos, good luck to everyone taking their test soon.
10:25 Of course he's hitting the right speed limit, the signs are crystal clear on the return journey.
9:00 this is what I hate about driving tests always looking for a reason to give criticism. Perfectly fine nothing wrong with how he drive here
Yeah, I thought it was a bit nit-picking at this one. Given the pot hole on the inside too, a slightly wider berth was not an issue and was dealt with brilliantly by Lewis with good use of speed management.
5:22 BRUH the signs are like damaged and hidden by bushes tbh its not entirely his fault there
The weird thing about driving is that it actually isn’t hard!
I like the balance of good and bad drivers you get to learn from both
I keep watching Taz's lessions, your instructions are so clear. Thank you for these lessions. But how on earth people book tests these days there are no bookings available at all. I checked every day till.next year January end.
wakeup at 5:50am on monday morning - tests r available at 6am every week thats how ppl get em. Then change the test date to earlier in the year
@@izaan3953 Thank you so much. Will try
Thank you for watching the channel
Big up Lewis! This will help me and other learner drivers.
I only had 18 hours of driving lessons, got full marks on my theory and passed my driving test first try with only 5 faults, only took me from march to July this year (2023) to do all of it.
Great channel, I passed with no minors, Thankyou!
One of the best drivers I've seen on this Channel
I am guessing this is one of the many fortunate kids who had lessons with guardians/ siblings/ support in addition to professional lessons. I never had and will never have that. 27 in a week. Had well over 70 lessons and still not a license holder nor vehicle owner. Anyway, happy to see others succeeding because my time will come too!
One of my many other questions is how on earth do people actually afford lessons and then the actual vehicle ?
they dont. most people have their license and then buy a 5th hand car for around £1,500 which breaks down every 3 miles until they save up enough to buy a proper car 😂
Do u learn manual or automatic
its not all about being fortunate and having money to afford 'professional' lessons.
Sometimes it’s worth looking into learner’s insurance as well
I had to get a loan to afford my car.
This is great but when he goes out with mates (all of whom will have seen this), this poor lad's going to be the designated driver forever.
@9:03 He took a wider turn due to the hole on the road, good observation actually
I was gonna say, im glad someone called it out
idk why this was satisfying to watch
Even he is wearing a short in a rainy day but he is actually a good driver 😂
You videos helped me pass my test 3 minor thank you keep up the good work ❤
9:00 Did he not just steer ever so slightly wider to avoid the drain/pothole? I don't think that should be counted as a fault
I feel like this channel is so so helpfull to people learning to drive.. Thank you for sharingthis❤
5:31 just look at those signs, one barely readable in the splitsecond he had to read at that speed, and the other covered by leaves. Not his fault
I passed my test today first time with 5 minors!!! Thankyou DGN for all the tips 🎉
@@johnhopper1961 Oh that’s a very sad story , sounds as if we both be in the same shoes I been unlucky twice and I’m actually fed up tbh 😵how can I hire a test drive professional please?
What you should do is to find a test drive professional in your prospective environment
@@aaronbrooks745 That’s a great way but if you don’t mind because I’m not sure I can find one where I am. CAN YOU PLEASE RECOMMEND ME TO YOUR TEST DRIVE PROFESSIONAL?
Lewis did a great job!
8:57 slightly wide? u mad, its perfect
I passed my test today and watching these videos on here definitely helped me out 💯
Finally able to watch freely , knowing I passed my test today .
thank you for every detail you mentioned in your videos...that made me pass....
Well done on passing your test
Wish I found it this easy but I’m still learning!
I followed these instructions and I failed the test. I drove on the left side of the road just like this video but they don’t like that in America for some reason.
😂😂
As my driving instructor said you never gonna get better until you drive every single day
I did "advanced police driving" by accident, I talked my through the decision making of everything. He was stunned and said he loved it.
Passed my test this morning 2nd try with 3 minors, so relieved 🥳🥳
My name is Yasin
Well done on passing your test
We have bad drivers here in the US because its so easy to obtain a license, I guarantee 90% of drivers here cannot pass this test let alone drive standard to begin with
Thank you so much for your videos. I have recently passed my driving test. 🙏🏾 God bless you
Another great video - what a nice lad - and good driving
I consistently watched your videos for days up until my driving test and I passed!!🎉
I also had a examiner that was being assessed by his manager who was sat in the back of the car during my test so pressure was on!
Ima new driver wanting his liscense. New drivers gotta love ‘em 😂
I would love to have a Go. just to have a report on my driving. and see what gets said. especially when I drift park. Leant that 75 years ago. would be a bit of fun. LOL.
5:20 can you blame him? Look at the state of that sign, it blends in with the enviornment
wow this is madness
in Brazil, at least at my driving test, i only needed to take off from a diagonal park, then we go to a reverse paralel parking, and every state has its own rules for this parking. after we take the car from the parking space, we go for the street, some examiners put you on longer paths and others on smallers, mine put me on the smaller, and jt was easy for me. Then we go back into the DETRAN, that is our departament of transit, and park again on a diagonal parking.
My state is one of the easiest, but some needs hand signals, clutch stopping and crazy things like that😅
at 5:23 when u said Lewis drove too slow, wasnt that exactly at the exit of the round about?
In denmark you should look for any blind angles you look over shoulder after just going a bit to the left og right
Passed first time few weeks ago 2 2hours lesson n test easy just relax👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Could anyone enlighten why it is a fault at 5:15? Having your vehicle at 50km/h prior to exiting the roundabout seems a little fast and can be dangerous.
I remember one of the first times I ever drove, I approached a cross way (within an empty parking lot) and always stopped way too early to check my surroundings. I have a good feeling abt the future of my driving skills 😂
Seeing the difference between UK and Canada parallel parking observations is so interesting to me lol. Passed my test two days ago 🎉
Well done on passing your test
@@DGNDriving thank you! I appreciate that so much 😊
what are the differences
@@7rodo basically where I live it’s stupid and you have to look out the rear window like 70% of the time and use your right side view mirror only to park. The way you do it in the UK makes more sense
man that car at 8:10 what i'd give for cars to behave like that when i was learning. Everyone was always in such a hurry to get past and drive right up to me to force me to stop the manover.
