Chris Isaak's first hit was a song called "Lie to Me". Which was released in 1987. But yes, this song "Wicked Games" is the song that truly launched his career.
Heard the original/studio version so many times that every other version (even this one) feels slightly off. The official video certainly didnt hurt either.
It has always bothered me that Chris never really got the attention he deserved for his amazing vocals. In conversations about great singers, he is never mentioned. When I do mention him, people look at me like I'm crazy...
Because he never went main stream digital crap. And he was in a genre all by himself. If he had the attention on the radio he deserved he would have had some serious successes in concerts!

@@jeffgoodberry6364 apparently Chris was a big fan of Roy, they met and were good friends; I remember seeing an interview where Chris told a hilarious story about Roy selling a car and waiting til afternoon so the prospective new owner wouldn't notice the dents in the bodywork with the shadows at just the right angle to hide them XD The influence Roy had on Chris' vocals is very apparent
This is one of Chris Isaak's best songs -- maybe THE best one. Beside the lyrics, which are very good, the MUSIC itself is just beautiful, and his voice is beautiful.
Chris has got the smoothest voice, the best hair and the most amazing stage outfits! I love his eponymous album with Heart Full of Soul and Blue Hotel. I caught his show way back in the late 80’s at a small nightclub in San Francisco. And then a friend ran across him at a local record shop and asked for his autograph which he happily did for her along with a quick caricature of his own face. He’s a cool guy.
In the early 90s, every woman alive was into this song - and if you wanted to get with one of them, you were into this song, too. Just saying a lot of good humans owe their existence to this music.
Chris Isaak wrote and recorded this song first, back in the late '80's. Great video with him and Helena Christensen on the beach, check it out!! 🔥🔥🎸🎙️🎵🎶🎶..........
For sure Baby did a bad, bad thing! Saw him at a small venue in San Rafael, CA before he got bog. Great show. The video of this song is sizzling hot! 💥
I have 4 of his CDs autographed by him. I've gone to see him several times here in WA. He is a really, really fun entertainer. One thing I really appreciate about Chris Isaak is that he stays after to meet and greet and sign autographs. He appreciates his fans, and his fans appreciate him. Really nice person, IMO.
“Strange what desire will make foolish people do” - one of my favorite song lyrics ever. (Though that’s the studio version; in this performance he changes it to “lovers” - still very true. 😊)
I seen Chris in Concert in Clinton Ohio in July 2022 if you haven’t seen him you should. He tours every where . I follow him on Facebook and he gives notifications on where he’s playing. He’s 66 now and still sounds soooo good and looks good too ☺️
I saw him perform this in concert back in 1996. He’s amazing. He’s also really nice and stayed after the concert until everyone who wanted an autograph got one. He signed my shirt I bought and talked to me and shook my hand. A true gentleman and humble guy.
I’ve seen Chris in concert many times and he never disappoints. At one venue, my parents and I got to hang out with Chris and the band after the concert. They were all very nice people. I recommend you review any of his songs. Great job! Love to you and your family from Duck country!

Wicked Game is one for the ages. I remember this song when it first came out, and the way it fills a room on a good sound system was just game changing.
This song cuts very deep if you’ve ever been in one of those relationships where you just get strung along and just dropped. I’m sure many others can attest to that as well
I adore Chris Issak. I have seen him in concert 4 times and have had the privilege of meeting him. He is a class act and his band is top notch. See them live if you can. You will not be disappointed.
I was 6 when this song came out,it's one of the 10 songs I don't think I've ever skipped, food for the soul. One of the others,I can thank my parents, Beds are burning by midnight oil. Such a phenomenal song.
Thanks for playing Chris Isaak's music. I've been seeing concerts since 1968 from Black Sabbath's first tour to Elvis's last tour. Chris gave one of the best shows I've ever seen in Greenville SC that I'd rank in my top 10 along with the WHO, Stones, and Leonard Cohen. Chris also had a TV show that's worth catching. His sense of humor is also as great as the mirrored suit he wore at the end of his show.
Somebody's Crying" is another hit of his. In 2001, he had a weekly television show that ran for three years, with his band playing the role of a band trying to become famous. It was hilarious and the music was stellar on every episode.. and I've have been a fan ever since.
“It sounds incredible” because these are REAL artists, REAL musicians, REAL talent!!! Not like the crap that is passed off as “music” these days. And the fact that it’s being done live is proof positive! Thanks 😊
I’m a 42 year old man. Also a seasoned musician. Music has always been emotional for me. Pumps me up, brings me peace and joy. Also brings tears to my eyes at times. This is one of those moments. The music is super tight, the song is haunting in a good way anyways. Then add his vocals with those great harmonies…..To top it off, the lyrics are top notch
Chris wrote the song. It's been used in a few movies and tv shows. notably, the Friends episode when Rachel and Ross finally get together. He had a sitcom called "The Chris Issak Show" on Showtime back in the 90s that was pretty funny. It was described as The American Rock Star Next Door and most of the band was in it too as themselves. Episodes might be on TH-cam. Listen to his other songs. Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing is a great one. so is his cover of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man
That was them rehearsing in a studio. Chris and the band had a series on Showtime for awhile. It was pretty entertaining. The sound on this one was as good as it gets.
I love this so much. This live version is so damned good and shows perfectly what great musicians all these guys are. As for Chris, well he's just amazing in this. Solid Gold.
I was blessed to see that band live and it was an experience. He is the originator of this song, Jamel. Seeing him live is amazing... he played and when the concert was supposed to be over... that band just kept on jamming for us... all kinds of songs they just pulled out of their hats. And we stayed... we were glued to that band like flies on fly paper and it was outdoors... summertimes... and the happy hangover lasted for days.
I saw Chris Isaak live 20 years ago in Minneapolis and it was one of the top 3 concerts I have been to. He is wonderful to see live …I would really recommend it!
Chris Isaak should be one of the biggest names in music, and it's a crime that he isn't. He's the total package. Talented, charismatic, charming. Pure talent, that guy.
The first time I heard Wicked Game was in David Lynch's Wild at Heart. It was a really creepy scene with a car crash but the song just jumped off the screen. When I got home I had to find out who sang that song!

Hey Jamel! I *looove* this song. It's so sensual. And I love the way Chris Isaak sings it (he's so handsome 😍). Beyond this song, he's an amazing (and shamefully underrated) artist with a great group of musicians behind him. The director, David Lynch, included some of Isaak's music (like this song), and Chris Isaak himself, in some of his films. "Don't Make Me Dream About You" is from this same time frame. "Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing", "Blue Hotel", and his debut "Dancin", highly recommended. ☮ out!
I went to Chris Isaak's concert outdoors in Avila Beach, CA. in the Summer of 2003. One of my favorite concerts ever. I am 63 years old now. That was the last concert I have been to since. CHRIS wrote "Wicked Game" ! Check out "Blue Hotel "and his cover of "Only the Lonely"!
Chris Isaak is one of our greatest singer/songwriters. I hope you will react to more from him. He has quite a treasure trove of great songs. Your subscribers have made some very good suggestions. On your own, I think you would enjoy watching the official black & white video of this song...very sensual. And yes, headphones always.
Jamel if you ever get the chance to see him live do it. His shows are always good, band is always very tight. He is a gifted artist. Heart Shaped wheel is an album worth buying, IMHO.

Damn lol
Doesn’t it , though ?
Truer words have never been said
One hundred percent!

The wretched physical pain of heartbreak put into a haunting melody. I felt and relived every note.
Chris Isaak wrote this song and it was originally released in 1989. It was his first hit and the song still gives me goosebumps.
The guitar make me slip into a dream world it sounds that good I never get tired listening to this classic

Same here.

Chris has a SEXY voice ,It is kind of Country and kind of Spanish !! ❤️😍
It's timeless and transporting to another place... a beach.. hips don't lie.. can't help it. That voice.. that guitar. Chris Isaac.. forever

They also did some pitch correction to the recording but still amazing
The warm clean tone of those guitars is like butter - fantastic musicians.

☮ out!
Blue Hotel is such an underrated tune.... ❤️
Haven't listened to Chris Isaak in ages. Thanks Jamel
Glad you finally got around to this one, I guess this is pretty much what they call live studio grade, quality!
Ive lost count of how many times I’ve seen him live. So good!
Jamel if you ever get the chance to see him live do it. His shows are always good, band is always very tight. He is a gifted artist. Heart Shaped wheel is an album worth buying, IMHO.
