It has always bothered me that Chris never really got the attention he deserved for his amazing vocals. In conversations about great singers, he is never mentioned. When I do mention him, people look at me like I'm crazy...

Because he never went main stream digital crap. And he was in a genre all by himself. If he had the attention on the radio he deserved he would have had some serious successes in concerts!

Chris wrote the song. It's been used in a few movies and tv shows. notably, the Friends episode when Rachel and Ross finally get together.
He had a sitcom called "The Chris Issak Show" on Showtime back in the 90s that was pretty funny. It was described as The American Rock Star Next Door and most of the band was in it too as themselves. Episodes might be on TH-cam.
Listen to his other songs. Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing is a great one. so is his cover of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man

I second that 100%. Playing it for a millennial will bring out comments like “Oh, that’s auto tuned” or some other crap. I guess if they’re fed BS then they learn to acquire a taste for BS. They simply can’t accept that music made before the date on their birth certificate is worthy of giving a listen to.

@@DosEquis1 Well, I can reply to your comment in a similar way. Generalization will always cause issues. While I'm somewhere in the middle between Gen Y and Z, being born in '98, I'm by common definition Gen Z and I don't really listen to (nowaday's) mainstream stuff and Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands for example. I also really like Eminem, as a very different example, both also serve a different purpose for me. And I know my sister, who is "proper" Gen Z ('04), also likes some "older" songs (early 2000s and before).
Some 80s stuff or 80s characteristics also seems to come back.
I do get Bill Jones' last phrase though; I know (or knew) people around my age that had or would have this attitude of "wow, that's old, nah". At least I've heard that about movies, but I think music as well. I guess you just need to be a bit more open and not discard it due to being older than yourself - there's probably something nice you can find in every (recent) decade. :)

Beyond this song, he's an amazing (and shamefully underrated) artist with a great group of musicians behind him. Two interesting things about this song...
    1. The lyrics are actually "No, I don't want to fall in love with you". I found this out after learned how to play it for a girlfriend in college (I removed the "don't" when I sang it to her).
    2. James Hetfield from Metallica actually used this song as inspiration to take vocal lessons to get more soul in his singing before The Black Album. This can be observed in the song "The Unforgiven".

Chris writes 90% of the banda lyrica - funny story about this one is some girl called up for some loving and Chris said sure knowing she was nothing but bad knews and had this song written before she got there - so yep, she was trouble but without her we wouldn't have this song - golf clap to her memory. I believe this performance was on the set of the Chris Isaak show - was a fabulous tv show you can't find anymore due to all the copyfright involved.
