Let me start by saying chase is great at all these reviews…….but if you’re serious at all about riding or getting into riding, just remember you get what you pay for. Early in the game you’re gonna make mistakes. You need more than just the entry level stuff. Get yourself something mid to high range in all protective gear. Save the money on the cheaper stuff and go ahead and get the good stuff. You’ll end up buying it down the road anyway. Your physical health and safety is incredibly important in any form of riding. If you’re injured, you’re not riding. It’s that simple. You can go cheap with pants, gloves, and jerseys, but please protect #1 your head, #2 your knees and #3 your feet and ankles.
If any of these boots don’t protect you starting out you are way too reckless and need to slow your roll, these should be protecting against rocks and tree branches and for just overall general protection. Expecting anything more is expecting something at a different price point.
If you want the biggest calf opening of any boot, get a Gaerne SG12. When it comes to entry and mid-level boots, the Tech 5 and Leat 4.5 are good. And as a general rule, any premium boot is going to a larger calf opening than most mid-level boots - Chase

I have the Thor boots. I don’t like the steel toe cap. Is is ok to remove it, or will it cause problems with the shoe ? I’m 9 and just riding on flats. Super beginner on 50cc. Thanks
I’m a beginner too, it just depends on how hard it is to remove the steel plate if it’s fairly easy try it and see if it feels like you compromised shoe structure Also it could still safe for you to keep them in

Haven't gotten around to a new entry level guide yet, but if I was choosing today which entry level boot I would choose, I would probably go with the Fox Comp boots. The Instinct 2.0 is my favorite fitting boot and the Comp uses the same foot mold so I know they will fit the same. If you can, I would pay the extra money and get the Fox Motion. They have a dual hinge that the Motion does not which makes them more supportive and the hinge will help the boots last longer too. - Chase

Interested in the alpinestars. When you say and has a narrow toe box how narrow is it? I don't have wide feet but I don't want to feel like my toes are being crunch together either I haven't worn a riding boot in 30 years
Lucky they upgraded the cop boots. I had a pair from a few years ago, the comp 5 and it was literally the worst boot I’ve ever put on. Buckles and straps were trash and hard to use. Very stiff and hard and the right boot dig into my shin sharply no matter how much adjusting.

Most of these boots fit true to size so you can order your standard shoe size and be good to go. However, we have individual videos on these boots where we go over more of the details like sizing. So if you find one that you like I would recommend checking out the video on that specific boot. There is also a questions and answers tab on our website where you can get a good idea on how sizing was for other customers.
Hay chase? Looking at the tech 3 or fox comp. but don’t know if the fitting between the two are off any and I’m a size 10.5” always bought 11’s and wore thick socks and works for me but I haven’t had a lot of boots in my years can u suggest between the two witch one would be the better choice, I do have knee guards but was thinking of getting the newer stream line of the pull over style to help keep the diameter at the top of the boot from not fitting properly. Much appreciated if u could help me out on this one! Thanks.

Hi, I am currently living in Vietnam but I am getting into enduro/dual-sport so I am looking to have some sent to a relative with similar feet. But out thses boots which are best fkr dual-sport/enduro where you may need to get off or walk. I also have a US13 that is wide.
I would spend an extra 30-40$ and get either the Fox Comp R or the Thor Radial at the price. If you're set on staying below that price, I'd probably get the Alpinestars Tech 3. - Chase
Corona boot does not fit well if you have a wide foot. Just saying it fit like as well as squid and a HD rider getting along would. I'm a size 12 4e. These suckers hurt. Got a size 13. Still no good.

So on that one was way to painful, and the other was making it numb. went with the Fox Racing Comp Boots 2019, but they're out of stock. Much wider than those toe vises. Warning about the tech 3, if you get mud in that hinge they will squeak every time you take a step and it's almost impossible to clean
i had the same issue and my coworker scrubbed them with soap and use the Shop air hose to blow it clean and no squeaking

I had these so hard to ride is way to stiff and the plastic on the inside split after the second ride.
The O’Neil boots are good but don’t last long. The sole of mine fell apart after 5 months

Bonded means it is glued on vs stitched.
