I do not own any of these little clips you are about to see.
I just made a compilation of several TH-cam videos to show you how awesome this bike really is!
These days you can buy a good R1150GS between 4000 - 5500 euros. The Adventure is more expensive though because they are very rare in good condition.
They are reliable and indestructible. They go around 200 kmh/h with great wind protection and stability.
It sits very comfortable. It has torque for days and you can go off road with no problems.
It has great lights, a huge tank so you can drive many kilometers/miles and I can go on and on.
It also happend to be the bike used on 'Long Way Round' by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, I do recomend to watch Long Way Round.
BTW: there are many after market products for this motorcycle.
What you need to remember:
Nowadays they are really AFFORDABLE
It does NOT need much MAINTENANCE
A very COMFORTABLE and easy bike to ride.
So RIDE it and have FUN!

I must agree with you - these are truly the best GS's of the lot! I own a 2004 GS1150 Adventure and it's never missed a beat! Yes it's heavy, yes it's pretty slow, but you know what, for me speed's not everything! My old "Buffalo" is big, ponderous, but super reliable and strong! After 16 years of ownership, I wouldn't consider selling it for anything else!

The 2002 does not have the power brakes. This makes it better

Thanks man. Glad to hear it. I bought mine last year with 31000 miles. I could have bought a newer and more expensive model but I decided not to do so :-)

I totally agree with you. I bought my 1150 GSA 2005 5 years ago and I find that it is the perfect bike for travelling. Another advantage is that it does not have so many electronic gimmicks like all the new bikes. Torque is definetly enough ans since it is not a street bike the horsepower is also enough.
It s made for people who like to ride motorcycles instead of bragging about their bike etc. Keep on riding

I love the bikes with no high tech i can do maintenance myself When you want easy driving buy every year New version of the bmw bikes I have gsa 1150 2003 When i drive it so a lot of Fun to tame the beast and when you stop anywhere every body looks at your bike not the 1200 or the 1250 every body hab it Fantastisch bike greets from belgium

I have a 2002 with 200.000 miles ..and yes it is the a very good bike I will probably never sale it but I will get a 1600 cc bagger and still keep my r 1150 adventure

I have the 2002 adventure gs. Best bike? I think not. It’s decent but has issues. The Hall effect sensor wiring insulation flakes and leaves you stranded. Transmission input splines strip, rear drive failures, starter failures, plastic fuel quick disconnect failures. These are manufacturing defects not found on other bikes. And the bike is not cheap. I like my gs but am not delusional to it’s faults
yeah sure, it needs some love. But when you give it some love then you will get rewarded
@@GSMicrobe it needs way more love than other makes at a higher price. Personally a Suzuki vstrom 650 does everything the gs does at half price with zero issues.
Edit another issue with later 1150 are the abs power brakes. They stop working and nobody wants to or knows how to repair the brakes. $2000 to replace. Totally unacceptable.
@@frankbutaric3565 My gs 1150 adv had issues witt abs, shit scary when you want to stop, but the bike doesn't.
Abs unit is in the scrap yard now. Problem solved 😁
@@robertfazekas4607 you solved the issue by eliminating a safety component of the bike. BMW should stand behind their product and at least maintain the faulty components. At this time repairing the abs almost exceeds the value of bike.
