as someone who has played every kind of ark over the years i can tell you that people have always stopped playing for these reasons. the major thing that has changed is the experience for new players. firstly, snail have thought that they lose nothing by ignoring the more dedicated players, however the greater reputation of ark is very damaged now. secondly, they now have a worse reputation from all the lies and manipulation. it is still possible to enjoy asa or ase, i have been having fun on arkpoc without buying bobs tales or pyro, however i think soon it will be completely impossible to get any good times out of asa, no matter how good you are, with this feeling that they want to ruin your experience to see how much youll pay. snail are laser focussed on ark 2, the only chance asa has is if ark 2 flops and they return to asa however by then it will likely be ruined by microtransactions that the playerbase all throw their money at. if it were snail in the wrong it would be easier to change, however it is the playerbase that enables them to do these things. very big sad, will try to enjoy the last times on ark this summer 🙏
I can completely agree with the problems you pointed out I would even say you were quite soft with most of them. Personally I mostly enjoy watching the videos that where made whit engagement because it was fun making them I had the feeling you where really enjoying soulmask. So I would say try new things as long as you have fun I will enjoy your content
@@ShaneTheShadow oh ok I hope you find something your having fun playing not really sure what I could suggest was just a example I just had the feeling you where enjoying making these videos a lot more than the last few from ark
People just don’t want to spend thousands of hours anymore for it to be wiped in 20 mins by an unemployed no life if they go have a shower. Ark was at its best in the first year in my opinion
Its the same way for rust. I love ark & rust both are great in their own ways. But literally, ill soend hours on the game vibin. Not a worry in the world bout a raid, soon as i hop off someone magically decide to come raid me. Impeccable timing
I second this. It's near impossible to sit down and actually grind mats if you do have a life. When I was jobless I enjoyed playing and watching my acros grow. Now they are long dead by the time I get home with 8 troughs full even adoles apparently eat so much . I couldn't take it anymore and single player doesn't feel legit to me cuz you can easily just start spawning shit and get carried away. Then youll have abunch of fake non legit dinos you can't show off to anyone good job
I personaly left because of the road map that attracted i was hyped by the plan they had to release evry 3 months a map for 2 years. They ruined my enjoyability by adding content who created delays i alrdy have 20k hours on steam on ASE. I kindly hanged my gloves over delays
I am a veteran Ark player, and I totally understand why people get burnt out on it. I played ASE PvE, and PvP for 4000+ Hours. To avoid quitting ark forever I take long breaks from it. It's still a great game, and when more maps come out it will be fun to explore them! I don't play official, because I still want to have a life outside of games like Ark lol. Playing on a private server with slightly boosted rates is the right way to go If you don't wanna spend you're whole life away on ark. I totally get where people are coming from.
@@donatedflea bru why u being toxic? I was just stating I was a veteran. That I have the experience like everyone else. There was no need to respond back like that.
@@donatedflea It's almost like your just responding to start stuff up. 4000+ hrs is enough for me, I did everything I needed to do in ASE getting all the advancements, and doing all bosses alpha solo. I don't need someone else to tell me "is 4k a veteran try 15k plus hrs" I said what I said to agree with people, not to say i am better because I know I am not. I could care less how many hours people have in ark, I enjoyed my time with ASE with the hrs I have.
@@strogglebix404which right minded man wants a wife tho?? Only fools want a wife. 😂. Good luck with your modern wife. You pretty much proved why right minded men dont want a modern wife. Thanks for reminding me again. 😂.
I’m gonna be honest. Ark blossomed in Covid when people had time. This game requires dedication and time to have fun and succeed and people are either burnt out from playing so much or are too busy to play now. Every single player that I know that no longer plays, (and there’s a lot of them) left because of this, and not one of them doesn’t enjoy ASA or thinks the games bad/p2w.
Personally I refused to buy ASA simply because they tried to use discusting methods to squeeze as much money out of the release as possible and don't fix known game breaking bugs for ages and the communication and support from them decreased rapidly wildcard has a parasite and a bad one
@@mariolukas584 everybody engaged enough with ark saw this stuff coming a mile off, the reason people still pay is to try and have some fun. although hopefully large amounts of players stop paying snail to kill the game at some point, would be nice aha i think with ark 2 failing they will have to seriously reconsider everything.
@@alexduke1999 yes they started development of the game in October 2014, and about 7 months later in 2015, it became available to the public for early access, but I'm still impressed you started playing July 2014 10 years ago
I used to enjoy single player for a while. Ever since I grinded with mega tribes on officials and had crazy pvp moments. It kind of ruined single player for me. As it feels there’s nothing to work for or any zones to dominate or Control. I just resorted to Boosted PVP servers
I am an ARKaholic with over 35k hours between 3 accounts. I have never felt burned out or stopped playing mainly because ARK the game is awesome but I keep coming back for the community. My friends that keep me coming back. Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer with an inoperable tumor so I am dyeing so I have not been able to play so I am having ARK withdrawals. I hope to be back playing and streaming this awesome game soon. I love your videos.
@@AstriaTVTruthExposedterrible advice bruh. Keep playing ark dont do shit about his medical condition but only makes it worse. Dude should start to live more healthy. More gym and better diet. Less gaming.
I feel like if they added a way to be pinged on your phone if a structure takes a significant amount of damage or breaks it would help with people staying up to monitor their base (kind of like the email youd get for tripwire alarms back in the day)
If I am remembering correctly there is a mod for asa that connects your tribe log to your discord so you can either get notified or watch your tribe log.
Was in my mid 20's when Ark first came out. Played the game all the way up until aberration. All those years of grinding has led me to now enjoy videos on Ark as opposed to playing 😊
1000% was in a mega tribe PVP then scorched came out then rag. We were Gucci dynasty we were on 743 center 806 center 1017 scorched and I forgot the rag. I was selling actual tames and bps on official for real money miss it man. Had 55 tribe mates 14 on 24/7 the whole sever of 743 merged to make Gucci dynasty.
@@gamingevolvedkg30 point is should never have been a real thing. Fan base would still be crazy and the game would be so fun still but it’s not as fun due to Tek
Hmm… bugs, cheaters (duping, meshing, ddossing servers) all of which WC doesn’t care about. Laughable incompetence in the company’s that make decisions for the game. Lastly, EASILY contains the single most toxic player base online!
I think it might even have league of dickheads best. Nothing more miserable than getting ass fucked just for jumping on a public server. I’m pretty sure the years delay is the devs and their stockholders making every official server littered with impenetrable bases that no amount of time can catch up to, so they can spend their work days trying to drive us to nitrado servers, meanwhile I can’t ever join an unofficial server.
I still think about coming back to ASE but thanks to current meta I never decide to go for it. Since when did we just accept grapple-glitching being a feature? Desmos completely break the balance by being so tanky, having insane player picking radius and being able to pick while diving? Kinda miss the golden pre-genesis days.
No, because you were complaining about Manas before genesis. Oh, you miss ab? No, you were complaining about reapers. Oh, you miss scorched? With what content? Oh, you miss the island? Pre flyer speed nerf? When quetzals could speed soak turrets???
@@Atmatanab had no real issues? Reaper where easy to counter with plant z and comp… with manas they needed the breath range nerfed before gen 1 so the pvp at the time was way better then spam shadowmanes n nets with ligtning wyvs.
@@hollowed588 Range was never the problem given they can now shoot further than ever before while hovering, it was the freeze you people were complaining about. You memory is as short as your tolerance apparently. Manas were perfect on day one and crybabies and pve-ers killed it.
Still remember my first experience playing multiplayer ark. I played for a long time in offline singleplayer when I first got the game before finally dipping my toes into multiplayer. I joined a server, wandered around a bit trying to find a place to build something. First thing I noticed was stone pillars and foundations everywhere. I had to run way into the interior of the island to find somewhere to build. When I finally did find a place to build something, not even an hour later some guy was at my base on a high level rex absolutely tearing my base apart. Eventually I did find a private server with strict rules on building, PVP, and team size limits, and had some fun there. After I had done everything I wanted to do, I simply stopped playing. That was something like 6 years ago I think. These days I just don't want to download a 300GB game. Haven't touched it in years.
A significant number of your issues are caused by playing PVP. You should really give PVE a try. During the video, you built a beautiful base in single player. You could build it on a PVE server without being raided. On the contrary, some survivors will appreciate your building.
@@Galaxy-117 Oh so thats what happened on my server, I was getting messages everyday asking to roll my server back because bases dissapeared now I know why.
1:22 TIME!! Honestly, you can invest 8-10 hours in one day and feel like you really got no where. Raising babies even on boosted servers. Running caves over and over and over just to not feel fulfilled with the hours you spent to get to the underwater crates, drops, etc. the cluster just felt toxic. Its sad. At one point, I felt so free in Ark.
@@WillyWylde1919 on official every tribe gets inside at least once a week and if your asking what an inside is. It's where your tribe mate waits for everyone to log off then blows everything up steals it and leaves the tribe.
@@WillyWylde1919 its when you add a random to your tribe and they log-on after you leave and turn off all your defenses so their friends can raid you. Or they just take a lot if not all of your stuff and leave.
It’s not only players.. I host a dedicated PvP server and recently shut it down because players were losing their characters. So all I was doing was recovering characters. Wildcard needs to fix this.
The player base had gotten older, and no longer have the hours to dump into the game. The new “game” for teenagers that have the hours is put into games like Fortnite
It's why I only play in private servers. Humans are awful to each other. My dad used to love playing Diablo II, but stopped playing online because of what they called Player Killers. Nothing new.
Eh not at all the same story with games like Rust for example where they have a very active dev team for banning cheaters, no severe issues with maps like meshing and overpowered base locations, and best of all the pvp is balanced
Cuz grown people with jobs don’t got time no more only 16 olds play now it’s they turn,I had a lot of fun when it came out as an alpha on Xbox one 😔 I’m no longer a kid tho I don’t got time like that no more

The game is so buggy! That is why players who don't mind the huge learning curve give up on the game. An example; I just tamed a Manta and within less than 2 minutes the game bugged out and killed it for no reason I could see. What kind of crap is that? That is just one example. Dang, that is a lot of windows.
This is exactly the case for me, except I lost tames I spent time working with because of some weird water glitch. Watching your animals die in front of your eyes with full health and full inventory of food is inexcusable. Then their stash disappears. In addition to the glitches killing hours of work, there are the poorly functioning mods, or the mods work fine and the game gets an update and your death recovery mod stops without notice.
The first wyvern I ever raised myself fully, I was flying through scar like first day after it finished growing near a lava waterfall at the end my game lagged and the wyvern went through the waterfall, not killing it on log reports but killing me. So I searched for like 2 hours for it. Never found it. Was extremely disappointed.
@@jimmyjones2901 I for one hate the avatar kill decision due to a disconnect. Who do you blame for the disconnect? Was it your internet service provider, or the game servers? All I can tell is the game stopped functioning after I had played nearly 5 minutes more and when I get back into the game, my avatar is dead and too often all he had is gone, or I cannot find the bag it was put into since there is no body.
If your avatar is killed and you hare having trouble finding the bag with no body being seen, zoom in to the marker showing the spot of death. You may need to zoom the view in as far as it will go to find the bag. There is a time limit before even the bag disappears, so that is still an issue that needs a fix.
The games balance is also shot. People have the metas down and late game objectives are now first session mandates... like heavies and tek turrets. Don't even know why they bothered keeping the level system if they were planning to keep note run experience points
this is a massively underrated issue, the whole necessity of basically speedrunning the game if you want to compete without just leeching off established players is really ass. Especially since the current playerbase for ASA is way smaller, so access to those established players is harder now than before.
I used to play on a gentlemans pvp server. It was great, you had open world pvp no extended griefing no raiding unless both parties agreed. More about the fun and bragging rights then ruining peoples work. Also took Rag alpha on Bloody Ark one season then they canned offline protection and that was the end of the fun there. People with jobs and families can't do extended 16 hours daily raids over the course of two weeks just to take out one team all the while grinding and farming 18-22 hours a day to make sure your team is set up. Good admins who watch for cheating is key also...Those days are sadly gone :(
The issue for me as a solo casual player were the official server alpha tribes, They will literally try to extort you for real money to let you play on the map (This is most servers). I dont understand how they dont have admins watching for this kind of behavior as i believe it should be a bannable offense. They need to lower the amount of completely empty servers and start moderating the servers they can.
Have any multiplayer survival games found the secret sauce to the game/life balance while still allowing for offline raiding and competitiveness? Genuinely curious. It seems like an unsolvable problem.
There is ways. Live on a quetz they last months sometimes. Don't get so caught up on what you don't have in the game. Or play in a big tribe that's not demanding. There are many out there that don't expect much grinding from ya. That's for official. You could always play unofficial as well.
Offline raiding and game/life balance can't be used in the same sentence. Sure, some servers have implemented ORP to where it's like 3x turret damage and structure resistance but that doesn't stop exploits like tunneling or body blocking. The issue is the PvP survival community doesn't really understand what "competitive" is. Competition typically means fighting against people of almost equal caliber/challenge, but by their very nature most Survival games, to those that have the time and numbers go the spoils. Games that implement PvP zones are the closest you get to fair but competitive. Where the best resources/items are located. A game that's shutting down soon called Survivors of Mars actually almost did it right. Open world base building, PvE, and a shifting PvP zone you needed to go to to actually progress. Space Engineers and Eve Online ironically have a sense of balance too, given their scale and scope. Ultimately, you're likely right that it's an unsolvable problem. It's wanting your ice, hot. Can't keep it the way it is for long without fundamentally changing its form and function. (Some science nerd is gonna bring up the rapid induction of heat to discredit that analogy).
They stopped because they were lied to. Ark 2 is coming soon and then we get a reworked Ark 1 ruled by microtransactions. This is how you destroy the best survival game ever made
Guys pls come back, i wanted to play ark for so long years ago, but i cant because i have low end device. Now that i have gotten a device capable of playing ark, now everyone quits. I love this game, i know you all love it too. See you guys in ark 2 if u dont wanna play ark anymore😢
Due to the game being pay to win I won’t touch multiplayer again but singleplayer with a ton of mods has been so fun. I set harvest rates to 3x but 10x for dinos so I’m more inclined to tame gatherers while xp is at 1x. Building my base in a very hostile location was also a way to make it more challenging since the game can be a bit too easy at times. It’s been a ton of fun but sadly singleplayer is probably the only way I’m gonna have fun on the game. Still recommend it to anyone burnt out or who hasn’t tried it
My reasons why I left ASA -They copy paste the game with better graphics but worse support -Game is extremely buggy and unfinished -You need a NASA PC to run it and still runs like crap -Messing with PvP caves favorite spots gone -PC cheating is very active -Very poor dev communication -I don’t mind the season pass they have to make money somehow but last minute p2w reskin broken dino was a slap to the face. -Solo spots/ratholes gone, no being able to spawn in bed -The Center feels was generated by AI, Beautiful looking map yes but looking closely you can tell it was rushed, no heart to it -False promises
So only losers are on government assistance and not any legitimate reason? Good job generalizing everyone even with actual disabilities. Disabilities that in turn, may inhibit their ability to have a life. A game may be the only happiness they can receive. Glad you have it all figured out.
I work 70+ hours a week as well as several of my tribe mates, you can easily split time zones and only have to put in a couple hours a week and have a 0 offline timer, takes knowing things and learning metal, doesn't take full on dedication just the ability to think ahead.
Me and my friends quit because a rando left their base open nd got off and we just got asa from ase so we tried to transfer but couldnt due to that R3TARDED transfer update from asa
This video spoke volumes… I had to step away for college. I tried to do both but like you said ark official PvP takes sooo much time..especially since you can no longer over cap servers.
When I play ark online, I end up losing all my stuff I worked to acquire. I play Ark on PVE official, I played for 2-3 months last time I played, daily, often more hours than I should invested. I love the game and enjoy my time in Ark greatly, I enjoy trading, breeding, exploring, and making new friends or meeting new players. It's just... Ark became overwhelming to maintain between my base and tames... balancing real life with wife and 3 kids and elderly mother I help. Plus, official servers at that time Ascended were crashing, lagging, and at max population so I was hitting join over and over just to enter a server. Yeah 2-3 months don't seem like much, but I was playing 5-6 hours per day longer on weekend I felt like I had finally hit a point where I was ready to take a step towards the end game... and preparing myself for DLC launches with new lands. Thus, I was truly hurt and sad, but I had to quit because I was letting some things go in real life, it all just became too overwhelming for me to maintain. Some may say why didn't you join a tribe or recruit new players... well I could, and they could have robbed me blind that day. I did invite 2 other people after some serious chats and recruitment efforts but they both quit after 1 week because Ark official is dedication. Now I play single player experience, and it just feels empty, and I feel like Ark is a game meant to be played with other people. I also don't enjoy 25x servers as I feel it's unrewarding, I wish Ark had a different system for players who need to step away.
The main issue I've had with ark for the longest time is that all there was to do was grind or maybe pvp if you find someone before or after grinding. For me I'd like ai tribes and bases to be spawned throughout the map with player designed layouts like Empyrion or Meet Your Maker. It'd give infinite dungeons to try and conquer and get the community more engaged in making content for each other in a straightforward way.
I played ark from the time scorched earth came out in evolved. I played the game religiously for many years. I played official PvP both smalls and regular but mostly smalls. On normal PvP you're basically a worker ant helping some rude incel live their king power fantasy in his mega tribe. Evolved had all the problem of ascended but at least looked better. Smalls is ridiculous too. Every single successful tribe is just 2-4 six man tribes teamed up to keep everyone else down even though there's not supposed to be any teaming. The devs don't care at all and if you do report it you've got to have extensive videos proving in every way their teaming even though they have 2 mega bases right next to each other. The time demand for this game is outrageous and PvP doesn't come down to skill. It's either aim botting and if not botting it's server politics which comes down to who ever the biggest 2-3 tribes like and everyone else is systematically annihilated and then raided every other day to keep you down and the only reason they're built up big is because they don't have lives and team up for everything. Not to mention all the bad skins like Micky mouse or power rangers. Wild card had the opportunity to fix all their past mistakes but instead they doubled down with stupidity and ruined what could've been the redemption of one of the greatest game concepts ever made. And let's not forget the time people donated over a billion dollars for ark just for the owner of the company to spend most of it on an electric car company that was grossly mismanaged and completely flopped. I quit a few months ago and my life has never been better. Relationships are no longer strained. I get actual sleep again because I don't have to stay up all night protecting a base. My stress levels are much lower because I don't have to worry about weeks or months of progress undone because some esp bob found my base and meshed right in, Or the server crashing repeatedly because there's a new duping method out and wildcard is too incompetent to infiltrate a discord server or two. Btw no one talks about the massive black market where people sell max stat dinos, bases, bps, and gear and make thousands apon thousands of dollars due to this ark has ALWAYS been pay to win. Goodbye forever feudal lord dinosaur society simulator! You waisted a lot of my time and you will not be missed! Edit:Typo
I like Ark, but I got burnout from it even though I played offline 100% of the time, it's too much to do and when I used to play I always do a fair boost to a single player experience, nothing broke, but that allow me to compensate the offline gameplay, because otherwise I would spend months to tame a dino, but after some time I always boost everything to 100 to do things faster, because become a chore and the game loses it joy and had been a couple years since I played ARK, because every time that I have the urge to play I get burnout, because it's not a enjoyable experience, I've played over 600 hours and never finished all maps, the game is a chore.
Its verry simple why every1 left: the game is shit one of the biggest mistakes wild card made is to delete old official from ASE .ASA ots simply just shit.
especially when the retextured unfinished game only looks 10 percent less horrid, runs worse, has all the same glitches plus new ones, and still requires you to pay for each dlc over again
I’ve seen soooo so many people, some true Arkers with over 3500 hours, others beach bobs simply give up on this game the new game just isn’t the same, besides the in game bugs, pvp you can lose everything, pve everything is pillar’d 😒 and people really just aren’t interested in searching forever for a good base spot, or risking it all in pvp. “Unrewarding job” hits the nail 👍🏼 to end it on a good note, I really enjoyed ark, the more x2 was nice, and I never ran into any hackers at least 🙏🏼
The big thing that hurt my retention for Ark Ascended was unironically the lack of optimisation. I couldn't get a lot of friends to try it who had otherwise enjoyed Ark Evolved and so it was very difficult to bring a community forward into the 2nd iteration of the game. I'm lucky enough to have an RTX4080 but even someone with an RTX3060 isn't having a good time, nevermind anyone still on a 1080 or 1080ti or something.
I have nearly 7k hrs in Ark. I quit ASA after 2 months. Wildcard absokutely ruined the release. Imagine dropping Ark with 1 map and that map being the island and waiting many months to release other maps. Already L. Then adding cryos back in even tho they said they wouldnt. There is no point in playing, at least until all maps are done. Pvp is still 🗑. Its a shame. Wildcard one of the worst companies on gaming
My biggest issue with the game are the chronic updates. Most of the patches aren't critical. It takes 2-3 hours to patch each time (SSD), and seems to happen randomly many times each month. People have lives. If you get home at 6 and lose 3 hours to patching, you might as well not game that night. This dev team needs to knock that crap off and perform patching once a month.
As someone that's played since ase, I've got a few things to say. I got asa when it first released. My pc crashed constantly. On a 68ooxt. Constantly having severs full. Maps being postponed. Snail games screwing players over. Started playing scorched earth last week. A lot of issues have been solved. Pillars blocking potential bases for no reason are still annoying. The wall you hit after a few months is a problem. Still enjoy the game though
I had over 14k hours on pvp when I hung it up. All of your reasons are valid. My number one gripe with ark is how easy it is to mesh. In one instance I had a gen 2 vent that had 400 giga breeders in it. I personaly handled the breeding and even physically arranging them in the vent perfectly in rows took ages. Just one of many events that should not have happened.
Balance in pvp is what I'm waivering on. How does a person with a new character compete with the people who transfer a character that has everything tek gear unlocked. Heat vision through terrain is B's if you are prim locked.
I think ark should've hade claiming zones where anything that you build with an alliance stays permanent after being destroyed. If someone wiped your base; you can always load it up somewhere else. The only loss would be gear and Dinos. That way nobody wasted hours on beautiful buildings. Also, you can favorite 5 Dinos that after a cool down of a week can be respawned.
Thats why we have single player. We can choose when to play and how long for. Yes I don't have the time for onlune anymore, so you miss out on the community aspect. But in single player I ca put it down and pick it up whenever I want and be in the exact same place where I left off.
I quit in 2017 and was hoping to find some MTS videos to binge. I agree, if you're not a content creator, it's hard to enjoy the game for what it is outside the grind. Being in a megatribe requires you to gather a massive amount of materials within a set timeframe, or you can't be in the tribe. Now, imagine someone who works a 9-5 job.
I have wanted to get into the game for years but how they have designed it puts me off. If they would just come up with a more simple system for the game I would be there. I can't justify spending hours on a game just to get one stupid creature.
Because its a boring game. Its tame, breed, build, beat boss and repeat. Club ark gave me fun for a week but then it got boring. It needs npc, towns, missions given by npc that send you to defeat an enemy and bring back an item. It needs the ability to dodge and climb without picks, and so much more added. But i also agree with everything you said especially not keeping up with pvp because of work. Games shouldnt feel like a job. Its not meant for solo players and nobody wants to deal with a tribe of 50 people that just want you to grind your life away. The offline raiding can make you give up also.
100% it needs more depth with game mechanics, npc tribes that go out and tame, that try and grow to wipe you. Imagine a ai tribe taming, building and doing boss fights to try and raid u constantly not just players.
I have a password protected server for me and my wife. Just the two of us and that’s how it stays. My biggest fear is someone coming in and destroying everything. We used to do split screen and got spooked a few times from others who joined without us noticing. One person joined and made his characters skin jet black and we didn’t notice him until we were like 10km from our base following us in the dark from a distance. Another we came back from gathering resources and seen someone loading up our boat with guns, ammo, and armour trying to take off.
Sunk thousands of hours into ASE, only got 200 odd hours into ASA the constant crashing made me quit official and go to singleplayer, then they removed the save button and my singeplayer quit saving. So quit months ago and haven't played since. Never plan on returning
For me ark stopped being ark with asa the game just feels overwhelming now with all the bright colours and seeing how the center looks made me lose all faith the map is just not the same I'd rather if they just continue ase but from other survivers view point instead of this mess
Honestly Shane I think it’s less the state of the game, and more so the fact that this game is nearly a decade old at this point. ASA is new yes but ultimately it’s still ark. We’ve not only been playing but consuming Ark content online for a long time.
Imo in ASA should be more building options. And some structures need to be more realistic, ie. stone walls should be not completely flat, but about pilar width, as they are made not from paper, but stone. More textures for structures. Rounded structures would be good too. No complains for dinos though
- ASA runs horrible, even on high end systems. wildcard never bothered upgrade ASE (which was running UE 4.5 which from 2015m never bothered upgrade UE 4.x ) - ASE was lazy ported to UE 5.1. Not 5.2, they lied. That why Asa sucks. - ASE runs better thus why many ark players went back to ASE. - Wildcard is very greedy. They said they never go pay to win/MTX. They lied - own by snail games. A very greasy/corrupt company. Who lost billions of $$$$ on EV cars. ( some say that was ARK money that they lost. ).
The sad thing is, its not just ark, all of the games of this 'genre' (massive pvp scenes) are dying as the children who grew up with them just dont have time anymore to dedicate 1000s of hours, and the new generation doesnt play these games nearly as much as we did. Tbh I think if ark wants to succeed they need to focus less on the stupid bob's dlc and make the game less grindy in the pvp scene and make more ways for the little guy to handle the sweats.
I am a builder, i love making fantastic bases in cool locations for everyone to enjoy. I like pve but pillar spam is very limiting. Stop the pillar spam!!!
Another thing i forgot to mention is the server options. you either host your own which you might as well just play single player or fork over the 25$ for a service provider you dont like. so they also alienated thousands of people from playing with friends and others because they are forced to pay 25$ for a server they dont want. like why would i want to pay 25$ to play with one or two friends? to adjust settings to be a human game? i played ase on ps4 xbox series s and pc all combined over 3k hours.
In 2018 i spent 6months in my base, dominating, and then was mesh wiped in literally 20mins. Wild Card sent me a stack of metal, wood and polymer lmao 🙄 This happened many times, but this was one of the worst times. Once someone on Facebook was paid $50 to mek wipe me litteral minutes before the paper mek glitch was fixed 💀
Never played Ascended, played ark survival evolved and that was so bad I vowed to never buy another game from that company, thanks for letting me know they didn't make anything better.
I started on the game bout 6 months after it came out an played it until right before the pandemic had to stopped cold turkey. I got absolutely addicted to it. I mean life was falling apart addicted. And even tried playing games after it and never could find anything that challenges me and was so immersive since. To me it was the absolute best game I have ever played. But I decided my wife was more important and now we have a kid. So glad I quit. My kid is better then any day on ark. But I absolutely do still get cravings to play it and it will irritate me that I had to give it up. I still think about how I could be building new styles of bases with the new updates. That was my favorite thing to do, build huge extravagant bases based on old castles and estates styles. Oh and breeding. Right before the flyer nerf I had a emerald green and blue filter argy pop with 30k plus stamina and I was able to get babies off of it and was honing in my line to start trading and they nerfed it. But still was at 7k plus! I had literally the best stamina in the world and a asshole kid I felt bad for and took into my tribe inside me and killed all of my tames, including the argy and ate the eggs. Never had a tribe mate other then my wife after that. Losing the argy hurt bad. I had something absolutely no one else in ark could of ever had after that nerf. And I was going to make a killing selling them fixed like people sold dragons. 7k was god status after the nerf when stuff pop out low. Miss that game. Island pve server 227 I left that server right after they put it into legacy for shut down status
They need pvp arenas. Raise tames, craft weapons and armour then go into a quick matchmaking pvp. That way pve players grinding stays relevant because they can go and pvp. Pvp players don't get offline wiped. The game has some end game fun. The arenas could have so many different modes too. Player only arenas, team arenas, certain dinos, objective based stuff. Defend an outpost or attack and outpost. Could have drops for winning or just general loot drops for playing.
I think most people forget vanilla servers on most games just aren’t for the majority of people but there are servers that are where there are boosted rates and to be fair even at that point you’ll still get raided offline but I know there are servers that protect against offline raiding but yeah I think people just need to find which server suits them and their friends best which does suck but it gives it more options for its player base
I only play singleplayer. I simply don’t have time. Ark servers require a ridiculous amount of time. I never felt ark is too difficult or something. It’s just with only 30 minutes each day…
Stopped playing ASA because of the single player game not always saving. Love the game, but I'm done with being abused. That bug's been there since release too.
A big problem with the game now is everyone plays just as much if not more than they did in lockdown. And now that you can make a living from streaming / making content casual players that play after work or school can’t compete.
I left because every update caused an error. With that error, I had to un install and reinstall. I would get to play a bit until the next update, and then it was rinse and repeat. I did not buy a game to have to go through that frustration.
I remember when ascended first dropped. I figured perfect opportunity to start on a pvp server nobody has wyverns or manas. I forgot abt those new giant bugs that all the no life’s got day 1 which made it impossible for anyone to do anything. Some creatures simply have no place in this game.
Hefty price tags for DLC I can only use when online was enough to make me leave. I HATE it when this is done. Makes it easy to drop games no matter how much I used to love them. Conan Exiles was the same.
For me the Points which makes the Game boring atm: 1. All Bases are in Caves 2. All about Server cap 3. Always using the same meta Tames 4. This new Cryopod mechanic 5. New joining System 6. Technical issues I miss the good old PvP when 2 Giga lines stand opposite and you wait till the fight starts. But atm All Bases are in Caves, its just about capping a Server, wiping everything outside in 5 min. Cant join for hours cause Server is cap. Cant drop a tame when enemies pushing your forcefield. Carchas can bit into the forcefield. What I want or wish: 1. Increasing Server capacity 2. old Cryopod mechanic 3. a better possibility to join a cap Server 4. And ofc no technical issues (impossible by Wildcard)
I think this solution could fix mine and most people’s problems, coming from rust, and Conan exiles and some other survival games I think ark could benefit from having (some) official pvp servers that make your base immune to damage until a certain time of day called “raid period” and can last for about 6 hrs or so. Ik unofficial server probably can do this but it’s unreliable Idk Ark is the most expansive and interesting survival game iv played but I haven’t touched it in years and for the reason shown in the video. There are a million and one different ways to get raided in this game and a bob on the beach can raid you while you’re offline with enough knowledge and commitment. I get it like “get good” and “skill issue” holds a little weight here but if you don’t have a clan let alone a clan that can maintain one person online at all times then it’s just literally a matter of time till you are wiped. I just don’t have the heart to keep starting over. Edit:Also don’t get me started on cheaters, exploits, and dupe glitches it’s hard to tell if you were raided fairly anymore. Imagine struggling to play the game as it is and trying to play as intended then bam here comes a tribe with unlimited boom at your door, certain cheats are manageable but they need to do a way better job at crushing dupe glitches
I put 14K hours into survival evolved and honestly the game is quite literally unplayable on official for ASA. There is an ocean of cheaters that the developers will never get a hold on, Snail Games threw the IP in the dumpster, the pay to win dinos of ASA combined with people cheating to a degree where they can find your base as a big tribe, or rat holes or hidden bases that you try to make blend into the environment make the game actually unplayable. There is just too many mechanics in the game that can get you raided and you will lose years of progress. Not to mention that people turned "Insiding" into a meta for PVP. You can't pick up random people off the beach to make meaningful connections and make a tribe with because they can just demolish your base and give it to their buddies off server. I have seen and experienced it all. I have fought a pretty good handful of official PVP TH-camrs, including Shane, in PVP, and I can say that there are still good people with good morals who play ARK, but it is in a completely imbalanced state for people defending their hard work. It has needed an overhaul for years, but after 1000's of hours I realize it will not get better, ever. I suggest playing with friends for fun, but the good times have come and gone, enjoy talking about it with your friends, but please, I implore everyone who wants to play or is playing Official ARK, do not play it. It will never get balanced. Save your sanity.
I quit again like 4 days ago lol Only had just started again 2 days before but game reminded me of why I quit everytime.... crashes. Just tamed a lvl 140 Ptera, took it to Redwoods to get an Argy.... game crashes as I build the trap, I logged back and I died... for some reason my bed didnt work, so ran back to base to get 2nd Ptera to try rescue my main Ptera but I need mats for saddle, I go on a fast gathering w the Parasaur.... crash.... Comeback, decide to run to the Para.... crash... Screw Ark. I shouldnt be in that position, I should be safe in my Ptera in the redwoods taming an Argy... but crashes meant I lost Ptera, then lost Para.... I fear laggy moments more than running into a T-rex w clothes and a wooden spike.
I left because of the pillars everywhere on pve and the way wildcard allows chinese players to abuse the game but will punish you for doing the same thing.
There's some really thoughtful stuff here so I'd like to offer a thoughtful consideration I've had as a single player with only multiplayer experience when renting a server for me and my wife to play. I think the game needs a better diary system for your player so that you can create tasks and checklists for those tasks and not end up out there in the middle of danger looking for what it was you intended to do only to realize that for the umpteenth time you forgot a vital ingredient that you needed.
this is where boomers shine. We use stuff that you put next to your computer that keeps all your thoughts at hand... I call it pencil and paper... 🤔 (grin)
@everseeker hahaha. Defeats the point in part. Most players coming in to the game without experience are so overwhelmed by the immersion, that they have no idea that syluch a thing might be needed or helpful. And those are the ones likely to quit because the difficulty hit them before they could even be trained in the idea of tast preparedness
I just came back to it after about 18 months off. Having fun so far. My only complaint is the usual bad optimization. But i play either by myself in single player, or with a small group in a private server that i own. I don't play on official servers with whiney little kids who have all the time in the world and build gates around all of the spawn points. F all of that. And because i don't play multiplayer, i don't get 90% of the problems other people have with the game. Lastly, the game isn't that hard. Once you figure out how the game works, it's relatively easy. I often use mods to make the game more difficult.
for all the hours i put in it, ark never evolved beyond being an uninspiring tech demo on console, the bugs that deleted my entire survival evolved single player save in 2018 still exist to this day, they never fixed the original drops bugging through the mesh, played ascended for about 3 hrs only to find out when i quit out of the game it didnt save my progress and id have to start over from scratch again. nah i think im good, the game has earned to be a dejected corpse in the library already
I left soon as this reskin got revealed and saw i would have to buy it again. After seeing the state of the game on console and seeing these devs make the same "mistakes" over and over again makes me glad i never wasted my time or money on it.
I’m losing interest because of all the damn bugs. Progress loss, Dino’s just having such a shitty command process, constantly being assaulted by some Dino’s. Just feels very buggy
Commend below what you think about all this? Also, what would you guys like to see in the future for content?
as someone who has played every kind of ark over the years i can tell you that people have always stopped playing for these reasons.
the major thing that has changed is the experience for new players. firstly, snail have thought that they lose nothing by ignoring the more dedicated players, however the greater reputation of ark is very damaged now. secondly, they now have a worse reputation from all the lies and manipulation.
it is still possible to enjoy asa or ase, i have been having fun on arkpoc without buying bobs tales or pyro, however i think soon it will be completely impossible to get any good times out of asa, no matter how good you are, with this feeling that they want to ruin your experience to see how much youll pay.
snail are laser focussed on ark 2, the only chance asa has is if ark 2 flops and they return to asa however by then it will likely be ruined by microtransactions that the playerbase all throw their money at. if it were snail in the wrong it would be easier to change, however it is the playerbase that enables them to do these things.
very big sad, will try to enjoy the last times on ark this summer 🙏
I can completely agree with the problems you pointed out I would even say you were quite soft with most of them. I’m gonna be honest. Ark blossomed in Covid when people had time. This game requires dedication and time to have fun and succeed and people are either burnt out from playing so much or are too busy to play now.

The new cryopods change makes most most pvp situations and raiding take way longer it just becomes a chore to go out and do anything
*Throws cryopod dinosaur goes into cryofreeze *
A significant number of your issues are caused by playing PVP. You should really give PVE a try. During the video, you built a beautiful base in single player. You could build it on a PVE server without being raided. On the contrary, some survivors will appreciate your building.
They need content like all content creators they only play the game a couple of times or whatever is trending ... then forget about it 🤷♂️
That sounds boring

Don't trust ANYONE you don't know.
This can be summarised to every PVP Survival game, not only Ark. People should know by now before playing a survival game.
It's why I only play in private servers. Humans are awful to each other.

Good admins who watch for cheating is key also...Those days are sadly gone :(
Ark is one of my absolute favourite games of all time, it’s such a shame to see how neglected and left behind it is.
I really like the old western town playing in the background. It gave me a good game idea or mod for ark. Ty
I have ideas... Lots, in fact. Pray you'll ever see one of my games made.
Palworld is working on that as I type this hey!!

Still recommend it to anyone burnt out or who hasn’t tried it
My reasons why I left ASA
-They copy paste the game with better graphics but worse support
-Game is extremely buggy and unfinished
-You need a NASA PC to run it and still runs like crap
-Messing with PvP caves favorite spots gone
-PC cheating is very active
-Very poor dev communication
-I don’t mind the season pass they have to make money somehow but last minute p2w reskin broken dino was a slap to the face.
-Solo spots/ratholes gone, no being able to spawn in bed
-The Center feels was generated by AI, Beautiful looking map yes but looking closely you can tell it was rushed, no heart to it
-False promises
Real answer is we can’t be on 12-16 hours a day like the losers who live on government assistance and legit have 0 things going on in their life
This and time zone mania.
A number of times some Asian guy and I would trade offline wipes...
So only losers are on government assistance and not any legitimate reason? Good job generalizing everyone even with actual disabilities. Disabilities that in turn, may inhibit their ability to have a life. A game may be the only happiness they can receive.
Glad you have it all figured out.
@ChrisSmith-ew9fp yes. Gratz on wiping our base, while we earn your paycheck
@@ChrisSmith-ew9fp yeah disability or not if you can spend 12-16 hours on a game your a loser
I work 70+ hours a week as well as several of my tribe mates, you can easily split time zones and only have to put in a couple hours a week and have a 0 offline timer, takes knowing things and learning metal, doesn't take full on dedication just the ability to think ahead.
I did a burnout on evolved after 6 months tryharding. I've been playing on ascended for nearly 6 months and im starting to get fed up
Just came back from a good 5 month break...lol
Never seen an ark player quit
Only take long breaks or they die that’s the list
Me and my friends quit because a rando left their base open nd got off and we just got asa from ase so we tried to transfer but couldnt due to that R3TARDED transfer update from asa
@@SauceyJusAJit So you're taking a break.
@@aboomination897 nah ima wait for ark 2 but i quit ase
Quit online. Single payer for me now.
Ark during Covid was special..
It wasn’t you missed the prime
@ShadowWolf2023-yp5zg frr
It'd give infinite dungeons to try and conquer and get the community more engaged in making content for each other in a straightforward way.
and this is why i love offline raid protection servers with slightly boosted rates.
I left ascended to go back to evolved. It does not make sense to me to play a retextured game when I can play the completed prior game
especially when the retextured unfinished game only looks 10 percent less horrid, runs worse, has all the same glitches plus new ones, and still requires you to pay for each dlc over again
Does it still has servers ?
I've always said. If snails going to do Asa the same as ase. Then I'll w8 for a completed bundle on sale like I did with ase.
@@TizbutaScratch yeah that's a very valid approach to it.
“Unrewarding job” hits the nail 👍🏼 to end it on a good note, I really enjoyed ark, the more x2 was nice, and I never ran into any hackers at least 🙏🏼
this is why i only play on private servers with my friends only with set rules
Please let me play with u, i have no friends

@@TreeMan25smh. Dude is here trying to make friends and this is what you have to say... common sense isnt your thing kiddo.
The big thing that hurt my retention for Ark Ascended was unironically the lack of optimisation. I couldn't get a lot of friends to try it who had otherwise enjoyed Ark Evolved and so it was very difficult to bring a community forward into the 2nd iteration of the game. I'm lucky enough to have an RTX4080 but even someone with an RTX3060 isn't having a good time, nevermind anyone still on a 1080 or 1080ti or something.
for sure, even my computer that is decent was having issues xD I found a sweet spot now though.
U can not play the ascendant one on gtx 1650. So sad because I'm a 1650 user...
A lot of modern games suffer from these issues. Too many games expect you to treat it like a second job.
To be fair the it’s impressive that the game can get ppl this way. I’d say that’s good game design
I left when servers were allowed to be locked down by single guilds. Where no one could build or keep their dinos safe.
- ASA runs horrible, even on high end systems. wildcard never bothered upgrade ASE (which was running UE 4.5 which from 2015m never bothered upgrade UE 4.x )
- ASE was lazy ported to UE 5.1. Not 5.2, they lied. That why Asa sucks.
- ASE runs better thus why many ark players went back to ASE.
- Wildcard is very greedy. They said they never go pay to win/MTX. They lied
- own by snail games. A very greasy/corrupt company. Who lost billions of $$$$ on EV cars.
( some say that was ARK money that they lost. ).
I preferred original ARK compared to Ascended. I took about a 6 month break and when I came back the servers were gone, that’s when I left ARK
Still don’t understand why they don’t have raid windows. It’s what made it possible for me to play Conan for a long time.
In 2018 i spent 6months in my base, dominating, and then was mesh wiped in literally 20mins. Wild Card sent me a stack of metal, wood and polymer lmao 🙄
This happened many times, but this was one of the worst times.
Island pve server 227
I left that server right after they put it into legacy for shut down status
Ark was fabulous in the first year or two. I played well past 6,000 hours but could not pull the trigger on Ascended. Enough was enough.
For me the Points which makes the Game boring atm:
1. All Bases are in Caves
2. All about Server cap
3. Always using the same meta Tames
4. This new Cryopod mechanic
5. New joining System
6. Technical issues
I miss the good old PvP when 2 Giga lines stand opposite and you wait till the fight starts. But atm All Bases are in Caves, its just about capping a Server, wiping everything outside in 5 min. Cant join for hours cause Server is cap. Cant drop a tame when enemies pushing your forcefield. Carchas can bit into the forcefield.
What I want or wish:
1. Increasing Server capacity
2. old Cryopod mechanic
3. a better possibility to join a cap Server
I quit again like 4 days ago lol
Only had just started again 2 days before but game reminded me of why I quit everytime....
@@everseeker and let's face it every single game like this has long been in need of loadouts for your character
The falloff off this game is quite sad used to enjoy it so much as a kid playing with my friends
I have a feeling they didn't leave on their own. It might have had something to do with Wildcard shutting down all the servers?
To this day the hardest part about this game is getting anything done between crashes and losing your saved data. But at least they have paid mods!
