Some of these vacuum lines can be replaced without engine out you can only drop the steering rack ,if you want to replace them all ,yes it's an engine/transmission out. I also would recommend before you buy to do a smoke test not expensive to do and it helps you to decide on the purchase price
You are 100% correct - I can attest to this as I own a 2010 Continental GT Supersports (very desireable) and that was one thing the seller tried to hide by wiping the DTC! However, during the test drive the engine light came on, I ran MY computer module (buy the Ross Tech 'Enthusiast' module which limits you to 3 vin numbers but accesses the VAG = Volkswagen Audi Group service repair software and DTC's AND codes stored in 'deep' memory, which is good for every brand under the VAG umbrella, except for Lamborghini. The module costs $199 but is worth its weight in gold). This module is a great tool not only to help you negotiate the price while shopping for your Bentley but absolutely necessary if you DO buy one! Anyway, the test is not necessarily expensive unless they have difficulty actually finding the leak, then the labor charges start to add up...Bentleys from 2008 and on do not require a full engine pull and vacuum leak are much easier to repair. It may not even be a vacuum leak - you can throw a vapor leak (even gross) just from having a bad gas cap seal, incorrect gas cap, gas tank issues, bad fuel filters, etc., some of which may also be a bit costly but again, things which help you negotiate the price of a potential purchase...
Another problem to lookout for is water and damp in the passenger footwell caused by drain blockage under the windscreen scuttle worth checking on any pre 2007 vehicle.
Yep, good call mate. This is probably one of the most common issues from things like leaves building up over time. This can then also cause electrical issues as the water can run into your fuse box.
We got a bentley in now with boost control sensor messages .we changed sensors and still there .we will do a wire trace and smoke rest soon to see what problem is .
Good summary. The Vac pipes will go on all cars eventually, they are just a bit easier to replace on 07 onwards cars. No need to drop the motor on later cars, but some say it's worth dropping it anyway and doing all the other stuff that fails at the same time! (Turbo sensors, starter, alternator seals etc etc)
Rear lights. a long time ago 2015 I bought a second hand Supersports it cost 73k two weeks later the rear light module packed up (sided) had to buy a new unit £1300+ vat. They are now over £2250 + vat they have a ten year life span. So suddenly your 05 10 k Bentley could become a serious money pit. You can buy second hand, but they are normally around £700 and it could pack up at any time.
The Vacuum pipes issue was rectified by Bentley after July 2006. Bentley rectified the issue by replacing the plastic pipes with metal ones. The general rule is if your Bentley was registered after November 2006 it should (technically) be Ok, but to be extra safe, always look to buy a 2007 onwards vehicle. The pipes themselves are only about £285.00 but the labour from a Bentley specialist will set you back about £5K ?!!!!

That is not correct Bentley didn't replace them with metal ones that is what I would do ,but they didn't run them above the transmission anymore
@@ulflei they changed the position and 100% replaced them with metal ones mate. How do I know ?? I’ve had two GT’s that have both had it done.
