But what if someone wanted just a little bit more. Just a tiny bit. And a tiny tiny bit more. After all, (0 -> unusable) includes also the subrange of (0 -> usable). Pot taper can be chosen so only a little bit of the range is wasted.
Yep. Just ordered from Sweetwater. Love my Tumnus Deluxe, so to have another Tumnus for different flavors, plus the Pinnacle and a noise gate in one box, I'm sold.
@@PedalPoopers No one said the Paisley wasn’t. You do you. The Gearbox is simply a bit more versatile imo for a live set. And I don’t play a single metal song.
Gain all the way up, completely quiet.......sold. Ive been shopping for a versatile overdrive and this is one of the 4 pedals i'm looking at seriously. None of the others have the gate, super useful. It wins.
Another great sounding pedal added to your range Mr Wampler, I love the colour finish and artwork on this pedal, a really lovely colour and very eye catching! i’ll definitely be adding the gearbox to my list of pedals to purchase soon. Many thanks you did it again!
The gate in this pedal is amazing. Not to mention, you're getting, arguably, two of Wampler's best drives in one circuit with full control over the order of the effects. I've played several dual drives (EQD Palisades, JHS Sweet Tea & Double Barrel, Analogman KOT, Keeley D&M Drive, etc) and this one seems to have the most usable features without being overly sophisticated. A Klon and a modded Marshall Plexi drive combined with a smooth noise gate, and the ability to change the order of the drives? Take my money...
I got the gearbox and it is a fantastic pedal! Versatile, smart designed, with a great noise gate and 2 wonderful drive options. At the same time i also own the pinnacle deluxe v2 and i love it so much. The low gain settings you can get are awesome plus you can get so much heavy tones with a really cool sag switch, a very powerful 3band eq section, which is really import to understand how it works, a 2 more toogle switches for vintage-modern and gain structure and the ts choice in the channel one. Still my favorite distortion pedal so far!!!
This rascal is INCREDIBLE…I have two of them, one in my big board and on my little board. My little board sound comes mainly from this and a Halo delay with an Andy Wood Suhr Woodshed compressor as a boost pedal.
Space on the pedalboard is so critical on a fly rig .......so I am so happy to see you guys 1) combining pedals in one enclosure; and 2) putting the jacks and power on top. Thanks you!!!
I just got one of the Gearboxes today and that thing is the best overdrive/distortion pedal I've ever used. Kudos to you and Andy as y'all knocked it out of the park!
Anyone else think it’s time for a new SLOstortion? Maybe a Mini version? I know Brian loves his SLO 30, fingers crossed it inspires him to upgrade the original sadly no longer available SLOstortion! The Gearbox sounds great - wondering whether to sell my Tumnus Deluxe and go for this....
Big fan of "order-flipper" switches. I try to build them into anything I make with two gain circuits. They do not HAVE to be used to push anything "over the edge", though. For instance, each side can be relatively clean, and the other side used to nudge whatever is second in the order into clipping. The tone control in the Tumnus side is not as comprehensive as the Pinnacle side, but the order-flipping allows one to use whatever is first OR second as a kind of tone preset. For instance, goose the Tumnus to saturate, set the Pinnacle for minimum gain, and use the Pinnacle's tone controls to produce a midscoop. Now, almost regardless of order, when you hit the Pinnacle footswitch, you get a tone preset for the Tumnus. Within limits, given the Tumnus's single Tone knob, one can do the inverse as well. OR, the external loop can be used to do the same thing.
@@mikeroadblock You're certainly not the first to think it would be a desirable feature, but nah. First, I can't think of many circumstances where I'd feel the need to swap order on the fly. Second, much like doing phase-switching with guitar pickups on the fly, there can be an unwanted change in volume level that will require adjustment. Third, using a footswitch (and as a 4PDT, it's a big one), requires having enough space for an additional place to stomp with some precision that doesn't risk accidentally hitting controls with your foot. I suppose if it was a fully digital pedal that took care of the level matching for you, did not require a 4PDT stompswitch to flip - using a momentary soft-touch placed near the outer edge of the box - then *maybe*. But like I say, order-flipping midsong tends not to be an in-demand thing. I use a 3PDT toggle to do order-flipping. The nice thing about using a toggle is that the orientation of the bat handle can indicate which half is "first", by where it is pointing, without requiring an LED, the way a stompswitch would.
I have this pedal and honestly that gate alone is worth the price of admission. The 2 OD/distortion circuits that can be tailored from 1 into 2 or 2 into one is friggen brilliance in my opinion. Probably my favorite OD pedal I’ve ever owned. There is literally nothing negative about this pedal. The EQ circuit is so wide too. It’s just flat out bad ass all around. I’ll never sell it. Probably never take it off the board either. It just covers everything I play with epic tone all across the spectrum
I've been searching for an OD to stack with my Tumnus Deluxe, my favorite OD by leaps and bounds. Along come Mr Wampler and Andy Wood with this new pedal that satisfies my tonal needs and desires. Incredible call with the gate function. I'm also chuffed to see an Epiphone paired with a Vox for tone comparisons. Thank you, Wampler pedals!
I usually always play clean with a light - mid gain overdrive pedal. Have tried several distortion pedals and really could never get them clean even enough for my taste. This pedal could be the one to get me back into using distortion again. The built in gate is a massive bonus, nice job Brian !!
How smooth this pedal is on all fronts blew me away. Tho, the gate is the star of the show. I’ve never felt more control at higher gain. Plus can throw in some John Mayer with just the Tumnus when needed.
Glad you went through the treble of making this. Sounds so nice and crunchy. I was picking up a few various new pedals lately and noticed Stompler was conspicuous by its absence. This critter is now on the shopping shortlist.
I just picked up a Pinnacle Deluxe V2 on a whim and put the Nobels ODR-1 Mini in front and loved it!!! I really like the way the tone trails on the Pinnacle. I was not aware of this pedal. Now I want to check it out. Nice job on the Terraform too Brian - Thank you!
Love the noise gate idea, if you stack the channels 1 into 2 it appears that you can really tame the hum and do crazy stuff like diming the level on the first stage and dialing it back on the second. The loop looks like a lot of fun too, cram a wah in there or a uni-vibe, phaser whatever, opens up for some creative signal chain ideas. Now to see availability and price.
I used to stack a Rat with a TS. I need this pedal just for the noise gate. It does what I was already doing it but has more to it and it’s a single box. So awesome
Sounds awesome. I like that when you have the gain up full it's actually a useable tone and not uncontrollably saturated.
But what if someone wanted just a little bit more. Just a tiny bit. And a tiny tiny bit more. After all, (0 -> unusable) includes also the subrange of (0 -> usable). Pot taper can be chosen so only a little bit of the range is wasted.

Dude. Yes. You nailed it with this one.
I just got ahold of one of these gems, thank you for your work on making these amazing pedals and the demos.
This is the first pedal I've gotten excited about in years. Great job, Brian!
Why
The gate really sold me. All around outstanding pedal.
Brilliant. 2 of my favs...pinnacle and Tumnus....now in one... I love the connection options too. Very smart. Great job Mr. Wampler!

I like the way the compression accentuates the harmonics in this pedal Brian…. Good job m’man!
Brian, you’ve done it again. This sounds fantastic. Great job!
Also, the built-in gate is a fantastic idea. I assume you’ll be adding that to all of your pedals now…?! 🤣🎸🤘
