Responding to Someone Who WANTS to Go to Hell
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 6 พ.ย. 2023
- How should Christians respond to someone who says they want to go to Hell? Here are some quick thoughts.
First, it’s completely appropriate for Christians to warn people of the coming judgment. After all, Jesus did. In fact, Jesus uses some pretty graphic imagery when he tells people it’s better to pluck out your eye or cut off your hand if they cause you to sin than to be cast into Hell.
Think of it this way. Just as any decent person would warn someone of the dangers of taking cocaine, any decent Christian, who believes in a real coming judgment, should warn others of the dangers of sin.
This raises a question, when do we give up on warning people? This leads to my second point: Christian, it’s not your job to save people. Warn people? Yes. Correct people? Sure. Share the gospel? Absolutely. But there comes a time when you’ve done or said all you can. You can’t force someone to follow Jesus.
Third, if you’re going to respond to someone’s public posts, remember to speak truth with grace. In other words, don’t be a jerk. Let me do my best to model that with a response to her first challenge.

One thing to consider: when responding to someone's tiktok who clearly has no interest in God, you may not be witnessing to that tiktoker, but you may be witnessing to other viewers reading the comments. It's the same reason Christian apologists debate on stage, they know they are unlikely to convince their opponents, but they may convince the audience. Grace and love are crucial witnessing tools, even in comments with people you'll never meet.
Very true. Lee Strobel calls this ricochet evangelism.
Well put.
@@RedPenLogicTim, I would never discourage a believer with good answers from responding to atheist trolls. Not for their sake, but because other believers need strengthening.
For every Christian who responds poorly, there are more who have no response at all and may even have their faith undermined if the troll goes unanswered.
Maybe Lee would call this ricochet teaching.
Very good point!
EXACTLY
I had a guy threaten me while I was doing some street ministry. I plainly looked at him and said “would you want me to warn a blind man in the road if oncoming traffic” he said “yes”, then I told him, “how much greater should I warn, you, a blind man, of hell”. He walked away.
Edit: to everyone saying “there is no evidence of hell”, there are reasons to believe in a just God, and justice necessitates some place for it to be served, and/or because of the existence of free will, there needs to be a place where people can exist apart from God. If the guy asked me why I believe in hell, I would have told him why. I’m going out expecting questions.
Edit edit: people keep stating “at least you can see *blank*”, hence why I said blind man. A blind man cannot see what is coming at him. That’s the point! That’s why those who see warn the blind man! To all the Christians who read this, learn the evidence for hell, and learn how to share the gospel. For the nonbelievers we may seem like annoying people who are trying to put fear in y’all, but we ourselves are afraid of where you might go, we share out of the love of our hearts. God bless yall.
I like that. I use a child for an analogy. If I see a young child walking towards a big fire, I am going to warn the child, if it continues I may shout a stronger warning and if this does nothing then I will do whatever it takes to stop that child from falling into the fire. Although sometimes, there's no stopping them.
Classic! A real "Joe Kirby" moment!
Good job!

Then there is no pleading for mercy, no second changes, no time to be born again.

On one hand she wants to deny the existence of God, but on the other hand says she wants to go to Hell. Hmmmm interesting. She will accept the concept of Hell if it means she does not have to listen to Christians, who only want people to hear the Gospels so that they can make more informed decision to either accept Salvation or freely choose to deny Salvation.🤔

Something that God told my mother that has always stuck with me was “The result is not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to be obedient”
I think this is an amazing way to not get discouraged when people are stubborn towards the gospel and to put the result in God’s hands.
Amazing, I've jotted that down.
God has revealed this to me as well, and it has been so freeing! It's not my job to save anybody. That's the Holy Spirit's job. It's my job to share the Gospel and to pray. One of my favorite quotes from G.K. Chesterton "it isn't that Christianity has been tried and found false, it has been found too difficult and left untried." Her clip here expresses that perfectly, that she just doesn't want to put in the footwork to come to the proper conclusion.
Maybe if christians weren't the literal opposite of what they preach we would take their beliefs seriously
@randomusername3873 Of course, I mean that Catholicism was not tried; plenty of Catholics were tried, and found guilty. My point is that the world did not tire of the church’s ideal, but of its reality. Monasteries were impugned not for the chastity of monks, but for the unchastity of monks. Christianity was unpopular not because of the humility, but of the arrogance of Christians. Certainly, if the church failed it was largely through the churchmen. … [T]he great ideals of the past failed not by being outlived (which must mean over-lived), but by not being lived enough. Mankind has not passed through the Middle Ages. Rather mankind has retreated from the Middle Ages in reaction and rout. The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried. (G. K. Chesterton
You kind of walked right into that one
@Ausaris G.K. Chesterton, when making this statement, was actually still an atheist, and he came to this conclusion while reading other atheists. Even here in your response, rather than desiring the context of the quote, rather than asking questions or looking into it, you jump to a conclusion and ridicule. This does not jump out to me as a rational response. It is purely emotional and, in many ways, shows the truth in the quote in the way I meant to express it towards the lady in the video.

:( These people thing that they will go there with whatever form of morality they have and live in a little island without pesky Christians doing what ever they want. Problem EVERYTHING and ANYTHING we enjoy in this life is literally a result of his presence, nature or attribute. Once you are separated from Him, there is no peace, no ease, no rest, no happiness, no light, no kindness, no gratitude, no blessing. Literally being removed from him is to be only present in the absence of Him. Darkness, fear, terror, hunger, violence, rape, etc, etc. The watered down morality they think people possess is literally borrowed from Him and will also be absent. The denizens of hell will not be able to exhibit humility, gratitude, kindness, rest, peace, care, compassion, mercy, justice, beauty... for they won't be in them. All those good things are all HIS attributes and they stay with Him... why would anyone want to be separated from that into an eternal existence of horror.... and if you think hell is crazy after a year, just wait after 10 years of "evolution" people getting even more creative with evil.... have you seen how creative people have gotten with their debauchery in just the last decade alone? Imagine 100 years they'll be really creative... 1000 years of coming up with new sin......10000 years? A million years of evolving sin? I don't even have the capacity to imagine what horrors and perversions they would come up with in hell after that unfathomable amount of time.... the fact that God throws it into a fire is probably a small mercy to keep it from regressing into infinite existential horror.

You aren't supposed to pray for reprobates. There is a difference between not knowing God, and knowing God but rejecting God. You pray for the former, not the latter. Why? Because some people will never meet God no matter what you do, and your prayers are utterly wasted on them. God respects free will, he will show you the door but he won't push you through it. People reject him and that is their choice, they choose it so your prayers are empty. If they have knowingly become an enemy of God, than prayer for them is the worst thing you can do.
I’m not gonna lead someone to Heaven that clearly doesn’t want to go there. I will just continue to love them. Pray for them. God will do the rest.

@@HarryNicNicholasSatan hates God. And he hates all humans who bear God's image. Scripture states that God is goodness itself. It stands to reason then that goodness can only be experienced where God is. Hell is the one place He is not. So, there will be no good times in hell.
@@HarryNicNicholas Common misconception. Satan isn't the master of the hell. He's the first inmate. Scripture has a few places where Satan is a tempter, a force of evil, but the punishment of hell is never attributed to him. In fact, it's never a "punishment" at all. It's the natural conclusion of choices made in life.
What Christ teaches us is that those who cut themselves off from God are like deadwood pruned from a tree -- they are cast into fire and burned, while the tree and its healthy branches live.
This is part of the meaning of "by grace you have been saved." We deserve hell. Hell is the natural end to life. It's where this broken world, our broken souls, are supposed to go. God gives us an option we don't deserve, to something better, through Jesus. That's the deal.
Put it another way. Your argument is like a drowning man saying "don't throw me a rope, I don't want to get on your boat. The fish won't hurt me."
I remember how awkward and miserable it made me when someone started "witnessing" to me so I can absolutely sympathize with her. I got "saved" several times just to shut someone up. No amount of preaching and witnessing could have convinced me of my need for a Savior. It was when someone LIVED it before me, was sorrowful about his past sins, answered my questions unflinchingly when asked but never pushed or preached, and showed me what it meant to be a Christian that I was convicted and began to seek Christ for myself. I saw the genuine peace and hope in his life and wanted that for myself.
Yes, the Gospel must be preached but going in on people often just repels them and drives them away. I particularly hated it when I'd visit a friend's church only to find a group of people waiting to "encourage" me to come to the altar. I might have become a Christian years sooner if I hadn't been badgered about it so much growing up.
If I'm completely honest, it was the "Simon the sorcerer" event that was most deciding in my choice of paths. I was deeply involved in the occult at that point in my life and tried numerous things against this joyful, self-described, wretch who so irritated he with his peace. I tried several things against him but not only did they not work but I couldn't even do simple divination for several days after trying. He was plugged into something and I needed to find out what it was. By God's grace, I did.
So many people say “Don’t badger me towards a God!” as a cop out though.
Christians can be as nice and peaceful as they want towards people but we’re STILL pushing them. The trouble isn’t always the technique. A lot of it IS stubbornness on the persons part to let go of sin. Not wanting to confront it.
There are some people that came come to God your way. But many others see someone doing well in life and don’t make the same connection. Preaching and witnessing is STILL needed.
It makes me wonder if all those people really badgered you or made you actually question the reality of your sins and you didn’t feel comfortable seeing it?
I mean, you lied about being saved just to make them quiet. That shows a lot of animosity in your part with them to begin with.
@@TheKnoxvicious To me it was no different than someone trying to badger me into doing any other thing that I wasn't interested in doing. I absolutely was hostile towards it and didn't want to face my own sinfulness. The badgering was irritating because I knew I wasn't interested and told them so but they just wouldn't shut up.
I realize many people are reached that way, I'm just not one of them. Nowadays it's become people from varying denominations with wildly varying beliefs who try to start arguments about doctrinal correctness and I refuse to argue with people about religion or politics. I work with a guy who likes to pontificate about how correct his church is and tries to goad me into arguments. He will ask me what my Church teaches about such and such just so he can try to pick an argument. I just ignore him.
I think I just going to start telling people the truth, "I'm sorry but I'm autistic and genuinely don't care what you think. Now, please leave me alone."
@@MarvinThomas-nw3yi like you said, you didn't want to face your own sinfulness. Nobody does. The message of the gospel is a hard pill to swallow for people who are dead in their trespasses. It's easy when you're young to brush it off, because young people already feel invincible and like to believe they're in control of their own destiny. Although I grew up in and around the church, I never really gave my life to Christ until I was in my 30s. You kinda need to hit rock bottom and face the reality that you really don't know anything and are powerless to save yourself.
church only told me not to sin, but it seemed like arbitrary things to avoid. since i didn't understand much, i didn't take it seriously. when i kept having negative outcomes in my life, it drove me to rely on god. i learned why sin is wrong (which helped me to identify more sin). the difference between flesh and spirit is the main point. jesus said that the flesh profits nothing. and when we live by faith, that's within our spirit. recently i've been trying to get my mind out of the flesh reactions that i've lived in all my life. when i read the bible, i try to believe and accept it. i hope god blesses christians to understand how they should personally live, in order to share that with others.

To recap, there's no creation in the big bang science, just a change, from very dense, to less dense.
Tim knows all of this, he's not stupid. He decided to omit all of that. As you can see, it worked cause a lot of people commented praising the Amazing response he did, when in fact he got the science completely wrong.
God, a being who exists outside of the universe, does not have to have a beginning just because everything found in the universe has a beginning.
He exists outside of creation, therefore He is not bound by the rules of creation.
It's crazy to think that once they are there, they will be so upset at themselves for trying so hard to not believe.
@@ayybeealternative1999 He doesn't. We choose. Isn't freedom of choice awesome?
This is a big misconception I see often. Atheists aren't atheists because they want to be. They simply are. As an atheist, I'd love to believe in God. I would be clear of doubt or fear. I would know that I'm not going to hell because I believe. I would also believe there to be an afterlife, and that death isn't the complete end. Truly, I would love to not be so uncertain. The issue is that I simply don't believe.
@@Number-id3dd There is a story in the new testament where Jesus is preaching and a father who's son was possessed and going nuts came up to him. The demon was throwing the son all over, trying to make him off himself. Even seeing all of it, the father couldn't believe, and in desperation asked Jesus to help his unbelief. Jesus threw the spirit out and cured him, and the father finally, seeing with his own eyes, believed. Sometimes we just need to ask him to show himself to us. He meets us where we are..
“Forgive them Father, for they do not know what they are doing”

Pride is a dangerous thing.
The argument about the origin of the universe just reminded me of something I learned from some Lutheran thinkers.
It's probably better to start arguing from the resurrection of Christ instead of the bottom up approach from the beginning of the universe.
This way you are right at the central and most important point and the historic evidence is obviously good and strong.
Most discussions won't last long enough to get all the way from the beginning of the universe over the source of consciousness to Jesus.
It's a tricky one. Many people suggest that showing compassion and living your life holy is what will win people. I think that intellectuals will only be won through intellectual means. But then again, they usually think they already know all the answers, and arguing is pointless.
I used to feel a huge burden that I had to say exactly the right thing when sharing the Gospel with a non believer. Realizing that I am not responsible for saving anyone and that that's the job of the Holy Spirit has been SO FREEING! I now do my part to the best of my ability. I share the Gospel. I respectfully debate. I answer questions about the Bible. And I pray for the person I'm talking to. And if it's an online conversation like in the TH-cam comment section of a video, I also pray for anyone else who may someday read our conversation. Heck, someone could read a comment I wrote sharing the Gospel several years from now and it could plant a seed.
But I no longer worry about if I've done anything. Because that's not my job. My job is to share. To pray. To disciple believers. To love my neighbor. And that's it. And I have learned and grown so much! I LOVE having respectful, passionate debates with atheists. And when they ask me questions that I don't know, I love researching those questions and it helps me to grow in knowledge. And then the next time someone asks me that question, I'm ready for it! And I have no idea if I'm having any impact at all, but that isn't my concern. That's God's concern. I just have to continue being obedient to the Lord.
We must pray for her. She is lost and only Jesus and the Holy spirit and her will to let go of her understanding and having faith in him can open her eyes. And sadly Hell is a place we can't and don't wanna fathom in our worst nightmares. Plus Hell isn't the end; the Lake of Fire is worst then Hell and even demons are scared of that place. We must pray for her and ask God to soften her heart so his love can open her eyes before it's too late.
She asks, "Why can't the universe just have always existed?" Because it is proven to not be eternal. Also the fact that people want to say something created is eternal rather than worship the uncreated eternal shows the heart of the unregenerate that Paul speaks of in Romans 1:25.
Who proved it to "not be eternal"?
It's certainly not proven to not be eternal. Indeed, it has been proven to always have existed. The big bang isn't known to be the start of the universe, and even if it is, it is *still* the case the universe has always existed and there was never a time when it didn't exist.
And let's say God did indeed create the universe 13+ billion years ago. Well, that isn't the god of the bible, now is it? No six days, no garden of eden, no two humans eating fruit, no original sin. The logic doesn't follow: "Something created the universe, so now please chop off parts of your privates."
@@colinmatts Cosmologists, astrophysicists etc.
@@rodiusmaximus Thats not an answer. Try again. How have Cosmologists, astrophysicists etc. proved its not eternal?
@@kvasir8931 uh go look it up. Start with 'Big Bang theory'.
Even if you go on some wild goose chase and consider multi universes because our universe had to come from somewhere, and Newton's laws of thermodynamics must apply.....
well...that does not negate that THIS universe had a beginning.
It has been said, and rightly so, that for the believer, no amount of evidence is necessary, yet for the unbeliever, no amount of evidence is sufficient. No matter what we do or say, there are those who will, despite the best possible evidence, thoroughly reject the Gospel. All we can really do at that point is pray for them and then carry on with our own lives, as we are still sinners ourselves.
That is so true
Had you provided any actual evidence, I suspect a lot more people would believe. However, I have bunches of evidence for the world taking more than a week to come into existence, for there never having been only two humans, for no world-wide flood, no stopping of the sun in the sky, etc etc etc.
Wrong, actual evidence would suffice.
@@kvasir8931have you heard of the cell adhesion molecule, laminin? The thing that holds us together, is in the shape of a cross.
This is a silly argument. I, as an atheist, do NOT claim that no amount of evidence is sufficient. It's simply the case that no evidence so far has been sufficient, or even close to being actual evidence. I do not know what amount or type of evidence will convince me. However, there is somebody who does know. God. God should absolutely know what evidence it'll take to convince me. And the fact that he hasn't, makes me not believe him, which in turn condemns me to hell (supposedly), which means that God himself is condemning me to hell. What a horrible guy.
Please, do pray for me.
Wow….if she is asking us to stop commenting…then we must be doing our job…this encourages me…❤
I'm finally starting to understand that we don't need to get/understand why things are... we just have to have faith and wait on the Lord. Answers are coming we just need to make sure we're on the right side of the tracks
Thank you for the video 😊
The Lord’s love + grace be with you
Hope you are all well and resting in Jesus saving love + grace 😊
Blessings friends 😊
Excellent response
It is correct that we should not be rude to people if they don't want to hear the Gospel
We can only tell them about God
If they dont want to hear it then we can just pray
I don't want her to go to hell, please god don't let her go to hell! Please for the love of Jesus don't abandon her, dont let her go!
Respect everyone’s free will. Any “christian” who forces another isn’t a christian. We can only be an example to lead them to the real Christ. By showing our love, respect for free will, forgiveness as we’ve been forgiven, patience, etc. etc.
