I grew up in Lancaster county and my favorite chips were always Kay & Ray's. But I still liked Utz and Herr's. So many good potato chip and pretzel companies from such a small section of the US.

FYI- Pennsylvania leads the United States in potato chip production, and has been dubbed "the Potato Chip Capital" by several sources. We LOVE our chips!!!!!!!! Some of the best Salt and Vinegar chips are Middleswarth brand. They will eat layers off the inside of your mouth. So good!!!!!!

@@tamoshanter6268 My brother in law used to work for Middleswarth -- every family get-together at my in-laws featured at least one large 'Weekender' bag each of their regular and barbecue chips. I like their sour cream & onion flavor, but my favorite chips are by Utz -- the Crab Chips and Carolina BBQ.

Thing is, there are SO MANY potato chip (and pretzel) companies in Pennsylvania, it would take a 6 hour video to cover them completely. I dunno what it is about PA, but their chips blanket the nation.
Jafafa Hots, Chips and pretzels. It goes back to the German settlers and also the soil here produces the best potatoes for chips.
@@paulshayter1113 A lot of potatos grown here in NY are used for chips, even shipped to PA for chips, and I read in some accounts that Western New York potatos are considered the best for chips. But who knows. Lately all the potato fields are being replaced with McMansions anyway. Oh, and the potato "chip" as we know it here in the USA was invented in Saratoga Springs NY, and they were originally called "Saratoga Crisps." I'm honestly surprised that no modern company has marketed a kettle chip with that name.
Jafafa Hots, I would think the soil we be similar between NY and PA. and with production of chips in PA. as high as it is I suspect the larger producers are buying potatoes from all over.
You also right about the McMansions taking valuable farm land.
I live in PA and in the southern part of the state there are several potato chip factories. Actually I find sea salt to not be as strong as regular salt. Also, there are ferris wheels on the boardwalks by the sea.
I’m from Pa and we are so spoiled when it comes to chips n pretzel.
My mom was born & raised in Ireland, so
we always had access to food from there and I love Taytos! As far as Pennsylvania chips...there’s also Utz, Herrs, Goods, Middleswarth, Gibbles, & Dieffanbachs. Utz is the best ones in my opinion. What can I say..us Pennsylvanians love our chips!

i recently moved to Ireland and i came here hating vinegar and now my only plan for today is to get some vinegar flavoured crisps they're so goooooooddd!
Ya'll make me feel lucky to live in Pennsylvania. The sheer variety of locally produced chips at the store is awesome. Btw, if it wasn't for that pesky New Jersey we'd have a better ocean view.
The reason that the vinegar chips show a ocean side carnival place is that on the East Coast, fries with vinegar is an ocean side treat, not offered inland or in restaurants. Only available at beaches, or sea side parks or carnivals. Old fashioned potato presses cut and slice the tatoes right into an oile tub to fried and crisp, served in a large cardboard bowl with salt and vinegar.

Jesus, we don't share our chips that easily. Each person at a party needs to get their own bag.
Love this Channel. One suggestion when you have them trying food, give them the food like Crisp give it in a bowl or plate and let them guess what is the flavors.
Another suggestion would be to stop throwing the bags of chips (or cookies, or anything breakable). I flinch every time, just imagining the layer of crumbs at the bottom of the bag.
I've said it before so I'll say it again "I LOVE ❤❤❤ YOU GUYS. Who ever came up with this idea made us all laugh.

The best Salt and Vinegar chips from Pennsylvania that will tear your mouth apart with the vinegar, are Herr’s, they’re the best.

It's not that far--only about an hour from the Atlantic Ocean. New Jersey and Delaware are relatively small states that are in between.

It's like that all over Europe. We have them, but they're few and far between. Who needs to eat half a pound of chips in one sitting anyway? You'd struggle to not drown in all that oil.

The jalapeno flavor is way better than the red hot flavor. Love Martin's, especially the bbq waffle! You can buy a bag bigger than those at the factory store.
We have chip clips to seal the bag. Unless you have a crowd that isn't for one person. 🤗

Pennsylvania potato chip makers don't mess around with fancy exotic flavors. They make the mainstream flavors right and that's all they have to do
Herr's has some wacky flavors but they're usually just around for a short time and then they're gone. Some of the flavors I can remember were steak and Worchestershire sauce, Texas Pete's hot sauce, ketchup and mustard, and baby back ribs. I saw a bag of salt and vinegar and barbeque in the store but I haven't tried them yet.
The honey barbecue options are usually my favorites.

Not far either. Lancaster is 90 minutes at most west of Philly and it's only 60 miles from Philadelphia to Atlantic City. Get real people.

Can we get them to eat some Florida favorites or Florida unique food such as, conch Salad or Conch fritters or possibly some gator bites or gator jerky. Oh and desserts like key lime pie. Be fun to see some of them react to that.
Maybe not gator, but depending on what part of the state you are, rich in seafood. And there is the Cuban sandwich as well as the lesser known orange meringue pie and a range of sweets aimed at tourists but loved by locals too. Plenty of tasty treats for Try people to sample.

DamonBlakesApt @1:34, Atlantic City is about 90-ish minutes from Philadelphia, in the Southeastern corner of Pennsylvania. The further west one travels in PA, the further from the Sea one is. I'm in Southwestern PA, near Pittsburgh, and it's about 8 hours minimum to the Sea.
Of course, now we cue the naysayers to my statements: "I drove from Pittsburgh to the Atlantic Ocean in four and a half hours back in 1991, and my buddy Jack threw up when we got there...." 😂😂😂
Martin's chips is based in Thomasville, in South Central PA, about 30 minutes south of the state capitol, Harrisburg.

Awesome, I loved Martin's chips when I lived in Pennsylvania! The salt and vinegar chips are actually really good as a counterpoint to a heavy, bitter beer like a Guinness.

Reason for the fair/carnival on the bag of salt & vinegar is because in the US at least a lot of people will use malt vinegar on french fries (or chips as they are called in Ireland) at carnivals, it's almost as much of a tradition as getting a funnel cake or elephant ear
