A lovely Canadain viewer sent us a selection of "Uncle Ray's" chips, apparently a favourite of Michigan. We were intrigued by Uncle Ray having individual stories for each of the bags... who is this man?! We sat down our Irish People to see what they made of him, and his potato snacks...

Uncle Ray's Maple and bacon taste like salted maple syrup, in a good way, but no bacon... Until you burp. That's when you get all the bacon flavor.

Paddy and Ciara in the same vid? TOGETHER IN THE SAME SESSION? It's a shipper's heaven! (I'm not saying that I'm a shipper...but if I was, I would would ship Ciara and Paddy. Both so level-headed, yet bubbly. Both so game for ANYTHING. Both so overwhelmingly positive and delightful. I can't think of a single time either has frowned. They're perfect together.)
I'm not usually one to ship real people but they would make a really cute couple.

Rock & Rye is the best.
It tastes like ass now. Unless it's in a glass bottle it has sucralose in it and none of the flavors taste right anymore.

Grew up with Faygo, but to be honest I had it for the first time in a long time last year and the flavor was really artificial tasting. I know it's pop, but my memory of it was better.

Down south of Michigan, here in The Peoples Republic of Illinois, there's a local gas station that carries all of the Ray's chips, as well as other brands and flavors that you will NEVER find in a grocery store. A superb destination for a midnight munchie run.

Alabamian’s ADORE Uncle Ray’s! Hometown sandwich shops in different cities carry Uncle Ray’s bc he built from the ground up & they hope to do the same. Most vanilla flavor comes from beaver butt glands, which is a natural flavor. Pretty funny.

You don't have to go to Michigan, they're sold in almost every gas station in the Midwest... I'm in Indianapolis and you can find them in almost any store here

I've lived in Michigan for over 20 years and never heard of Better Maid. I've seen Ray's before, but I usually buy Meijer brand because they have the most flavor.

As another Michigander oh must tell ya. You were denied of uncle Ray’s best flavor of potato chip. The dill pickle flavor is mind numbingly sublime.
And the absolute best bbq and hot bbq chips come from Better Made potato chip company. Which is a Detroit favorite brand.

Hi from Michigan. Uncle Ray's also comes in BBQ, Mesquite BBQ, Kosher Dill, Jalapeño, Sour Cream and Cheddar, Salt and Vinegar, and Salt and Pepper.
Years ago, they also had Onion and Ketchup and Mustard, which sounds not so good but they were actually very good. Wish they still had them.

Also, here's a great "BBQ" flavor you can make yourself, the best part is you can adjust it to your tastes and add as much or little as you want.
Brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, tomato powder, chipotle powder, cayenne, black pepper, citric acid, tartic acid, and salt(if chips are already salted you probably don't want to add any more)

My favorite is the dill flavor. Its more of a creamy dill and you can see the dill on them, not a vinegar dill.
Fairly certain the only reason for a maple bacon chip is because we're so close to Canada.

LOL!! No. Uncle Rays dominates the chip racks, in small town gas stations and convenience stores. Bettermaid is more common in the burbs chain Grocery stores. Heck, the bait and tackle shops on the west side carry Rays, and I have grabbed a bag or twelve in Petosky and Negaunee. Quit grocery shopping in Wal-mart and you will see them, and change your mind.;)

They are most common in the Detroit area but can be found as far north as the tip of the Mit and as far west as muskegon area or grand Rapids I forget
uncle Ray's and better made have factorys in Detroit and are local state brands ....

Those Uncle Ray's chips are really pretty good, especially the hot ones. I used to eat a bag full for lunch from time to time, but since moving from West Virginia to Cleveland, Ohio, I haven't seen any.
