Great review. I’m 78 years old with 2 cats and I need to minimize bending. I’ve had the Breeze system for a couple of months now (two of the original size boxes). One cat adjusted quickly; the other one took about a week. I’m continuing to use the Breeze pellets, but I bought a box of 80 Amazon Basics pads for $43 and they’re a perfect fit. I wish I had tried the Breeze system years ago. It is so much easier to maintain, and I love not having litter scattered everywhere.
Best video on the subject. You get to the point. Cover all the important stuff, and dont repeat the same sentence 5 times. Very much enjoyed watching this, you have a beautiful personality!
I use the pine pellets from tractor supply and then I use dog pee pads If you want a larger dish for the dust to go in put the top part in a large cat litter box you have a lot more room for the dust to fall into
See... why didn't I watch the video and read these comments before I just changed the box. I was just wanting to see if others were using the pee pads still with the saw dust. I didn't use one bc my daughter lost them after she kindly unboxed the box for me and then left papers and apparently supplies that came with it all over the house. Oh, amd the box she left in 3 pieces without putting the pellets in it. I think my cat was shaking her head right along with me
Another reviewer (not nearly as easy to watch as this one!) the lady bought a plastic tub at Lowe's which she put underneath the XL system. She did not use the Breeze urine tray, but instead she used larger pads (perhaps puppy pads) which covered the tub and went up the sides just a bit. The sawdust piled up on the pad, and you could even lift the XL off and spread the sawdust a bit and get more days out of it. When it's time to change, take the four corners of the pad and gather them so you can lift the whole thing into a trash bag. However, before you switch to pine pellets, read on: For the XL system, I do recommend using the seven pounds supplied plus a 3½ pound for a little extra coverage. When you scoop the poop (RHYMES! I'm a poet and didn't know it!) make sure to cover the bottom grate with pellets. The cats love to plow around in there and if the bottom slots are uncovered, you will be able to smell urine -- but not if you keep the slots covered. One of the problems with the system is that if the cat's solid waste is moist, the pellets will cling to it and you have better things to do with your life than trying to salvage poopy-pellets! So you're gonna throw a bunch of pellets away. In practice, the pellets don't need to be changed as often as they say. If you have enough pellets to keep the grate covered, it will do fine. HERE'S THE BIG THING TO WATCH FOR!! DO NOT ALLOW YOUR URINE PAD TO BECOME SATURATED!!! I have three young cats and I have an XL and a Regular. Six days (for me). If you do that, the pad will be saturated with urine, but there will not be liquid overflowing into the channels of the tray. A tall kitchen bag on the floor opened so that you can slide the urine tray part way into it. Pick the trash bag up right next to the tray and the urine-soaked pad will slide (Bloop!) down into the bag and the tray will be clean and dry. Replace the pad and slide it back in. The Purine Breeze pads are EXACTLY the correct size and you never have to touch a wet pad! The XL and regular use the same size pad and those pads are a perfect fit for the tray. When you go one day too long, you'll have a sloshing mess and you'll have to wash out the tray. Bath tub with shower hose and spray will be a nice thing to have on that day. Remember how many days that was and subtract one day! to avoid a repeat. If you change the pads timely, the tray will be dry, the new pad will lay in the tray just right with the sides neatly folded up all around and you'll not even have to wash your hands! You will, of course; but you can change the pads in two of these without getting your fingers wet!
I have two regular systems for over 2 years and have been using wood pellets since the beginning. I would like the zeolite pellets that is included, but instead use pine pellets. I change the pads twice a week and I have three cats. One large 40 lb bag of pine pellets cost no more than $7 Cdn at hardware and garden stores. For the same brand at a pet store it’s double the price. One bag will last me around 2 months. In Canada Breeze boxes are not available unless you’re willing to pay twice the price for it to be shipped from US or have friends from US buy it and send it to you. I don’t know why Purina doesn’t make it available here, but thanks for making me find a much cheaper way to use the system!
Thanks for the review! I've been using the XL version for about 2 months. 4 cats and between the dust control, scatter and odor, it's amazing! My cats are still transitioning bc they won't poop in it yet, but they definitely choose to pee in it! I just bought a second XL and a bag of pine pellets so we will see how that goes! Overall right now I am very happy with this system except for the costs!
Put on a pair of gloves and move a few pieces of poop to the Breeze box. They'll get the idea quickly. My three took about two days to figure it out. DON'T PUT PINE PELLETS IN THE BREEZE unless you put a deep box under it. The pine goes to sawdust and will overload the urine tray in less than a day!!
I’ve been looking for an alternate litter box for my 4 cats. The one has gotten really finicky about using a dirty box. So I started looking at the self cleaning ones. Almost put down $600 to try one out. Then started watching more TH-cam videos and saw the one lady using the sifting box from arm & hammer with the kiln fired pine pellets. The saw the one using these breeze boxes with modified use of kiln pine pellets also. Long story short I searched Amazon market place and found someone selling breeze xl for $25!! It’s used but I think I can sanitize it for the $35 saving!! I found Walmart sells the kiln pine pellets for about $5.50 for the 40lb bag. I’m not going to bother with the pads. I’m just going to prop it on a taller litter box and use a trash bag. Sorry for the novel. lol. Great full review!!
I have the basic breeze system and struggled with pulling the tray out (ok, it has no smell and I let it get a bit full. I couldn't figure out how to do it bc when I took the tray out dust went all in the floor. I was putting th2 whole box in the big black lawn trash bag and then using a tall kitchen bag to pull the tray out into and kinda doing all of this blind as I was doing it inside of bags. Trash bags were going to take up any money I had saved but I love it too much to change to anything else. You just saved my sanity and my wallet as well ask made me hit myself rather hard on the forehead asking "why did I not think about setting it on top of another litter box. Then you can even scrape around to make sure all of the dust is out! The video was amazing even though I have one and use it with the pine pellets and by reading the comments I no longer have to climb into trash bags!
Thank you so much for your video. I was given one of these cat boxes and followed your suggestions and got the wooden pellets you showed on this video. My cats LOVE IT! I was worried about my old cat but she went right it. Your right pellets are cheaper! I got a 20lbs bag for $12 at Walmart
Very good review, but I got he breeze system a week ago my cat played with it… just a kitten, but wanted to tell you that you can buy the pine at tractor supply for $6. 29 a 41 pound bag . It’s Pelletized Litter you will see a horse on the bag and it’s used for horses and cats smells fresh and is pellets. Hope you have a great day! Good luck!
WAIT!! Don't do that!! The pine pellets disintegrate and will fall through and fill up your urine tray in next to no time! If you want to use the pine pellets, you MUST have a two or three inch gap below the box to allow the sawdust to accumulate. The BREEZE pellets do not disintegrate and the urine simply runs through the pellets and gets soaked up by the pad. I've used the pine pellets from Tractor Supply, and that works, but won't work with the Breeze box without modification.
@@charlesmoore1762 But isn't that what she does in the video? I'm confused 🤔 She talks about using the wood pellets that turn to sawdust and you stir it around and it falls through the grate. Maybe you just have to change it out quicker.
Absolute must have if you have one cat it saves me lots of time and is not expensive as I replace the pad every 10 days since my cat only pees on one side so on day 5 I flip the pad over. Luckily my cat doesn't need lots of litter as she does a very good job covering her poop. And this does a great job at eliminating the smell!!!
What I didn’t like and I’m a new cat mom, is the fact poop sticks to the loos pellets and skaters throughout the box. It gets on his paws and he’s tracking poop.
You da best!! I've got to go, so I'm gonna watch the rest of this later. Then, if you don't answer my question, I'll post a reply and see if I can get educated. I have four cats; 3 of them using Breeze; the fourth is isolated (hiding!) and he uses clumping litter. I have a Breeze system and a Breeze XL system for the three. I have to keep them away from the clumping box because they love to play in it and next thing ya know, I've got four cats using one clumping litter box! That won't cut it, so I had to separate the two groups -- that's a pain in the butt all by itself. I'm eight minutes into your review, and I'll be back later for the rest. BUT, repeating myself! Your presentation is charming, entertaining, and your personality is overflowing! You are the best! Subscribed -- see ya soon!
If you don’t have a tractor supply store close to you you can go ahead and look up nearby hardware stores. I have to go through ACE hardware stores, it’s still less than $10 for a 40 pound bag without me having to travel 60 miles out for a tractor supply store.
You can spend $7 for 40 lbs and a pet supply or tractor supply. You're way over paying twice as much using chewy. Get it local at a pet. Not pet shop but your farm supply outlets in your town. Just get equine bedding pellets
Wow, this Purina Tidy Cats litter box system looks great! The anti-tracking pellets and 99.9% dust-free feature really caught my attention. But have you heard of Aimicat? It's a smart, self-cleaning litter box that takes convenience to a whole new level. No more scooping or dealing with odors! I've been using it for months and it's been a game-changer. You should definitely check it out!
Several hundred dollars, and nothing is perfect. A friend has one he was telling me about and he loves it. but he's a retired dentist and doesn't worry about money!
Walnut pellets work better with this system as an alternative rather than pine pellets in my experience. You can continue to use the system as originally intended with them versus pine pellets that completely break down. The walnut pellets produce very little saw dust. The caveat is that the walnut pellets are dark and poop blends in a little (could be a positive lol). Walnut is actually also really good at odor control. I personally mix the original breeze pellets with the walnut shell pellets.
You can do even better and get the kiln dried pine pellets used for horse bedding for $5 40# bag. Go to any farm feed store. Make sure they are kiln dried otherwise not good for cats.
I just came across your videos tonight and i am so glad i did. I used to have several cats but reecntly only have my 4.9 lb Chihuahua who is beyond awesome (she has never barked (I mean ever but the vet says she probably jast doesn't have anything to say) or nipped at people like most Chis do, and we moved in to help my 82 YEAR OLD daddy since my mom passed away. My daughter brings me this poor little TINy bit belly huge from worms kitten that was a sibling of the one she got (her bfs mom found them after mother abandoned them. My Daddy said NO ABSOLUTELY Not! He did not want another cat in his house ever again (his cabinets and chairs support his choice) but my daughter just left and there i am with this little sick kitty and behind the door was a small bag of litter and a few cans of food. Her sneaky plan of course worked for me but my Daddy insisted the cat stay in my room which is not very big at all. When she would escape out of my door i would immediately hear my Daddy (use your loudest country voice adding many cuss words in between "come get this blankety blank blank cat out of here NOWWW! and more of those colorful words to follow. Of course there was no way i could get rid of her after forking out so much money at vet and supplies (and Lucy was not very fond of her) my Daddy had come past my room going to his room or coming to tell me something (ok, and a couple of times to toss my cat to me bc she got out and was clawing on the furniture which i desperately need advice on. She weighs 2lbs ?oz so she is still just a little booger but she can do a number on tearing thinbs up now including climbing up my leg i had no pants on (shorts lol) and will stop and decide to hang there and then turn and jump on bed or the opposite of where she was headed to start with so my skin twists as she does bc her claw is still in my leg. I cant yell ouch bc Daddy will here and fuss about the cat lol. Im sorry i am so way off topic... obviously i have ADHD pretty bad and i wonder if cats can have it bc if so mine does.
Two or three bits of good news for you: 1) she'll do less of that as she becomes an adult; 2) Wrangler makes denim jeans in a size and style that would suit you and which will protect your legs from the claws; 3) pedicure for cats generally costs about $20 and you can learn to do it yourself -- but watch a pro do it a couple times first because you have to be very careful to not cut back into the quick! 4) clawing will diminish SOME with age/maturity, and sisal scratching posts placed near the attractive site. Rule of thumb is vertical scratching post next to the corner of the sofa helps to protect the corner of the sofa (diversion) and horizontal pad divert from rug-scratching. Neither is fool-proof, but that does help. 5) Cats are ADHD by genetic, and I doubt medication is helpful. Toys, toys, toys! The kind with feathers on the end of a fishing pole-like contraption. And remember, the cat HAS TO WIN, occasionally. Intense play just before feeding is recommended --- cats hunt, capture, eat and sleep (in that order!). 6) Girl cats are more docile in general than boys. When a male cat is neutered, that does not get rid of all the male aggressive behavior. Part of the aggression is a function of the hypothalamus (like I know what I'm talking about!). Best wishes! I don't blame your dad, but neither would I suggest putting the cat down. The cat can't help being a cat -- wasn't given a choice!
I bought the Breeze hooded litter box. I'm using horse pellets, which is for cats too. A 40 lb bag is $6.00 a bag. I get generic pads from Amazon. I changed to this system to make it cheaper cause cat litter was getting to expensive.
Awesome review. Wondering if my cats poo is a little soft is it still easy to clean or does it get all over the pellets. I’m seriously considering this system and you gave great details in your review. Tx
Hi How are you & your Kitties,? I bought the Original Breeze.I probably in should bought the no big one..I only have ,1 cat, so I bought the Original one. He's doing Ok.
The pads are the exact correct size. Stick with them. Shop around for sales/quantity discounts/and avoid the scented pads. DON'T exceed the capacity of the pad -- one extra day can cause yukky cleanup problem.
awesome video, and great suggestions! so, with using the wood pellets (also looks like you can get the feline pine bag on Amazon?? :) ) how much did you end up putting in the box? (so it covers the grate with a little height I'm guessing?) and, do you still use the pad for yours using the wood pellets? and either way, is there any time you have noticed urine still being passed through the grate instead of sawdust? Thanks again, this is definitely helping me decide what box/system to get for 2 kittens I'm thinking of getting soon :)
I wrote extensively about this above, which please see. Keep the slots covered with either the pine pellets or the Breeze pellets and you'll have no odor problem. IF you use pine pellets, get them from a feed store like Tractor Supply because they MUST BE KILN DRIED or they can be toxic for cats. "Pelletized Bedding for Horses and Small Animals" will have a picture of a horse and next to it a rabbit and a cat. That's what you need. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that if you use pellets, replace the urine tray with a big tub which will fit the bottom of the Breeze system. When you scoop the poop each day or so, stir the pellets so the sawdust falls through the bottom grate into the tub. The tub should have a puppy pad fully covering the tub and up the sides a bit so the sawdust can pile up in the area under the grate. As you stir, make sure you leave the grate covered with pellets because that will completely block any urine odor. Actually, the pellets get rid of most of that smell as they return to sawdust. The important thing to keep in mind is that the pine pellets are really just sawdust that has been compressed into pellet shapes. The urine (or water, for that matter) simply releases the natural binding of the pine which allows it to return to the sawdust state. The reason it is so cheap is that plywood mills have a real problem getting rid of all the sawdust. Some genius figured out a way to sell the sawdust problem while solving an equne problem -- horses don't stand up 24/7 but they like to lie down on something soft and squishy that smells good -- pine pellets are perfect! And because horses don't use litter boxes, mucking out the sawdust beats a lot of other ways. Rabbits and cats, same thing (except cats are less inclined to sleep in it!).
I had forgot my original comment about this awesome litter box (and i knew i was saving by using the pine pellets (and i have the exact brand you are using so i can only speak for that brand but am i the only person who has become addicted to looking in litterbox everytime i walk by and get excited when i see saw dust and can use the scoop to shake it away to the pan? I can barely spot a little bit of dust (keep in mind she is still under 3 lbs and i imagine eventually they will be larger and may have smell but right now even as im scratching them down the box smells so great! I dont think litter boxes should affect me this way and am hoping someone with read this and feel the same way.
Keep the slots covered and the smell will all be down below. You'll like it. DON'T LET THE URINE TRAY GET FULL!!! You can tip the urine tray up into a trash bag and never have to touch it and never even wash it! if you follow that advice, the tray will be dry and the new pad will take the place of the old one and never soil your hands!
I find the scoop is strong enough but too small. I ended up getting regular scooper from Dollarama and cutting alternate slats to allow the wood pellets to sift through. Using the same one for almost 3 years for 2 boxes, no problem. Would suggest getting a backup just in case it breaks.
I Upgraded my Cat's litterbox recently to the Breeze XL . Unfortunately my cat is using the old box for his poop and the Breeze for his pee. How long it take for your Kitty to transition.

Do you have the XL breeze? If so, what collection box do you have
Another reviewer (not nearly as easy to watch as this one!) the lady bought a plastic tub at Lowe's which she put underneath the XL system.
You do a Great Job. Have a Purrfect day😻
How did everyone’s cat take to the pellets when switching from clay litter??
I bought the Breeze hooded litter box. I'm using horse pellets, which is for cats too. A 40 lb bag is $6.00 a bag. I get generic pads from Amazon. I changed to this system to make it cheaper cause cat litter was getting to expensive.
Great review! Just sad it costs 279$ for one of these in Canada :(((
I have the Original Breeze but I'm getting the XL because He needs more room.
I bought the XL at PetSmart for 74.00 total. I'm planning on getting Wood pellets. I bought the Multi cat pads.
I like the Multi cat pads, My Peanut is still transitioning.
IF I HAVE 1 CAT, CAN I GET THE ORIGINAL ONE?
Awesome review. Wondering if my cats poo is a little soft is it still easy to clean or does it get all over the pellets. I’m seriously considering this system and you gave great details in your review. Tx
It unfortunately does get all over the pellets.
40 pound bag of pine pellets, $5.99 at TSC.
Hi How are you & your Kitties,? I bought the Original Breeze.I probably in should bought the no big one..I only have ,1 cat, so I bought the Original one. He's doing Ok.
I’m looking for a cheaper alternative to the pads they include. My 2 kittens use a pad a week so far. Any suggestions?
The pads are the exact correct size. Stick with them. Shop around for sales/quantity discounts/and avoid the scented pads. DON'T exceed the capacity of the pad -- one extra day can cause yukky cleanup problem.
Tractor supply 40lbs wood pellets 6$
DOES TRACTOR SHIP THE BAGS, AND WHAT IS THE COST TO SHIP?
I use pine pellets from tractor supply company. 40 pound bag for ... 5 dollars, 99 cents .... Savin even more!!!!!!!
I might get one. I was looking for one on sale.
I Love your Cat shirt 😺
How about the alternative ,Equnine way?
I bought puppy pads . From Walmart $ 9.97, 50 pads.
awesome video, and great suggestions! so, with using the wood pellets (also looks like you can get the feline pine bag on Amazon??
Oh I really like this this is really informative but what are your cats name they need to be introduced to but keep them common it’s nice
I feel that the Scoop could be a little stronger..
I find the scoop is strong enough but too small. I ended up getting regular scooper from Dollarama and cutting alternate slats to allow the wood pellets to sift through. Using the same one for almost 3 years for 2 boxes, no problem. Would suggest getting a backup just in case it breaks.
Did the wood pellets have the same smell protection?
Yes for the pee and not for poop if your cat doesn’t cover it.
Ringo said he want's another one.
Hello Katastic, You can buy Puppy pee pads too.
I like You😃
I Upgraded my Cat's litterbox recently to the Breeze XL . Unfortunately my cat is using the old box for his poop and the Breeze for his pee. How long it take for your Kitty to transition.
Put some poop from the old into the new and the cat will figure it our quickly.
Another thing they are wood
