- Hi everyone! Our flight @easyJet EJU3969 was scheduled from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Reykjavik (KEF).
Unfortunately during our cruise over UK we had an engine issue and the crew dicided to divert to Edinburgh (EDI).
After the landing the ground engineers tried to fix the problem but it was worse than expected. So it was necessary to bring the airplane to the hangar and the flight to Reykjavik has been rescheduled for the next day.

On the exact day this was uploaded I was on an easyJet flight from Gatwick to Malaga.
Went without hitch.
On the return flight on the 20th September however, heavy rain and gustery winds made the approach rather unnerving, plane being blown around all over the place. On final the plane in front, an Aurigny aircraft, struck a bird, and we were forced to initiate a go around.
First one i've ever experienced in the 21 years since I had my first ever flight.

I got a question. why did you put the "were" before the subject (pilots)? I mean, I'm not a native English speakers, so according to what I've learned the verb is always after the noun, subject whatever. in my native language we can say like that, the verb before the subject (how calm were the pilots), however as I said I've never seen someone saying I could do that in english as well, so automatically I think it should be "how calm the pilots were". Keep In mind I'm talking about what I've learned, I'm not necessarily saying that sentence formulation is wrong. cheers

I question if it was an "Emergency" at all since there was No ground emergency crew at all and the the flight went directly to a gate... LOL, not exactly how an emergency supposed to be handled...
Lovely example of a modern airliner. By the time all the lift enhancing devices are deployed and the spoilers open about all that's left in its original position is the Main spar of the wing.

The quality of this video looks very similar to some I’ve filmed in action mode on my iPhone 14 pro max; I flew this exact route a week ago and the landing looks spot on. Planes are meant to be able to land with one engine, pilots did a good job there.

A320Neo has two engines options airline can choose.
CFMI-Leap and PW1100.
PW1100 is the one that has a major problem, it even caused Turkish airline to ground their A320neo/A321neo in Sep 2023.
But Easyjet chose the CMFI. So I'm rather surprised to see it has engine problem.

During the flight the flight attendants positioned at the back of the plane heard a strange noise from the right engine which they reported to the cabin (where they had already detected the problem). The problem appears to be linked to the hot air circulation system and therefore also to the de-icing system. Continuing the flight to Iceland was not appropriate since there would not have been Easyjet technicians there capable of investigating the problem and fixing it. For this reason it was decided to divert to Edinburgh (Easyjet's base) in order to have all the necessary skills to resolve the fault as soon as possible and set off again. Unfortunately on the ground they realized that fixing the problem was taking longer than expected (initially they thought it was just a sensor problem). That's why we left the next day. I hope I have clarified all your doubts, see you soon! 😃😃😃

Great news. However don't worry these planes are perfectly safe with one engine. Would love to know what the exact issue was. There will be a full investigation.

Oh so the engine did break but it was just a straightforward landing but no involving with the evacuation slides but it was sent to rekjavik that's the capital of Iceland.

Totally terrifying....So glad this horrendous flight and desperate landing was able to be filmed and the camera survive the emergency landing. Next time, try filming paint dry. It would be as exciting: or better still, keep eating your peanuts and forget about your camera.
