This was a mixed emotion vlog. I cried seeing Mommy and Percy saying goodbye, and cheered when the men removed all the hoard from the unfinished suite for Nati. I had wondered what happened to that room. Always a joy to spend time with you and all the volunteers, staff, and friends at LaLande.
I had that lump thing going on in my throat when mummy and Percy were saying good bye, such a lovely couple. Clean outs are good for the sole but also buying new things are just as good too nothing like change . Love this Channel such fun to watch always brings a smile or tears sometimes ❤🧡💜💚💙💛

It takes an extraordinary individual to create such a welcoming, warm and safe space as you have with Lalande. Stephanie; you, Micheal and Nick are great owners and friends and everything seems to fit in seamlessly, even though I can understand that there were hiccups along the way, so WELL DONE!!
I have an old English friend in my village, I translate for her as in 25 years she never learnt French. She is a hoarder, books and clothes and her large house is full, her garage-s are full, her basement is full. She asked me to find someone to build a small extension for her, I said no ! These days I buy something I give something, slowly improving, it's a slippery slope and I do watch the TV show on YT 'Hoarders' to prevent me from one day being a hoarder ! That said, tomorrow we are off to Emmaus !

Just a piece of advice, do a lead test on the bath before you install it. Some of the old tubs have lead in them and can only be used if redone.
Percy and Isabelle are couple goals, so heartwarming and adorable. A great stash of furniture and treasures for the chateau, can't wait to see it all put into place. It's equally fun to see the destashing, makes me want to destash my own home. Hoping to get my legs working again to do that job. It's often difficult to let go of things that once gave you joy. I was a rainy day hoarder so I get it, you are doing well letting go Stephanie. I do like the pink sofa it indeed looks like a snuggly place to sit.
Michael is so hilarious! 😂 Just love him, and his quirky finds. I can see how LaLande needs a nice clear out now and then. 🥰

@Christine VR Yes, Michael moved into Lalande as his homebase. He gave up his other job and travels now to photograph Formula One events full time. He has his own vlog.

As a fellow hoarder who has to do periodic clean outs, it’s great to see you also doing a little spring cleaning. I am also seeing parts of the chateau that I haven’t before so that is quite fun! Will look forward to seeing what you do with your newly cleared spaces in the future.

I often get excited about new channels and I watch for two or three weeks, then I quickly lose interest, The chateau diaries is totally unique, it must be incredibly challenging to

Stephanie gave Michael a room in the attic for his stuff. There is room behind Narnia for a photographic studio. He just needs to keep it neat now. In front of Narnia, there is room for a bathroom and bedroom/sitting room. Maybe Antoine will do up the space when he is a teenager. 😘😘😘

I had been wondering about Natti’s apartment and when we’d be seeing Ian the builder again. The clear out must have felt like a weight lifted! Saving stuff for just in case can be a life saver in times of need but it can also become a heavy burden. I think with all of the support from the community you’ve created there is no need to fear for the worst anymore. ❤

Transitions. Out with the old, in with the new - although, the painted chandelier in Isabelle's space which will be replaced by the 2 new ones, is adorable. Hope you find a good spot for it! Lelande has truly settled into winter, and its occupants along with it.
The two new ones are going way up on the beams not over the table. The little one will still be there until they find something else.

Hello Chateau gang great to see you all enjoying life and Happy New Year to you all I live not far from you in the Vienne south of Poitiers . You reminded me that we need to do some decluttering next month after 7 yrs living here we need to clear out and tidy up. Most of our renovation are completed now on the house just starting to go around the house looking at where we need to paint and freshen up . We are not on such a grand scale as you we have a large farm house in 5 acre next to the house and a further 5.5 acre of wood land close by..

I have the same cast iron daybed sitting in my garden for the moment. It used to be in my father in laws home on the Rue de Cherche Midi, it had red heavy sating mattress and bolsters with a greek key ribbon trim. Thinking of taking it in to use as a sofa in front of the TV which I don't use but guests sometimes do. Mine is painted black but I'm sure that under that paint is something much nicer like yours ! xo
