@@isaiahkern9434 By earlier, I meant earliest as in the first few games. The first four games didn't have a fast forward was my point and in the OG Superstar Saga whenever the bros split up Luigi would use the A button in the field and the B button in battle. So it's pretty much the same there.
That’s what I’m saying, I feel like the criticism was valid for sure, but the score itself was too low. I feel like a 7 would have been more fair. A 5 is ridiculous.
There's a reason why if you wonder if a game is good, you look at what actual fans say and if you listen to ANY game journalist, its not IGN. Never, ever, ever, trust IGN. Every game has its issues and this game is definitely having growing pains that are obvious since it has been years since the last one. Their review seems way too harsh for sure. Even if IGN ever is right about a game, something I doubt due to many recent events, I wouldn't trust them at all.
@jonathanrivera585 they've also given some of the worst games ever 8s and 9s. More often than not their reviews are not only biased, but also blatantly show that they don't understand the game they're playing. I don't think IGN should ever be trusted on games, if you want to know if a game is good? Look at other reviews and those from fans. Far more reliable
Metaphor and Shadow Generations both got good scores but I should NEVER TRUST IGN. Metal Slug Tactics got a really good review. Can't trust that though. Ugh you people. I'm not a fan of IGN either but yall look pretty pathetic to me. Last time I checked a 5 means mid. Not bad, mid. I've seen quite a few people call this game just that. Mid. I'm legit ignoring TH-cam chat for tge remainder of my life. Yall should follow suit with IGN reviews but I bet money you all will keep checking them.
Ive played many other Mario & Luigi games and it seems Brothership takes after Dream Team which is infamous for its hours of Tutorials however Dream Team lightens up with the Tutorials further into the game although its very long, many of these Criticisms are things that also Apply to Dream Team particularly because of its Dream world mechanics and such but i imagine Brothership will have a Fantastic Mid-game
Another part that makes Dream Team longer is the filler progression. You can't skip any of theae padding stuff or else your stuck trying to figure out how to progress. They should've been either optional for side quest or not be there at all. And combined with unskippable tutorials, Dream Team really drags the game down.
It has been very chill with tutorials for a Mario and Luigi game, I’ll take a character saying “Hey! Use the + button, it brings up a map!” Rather then a complete breakdown of what every menu does like in other games in the series.
@DareDevil_00I Yeah, after replaying superstar saga recently I’ve noticed how excruciatingly long the tutorials are, like they’ll give you a 5 minute semi-skippable cutscene to teach you how to use a new bros action. Maybe they’re not that bad but like it’s still a problem how in depth they go.
Ngl I can't tell whose side your if any, but I'd say both sides are pretty ignorant. While I disagree with a lot of ign's takes, I still look at their reviews because like it or not, they still give different perspectives that should at least be heard out.
@@dugtrioramen Well, IGN pretty much did that to themselves... multiple times! And that by rating a lot of games good, that are objectively bad. Notice something here?
@@dugtrioramen we’re just being doubtful, because ign completely misses the point for so many reviews in my opinion, so was this one really gonna be that different? Also, I’ve played the game for about 5-6 ish hours and the game is nothing like they’ve described it in my opinion. I’ve been having an amazing time, and the only real criticism they have that I can at least someeeewhat agree with, although for different reasons, is that Luigi was more annoying than fun to use, but I see it slightly different, I just wish that Luigi was more manually controlled, like this video says, and not just for Luigi logic and stuff, even for small things like jumps, Luigi just clears them on his own and if you try to manually clear them, he just jumps in place, not even letting you manually do jumps, which is kinda sad, but other than that I’ve had none of the issues that ign was stating.
In past games they normally make the player switch between the bros if they have to be separated I’m surprised it’s different in this game with the way Luigi is controlled
Im about 6 hours in and i think lengthy dialogue is to be expected since thats just how an rpg and this series goes, the hand holding i dont feel like has been over the top, nothing really comes up until theres a new thing to learn, i havent seen any choppiness or anything personally, overall the art, vibe, and gameplay has been great, love it so far
As a person who has played all of the M&L games, I think my main gripe with the game is the lack of bosses when pulling the plug on the islands. In the previous games when you get to such points, you always had boss or some type of minigame to face.
2:11 - The main issue is that the game has poor frame-pacing, which causes it to look choppier than it actually is. The actual fps, at least in the 1st few hours that I've seen, has been pretty solid at 30 aside from that issue. Echoes of Wisdom is a completely different issue though, it aims for 60fps but will drop down to 30 when it has trouble with something. That's a more serious and noticeable problem. It likely would've been better if they just capped it to 30 so it wouldn't take such massive hits.
I agree with the issue about Echoes of Wisdom's performance. If I remember correctly, Link's Awakening also had that issue. Hopefully they run better on the next switch system.
i am really far in the game around 40h, been doing all the side quests, i kinda like them even tho they are rather on the simpler side. I feel like game is getting better the more you play it and then you kinda forget about the issues because you are adjusting to them in a way. Even tho this game felt more like "Mario and Luigi's logic" at first rather than equally "mario and luigi", it seems like more of luigi is shown in the game, his character is pretty elevated here to the point mario feels like just some character you are moving around where luigi is more of a center, especially shows in animations/cutscenes, luigi's logic poppin at your face whenever he comes up with some new ability or solution, mario just feels kinda like mario alyways had felt like, which is perfect flawless hero, what more do i expect his character to be? When you stand for a while in the game, luigi starts roaming around and observing stuff but mario just stands there. I conclusion i notice Luigi in the game more than mario even tho i literally move him around.
I do have some problems with the game. Like you said, the first boss is way too late. Music is not as memorable as the previous games, but that's just me and the tutorials on how to play the game is pretty underwhelming especially for someone who has played the previous Mario and Luigi games.
IGNorant gave BO6 a 9/10 because the developers gave them $5M to do so. They always give them money so the game will get a 9 or higher. This is not a myth, it's true!

@firenze6478 I don't agree. Dream Team has the worst pacing out of all the Mario & Luigi game. It also throws in alot of unnecessary padding stuff that is filler rather than being optional for side quest or not be there at all and the filler parts aren't that good. The battles are incredibly sluggish, the Dreamy World & Dreamy Luigi are underwhelming & laughably easy and the game tries to capture the same magic as Bowser's Inside Story in terms of it's structure & layout; only with Luigi, but it was an wasted potential & nowhere near as good as BIS. Because of it's wasted potential and how incredibly handholding it is, the game lacks alot of replay value.
@ I agree with it failing to capture bis full magic, but again, the tutorials were just as bad in bis, also requiring to say no 2-3 times. Idk, maybe I need to replay it again but I found the combat more satisfying than bis, minus no playable bowser, since the bros have unique attacks in this one. Also, I found antasma and the lore of p’illo island really interesting. Though on hard, dreamy bowser can soft lock you with endless heals becoming a painful dps check. I liked the dream world more than inside bowser, but bis had better minigames. It did slow down with much of the plot chasing and failing to catch antasma, but bis also had the star cure lock away bowser section which was my least favorite filler section.
