That’s how they do it though to keep the animal from thrashing around and hurting itself. Llamas and alpacas attack each others legs when they fight so to keep the alpacas calm and still they tie them.

This guy is really slow at shearing. If they are just doing this for the fur,it doesn't have to be perfect the less time the less stress on the animal. But then again I have never sheared one😅
When it's time for my next haircut, can I come over and lie down? I don't have quite as fluffy wool, but I have plenty. I'm just very ticklish when the machine runs over my back...

That's what I was wondering. A lot of shearing shorts have been popping up lately and I haven't seen anyone tie their animals up like that. Maybe it's a schooling or trying g to teach them so they dont get hurt but I hope these animals don't have to go thru that every time they are sheared. I see right choice shearing shear all kinds amd haven't seen them tie any up like this one.
The scream in the back is a Llama who was not pleased being picked up and put in the ropes, however he is not in pain. The 8-10 minutes of discomfort in the ropes is a necessary procedure to protect them from the summer heat.

Humans have bred and curated these animals for 100s of years to produce a fleece that is usable. It is proper livestock management to shear them on a yearly basis and we as the shearers do our best to make the process as efficient, comfortable, safe, and have them looking great when they’re done.

They have to do it that way. Those animals are too flexible to sit them up like sheep to shear. They also can't shear standing because of height. Those shearers work fast. They care about those animals!

These farms would not be paying if we were doing it wrong. So please save me the bullshit, I work in the industry not you.
