As far as who made the music, it was Jonghyun, not alone obviously, he worked with various producers, but he was part of the production teams. And on your point about the live band, Jonghyun wouldve agreed, he preferred performing with live instruments, cause for him it was music coming to life. theres a lot to be said about this album, but Im really glad you decided to go with lyrics videos, cause I think his music really deserves it, theres a lot of songs I didnt quite get on first listen but seeing the lyrics and/or lives really gave the song depth to fall in love.

Jonghyun was even a host of SNL during his solo promotions for this album. When SHINee did solo activities Jonghyun focused on his songwriting and composing, that is why he is one of the most prolific and well respected idol singer/songwriters. Jonghyun's lack of appearances as a cast member of variety shows or as an actor in TV shows or movies, etc. was one of the things that people always questioned him about. It was strange to people, as an idol, that we rarely saw him promoting outside of his solo comeback or as a member of SHINee. However, what most people forgot to take into consideration was that Jonghyun was super involved behind the scenes in the studio, constantly participating in project after project, writing and composing music. That is where he chose to spend his time. People just never saw how busy he really was.
The way I gasped !!! Although his entire discography is immaculate, She Is is my favorite Jonghyun album, I'm just so obsessed with it 😍 His Storytelling is quite good, how the album takes you through the relationship, from the first eye contact (Jjong thinks eye contact is the most intimate romantic connection), him longing for his love , then the pasison of the relationship, and then...sex(y) time 😅 Plus, he wrote all the lyrics, co-composed 8 of the songs (excepr White T-Shirt I think) and was also of the production, which was a huuuge step for a SM artist

jonghyun's music just hits different. i fell in love with funk and jazz because of his work. the She Is album is perfect, he is perfect, an absolutely talented man.
This is honestly one of the best albums that I have ever heard, especially coming from Kpop. Might very well be my favorite solo act. 'She Is' is timeless, unique and authentic to Jjong. It's a masterpiece from start to finish and basically every song is a title track material. It's amazing how genre-wise every song is so different but yet still has this very cohesive vibe and makes sense put together as an album. Except for White T-Shirt, Jonghyun co-composed all of the songs on the album, with some different producers and often with a group of his old time friends that go by the name 'WeFreaky'. Not to mention all of the vocal runs, different variations and techniques that almost makes it sound like there's different people singing every song. I really recommend checking out that Orbit live! The more you listen the better these songs get, because yeah some might be a lot to handle at first. There are pretty good quality fan cams for Moon, Cocktail, Dress Up and Suit Up that are also a must (there's a short one for RED). And lastly he did a showcase event for this album with Minho as the mc, Key and Taemin also make a guest appearance and so he performed short versions of every song there with full White T-Shirt and She Is. Aaahh it's been a minute since I've listened to this album! When it came out I had not dyed my hair in like five years but he was so passionate about having pink hair I had to copy him haha. There are some kermit photos in the album and they're my favourite lol. He did quite a few performances of White T Shirt on music shows. He kept trying to gift Taemin Cocktail for his album but he wouldn't because it was "too hard to sing" which... Fair ahaha.
He didn't "kept" trying... He did give Taemin two options, cocktail and Already. Taemin chose already, Jonghyun then kept teasing Taemin about not being sure of giving him "already"...
Thank you for reacting to Jjong's album. To answer your question earlier, no, Jonghyun is not an actor. As an old Blinger (Jonghyun fan) I do not think acting is meant for him. His calling will always be in his singing, music writing, creation, production, etc. If you see that he has the charisma on the stage that is because his persona is for the stage, if it is for his music, yes. You can believe that he is the actor but you can only see it while he is performing on stage. I remember during their debut SM has this idea to promote Jonghyun as the bad boy vibe in the group but he is not. It clashes with his personality. In truth Jonghyun is the dutiful son and brother who loves and adores his mother and sister. A lot of people associate Jjong's intense energy while performing with his bad boy image. In reality it is how he live through his music without being suck out by his depression. Jonghyun probably would have been a great actor but I am glad he is not. I remember during View era there was an interview and Jonghyun told that all his members have experience in acting and he didn't look into the camera to talk about his own experience. In a subtle way he kept on eating his noodle. Minho came to his rescue and told him that 'you were the best'. I feel like Minho realise Jjong's discomfort in expressing it. Jonghyun is not fond of cameras. It is a known fact. Jonghyun was saying 'I only showed my back' and Minho told him to show the camera his gorgeous back. I visited Seoul in July 2016, just a couple of months after She Is was released. It was lovely to just walk into stores, coffee shops and restaurants and hear all the songs from this album played by radio stations all over the city.
He wrote all songs and composed everything except White T-shirt. You should watch Orbit live stage, it's so good! I wasn't really feeling that song at first and now it's one of my favorites His Poet|Artist (2018) album is also very good, if you want more dancy and upbeat music as you said

This whole album is EPIC. My favorite tracks are MOON and COCKTAIL 😊😊 I remember that COCKTAIL was supposed to be sang by Taemin. If I remember correctly Taemin was to choose between ALREADY and COCKTAIL, he chose ALREADY because the range of COCKTAIL is too high for him hehe. Btw both of these songs were written by Jonghyun. You might want to check ALREADY, that song is super good as well 😊😊

I don't think he was acting or it had anything to do with acting in terms of his expressions and stage presence. Jonghyun always feels the songs that he performs to the fullest and is just a master at conveying the emotions that are real to him. One of the greatest stage presence and charisma ever that's for sure. Although I find him very funny and cute at some acting skits that he did and just in general, but he has stated himself that acting was never somehing he wanted to pursue, he's all about writing/composing music and performing that's his true passion.
I was new to k-pop six months ago, stumbled across Moon, had a very "Oh my god who *is* that? I need more" reaction to Jonghyun's voice and ended up changed forever by his music and artistry and passion. I alternate favorites (still learning his songs, too, and still finding covers he sang, still digging up various performances). Take The Dive and Fine are a couple of my current faves. The thing about Jonghyun playing his voice like an instrument - I've come to the conclusion that it isn't just a single instrument but a jazz trio, a string quartet, a rock band - an entire orchestra. That the same person could sing Hyeya, Dress Up, White T-shirt, Elevator, Moon, Diphylleia Grayi - among others, and not to mention his work with Shinee - and perform all of those very, very different songs so gorgeously, as if he were born to sing each particular song... he continually blows my mind.
Yes, Suit Up is about their wedding night. It was absolutely hilarious how Jonghyun got so shy when explaining this song during his showcase. The other members were so flustered and sweating too lmaooo.
Yayyyyyy! So Suit Up (well and Let Me Out) is my fave Jjong song everrrrrr. Its really the adlibs at the end that get me lol. This album defined 2016 for me it was on repeat the entire second half of the year. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah so especially because Moon was one of your favorites... you know you gotta watch the live performance. It's already a smooth and sexy song but nothing beats Jjong's live vocals and dancing. It's honestly one of my favorite things about his (and Taemin's) solo music, just this unashamed and straightforward sensualness. Like there are many lyrics in this album that are very in your face with "I'm talking about sex here!" especially culminating in the last song with Suit Up and it's just something that's really refreshing to see an idol do. When so much of the industry promotes these people as sex objects for money but doesn't allow them to talk about sex or even dating, it really can seem like there's a huge disconnect there and this album really feels transgressive in that Jonghyun isn't just being sexy but is really celebrating sex itself as a normal part of life and a relationship.

Cocktail gives you those 00s vibes because Jonghyun wrote it in collaboration with a producer (whose name scapes me right now sorry!) that worked with many r&b artists like Usher and Mariah Carey. Also this song was supposed to be for Taemin, Jonghyun wrote it for him but he said he couldn't reach comfortably the key because it was so high, so he just kept Already, another song that jjong wrote for him lol.

I visited Seoul in July 2016, just a couple of months after She Is was released. It was lovely to just walk into stores, coffee shops and restaurants and hear all the songs from this album played by radio stations all over the city.
He wrote all songs and composed everything except White T-shirt. You should watch Orbit live stage, it's so good! I wasn't really feeling that song at first and now it's one of my favorites
His Poet|Artist (2018) album is also very good, if you want more dancy and upbeat music as you said
Also not sure if it was mentioned yet but he was HEAVILY involved in 99% of this album. I think the only song he didn’t write the lyrics for was white t shirt, and he composed almost al of them too I believe.
Other way around :) He wrote the lyrics to the entire album himself and participated in composing all songs excpet White Tshirt. BTW, he's listed first for all the songs he co-composed, which means he was the main composer.

This whole album is EPIC. My favorite tracks are MOON and COCKTAIL 😊😊 I remember that COCKTAIL was supposed to be sang by Taemin. If I remember correctly Taemin was to choose between ALREADY and COCKTAIL, he chose ALREADY because the range of COCKTAIL is too high for him hehe. Btw both of these songs were written by Jonghyun. You might want to check ALREADY, that song is super good as well 😊😊
I am so glad Taemin didn't chose Cocktail (more than the range, I think he wasn't ready for the lyrics and meaning) that song was made to be sing by Jonghyun (because of its range and meaning)

I don't think he was acting or it had anything to do with acting in terms of his expressions and stage presence. Jonghyun always feels the songs that he performs to the fullest and is just a master at conveying the emotions that are real to him. One of the greatest stage presence and charisma ever that's for sure. Although I find him very funny and cute at some acting skits that he did and just in general, but he has stated himself that acting was never somehing he wanted to pursue, he's all about writing/composing music and performing that's his true passion.

I was new to k-pop six months ago, stumbled across Moon, had a very "Oh my god who *is* that? I need more" reaction to Jonghyun's voice and ended up changed forever by his music and artistry and passion.
I alternate favorites (still learning his songs, too, and still finding covers he sang, still digging up various performances). Take The Dive and Fine are a couple of my current faves.
The thing about Jonghyun playing his voice like an instrument - I've come to the conclusion that it isn't just a single instrument but a jazz trio, a string quartet, a rock band - an entire orchestra. That the same person could sing Hyeya, Dress Up, White T-shirt, Elevator, Moon, Diphylleia Grayi - among others, and not to mention his work with Shinee - and perform all of those very, very different songs so gorgeously, as if he were born to sing each particular song... he continually blows my mind.

Yayyyyyy! So Suit Up (well and Let Me Out) is my fave Jjong song everrrrrr. Its really the adlibs at the end that get me lol. This album defined 2016 for me it was on repeat the entire second half of the year. Glad you enjoyed it.
Listening to this album first and Base later is definitely better. If I'm to think about it this is probably my favourite album of any korean soloist at all, every song is just amazing and the VIBES oh my... as always I got so excited when I saw the video because you're my favourite SHINee reactor so lots and lots of love for you
With Jonghyun I really can’t pick my favorite album. Even tho I’m not a ballad fan, I still thinks his two Story Op are masterpieces. His albums have been evolving, talking about deeper and diverse stuff.

Yeah so especially because Moon was one of your favorites... you know you gotta watch the live performance. It's already a smooth and sexy song but nothing beats Jjong's live vocals and dancing. It's honestly one of my favorite things about his (and Taemin's) solo music, just this unashamed and straightforward sensualness. Like there are many lyrics in this album that are very in your face with "I'm talking about sex here!" especially culminating in the last song with Suit Up and it's just something that's really refreshing to see an idol do. When so much of the industry promotes these people as sex objects for money but doesn't allow them to talk about sex or even dating, it really can seem like there's a huge disconnect there and this album really feels transgressive in that Jonghyun isn't just being sexy but is really celebrating sex itself as a normal part of life and a relationship.
(Also rewatch the She Is MV and try to count all the visual innuendos, it's lots of fun)

Yay! Jonghyun's solo, legit my favorite soloist in Shinee. White t-shirt is legit one of my favorites in She Is, Jonghyun went on full-blown flirty mode during those performances. My second favorite would be Orbit, you can check the live ver. on your own. Having jonghyun staring at you while serenading orbit is not healthy for poor shawol's heart.

Jjong said in a past interview he wrote this whole album with a character in mind specifically describing them as "an amusing, attractive young man who is sometimes up to mischief" imo similar to an alter ego like Nicki Minaj and Roman

Cocktail was a song he made for Taemin at first with Already but Taemin explained he didn't kept the song Cocktail *I think in the same show* he said he couldn't sing that song at that moment because it was a very difficult song and Already was difficult to start with and Jonghyun was the producer of the songs and Taemin said that Jonghyun was very demanding when he was working on the songs lol
Jonghyun said in an interview that he is never happy with a result more or less being good, maybe it is good for someone but not for him, he always tries to go further which was the only way for him overcome himself and bring something new

Cocktail gives you those 00s vibes because Jonghyun wrote it in collaboration with a producer (whose name scapes me right now sorry!) that worked with many r&b artists like Usher and Mariah Carey. Also this song was supposed to be for Taemin, Jonghyun wrote it for him but he said he couldn't reach comfortably the key because it was so high, so he just kept Already, another song that jjong wrote for him lol.
