Somehow I got a free ticket and went with a friend. I fell in love with her that night. Tiny show with a few hundred people, but maybe my best concert ever?
I've seen Joan Jett in concert, nearly everytime she came to Michigan. I would rather see her shows in smaller casinos, parks, etc....up close & personal, than the stadium tour she did. I saw her play in 2008. She was a trooper, it was an outdoor venue in Edmonton Alberta, Canada, and it was raining, at one point being a downpour. Except for her pointing out the moisture was messing up her guitar's tuning, she and her band carried on, for the full set, and did a good show
I saw her at Penn State around 1988-89? I was SO excited. She’s a great role model for women. Unfortunately, some idiot threw something at her face (I think a beer bottle). I was literally ten feet away from her. She, rightfully so, said F this(or similar), kicked some stage equipment, and left the stage. It was the most disappointing thing for me. I never did get to see her again. But keep rocking Joan, you are awesome!
That might have been the concert that caused her to have the permanent bloodspot on her eye- though I've heard it was jewelry that hit her in the eye someone threw, she got injured, and left the stage.
She is an amazing woman & ROCK STAR. She really cleared the way for other women musicians. And screw those 23 labels, who didn't have the courage to stand behind her,🤬🤬🤬👿
I had always loved Joan Jett!! My sister bought us tickets to see The Police at Shea Stadium. Reo Speedwagon played too. BUT!!!! Joan Jett and the Black Hearts opened the show!!! They were great! We were so happy to have gotten to see them. Joan Jett rocked that show!!!! Amazing!!! One of my favorite concert performances. In the mid 1980s I had two kids. A daughter and a young son. "I Love Rock N Roll" came on the radio and I was holding my son and my daughter and I were singing to the song rather loudly and I started rocking my son to the best and singing! A happy funny moment! We all giggled. Great time! Love you Joan Jett!;♥️♥️♥️♥️
Joan Jett is an amazing testament to strength. Refusing to stop despite the horrible way she was treated. The tragedy is all those losers in the audiences, record companies and music press who tried to tear her apart. Her life shows f them! I hope they lived through her success to see how they were the losers
She opened for The Police here in St. Louis. The arena was packed. Granted ... the pairing was a bit odd ... or so it seemed at the time but she rocked! Nice show.
That must've been awesome. I think pairings like that could actually benefit the artist since people that probably wouldn't consider listening to a certain artist would get a taste and find they enjoyed it.
Classy, true to herself & refuses to wallow in the mud to blame others or attempt to uplift herself! Her music speaks for itself. That's Joan Jett, that's integrity, that's class! The greatest artists have never turned to drama to acclaim some fame. Joan Jett is an example of one of the greats!
Joan Jett is not simply a musician. There's something called geo-politics. During the last part of the Cold War, Joan and the b.h.s did a gig in East Germany. The gates went down and the commissars couldn't control the crowd. SO, in my mind, she deserves an award for helping the Berlin Wall go down. Hint hint, Powers that be. Pennsylvania has the highest density of German-Americans and the Kecksburg Bell flew in from 1944 in 1965, so they say. Love you, Joan, I do r&b be a little. Thanks for the positive attitude and helping change this sorry-assed excuse for a world.
I loved the movie Light Of Day. I think people trashed it because no one could bring themselves to see her as an actress. To them she was "just a musician". I thought she did a fantastic job in that movie!
saw her on TV few yrs. ago, her voice sounded hoarse and strained--she is 60, and I'm amazed her body has lasted this long --she has lived hard-wish her well
Joan's video version of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" she is incredibly beautiful! Couldn't care less that she bats usually for the other team, Joan is wonderful.
Tragic implies an ending of a sort. I'd say she's a survivor of extreme hard knocks, but, still performing, being true to herself, and, rocking it her way. Go Joan! 👏❤️
You can tell this amazing women absolutely loves what she was doing. I'm so glad she remained strong throughout her career persevering through so much negativity.
I saw Joan Jett for the 2nd time 2 years ago, and she was just as good as when I saw her in the early 90s. She is amazing on stage, and still sings great!!!
The original line up was Joan Jett, Sandy West, and Mickie Steel(who later became the bassist, singer, and songwriter for The Bangles). Also, “Light Of Day” was such an amazing movie!
@Diana Moore I never saw that one I will definitely have to check it out. Today I got my haircut and the hairdresser said I looked like Joan Jett LOL when I lived in England when I was 16 they used to call me Joan Jett
I saw Joan Jett with the fabulous Thunderbirds in the early '80s and it was probably one of the best concerts and best two bands I've ever seen in concert! It was right here in PA
How's it that not telling people/ strangers about your sexual preferences an insult? I'd rather not know. Its none of my business nor anyone else's, unless I'm pursuing you or you me.
The reason it's an insult is because the world has gone crazy, where up is down and left is right. If you're anything but straight and white, you're supposed to shove it in everyone's face. Didn't you get the memo?
GOTTA have nothing but RESPECT for Joanie! 1 of the hardest working and rocking ladies in music! Can't believe people used to abuse them on stage and spit on them, bloody disgusting! PROUD my country welcomed the Runaways with open arms & treated them like the rock STARS they were!
5:57 When the camera is looking at the jukebox, and she steps into the frame...way too close for anyone else, but for her...it was ...that moment when she grabbed you...wow, what a woman...so many of us found her irresistible....danger + lust/love = magnetism.
Kim Vincent Fowley (July 21, 1939 - January 15, 2015) was an American record producer, singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for his role behind a string of novelty and cult pop rock singles in the 1960s, and for managing the Runaways in the 1970s. He has been described as "one of the most colorful characters in the annals of rock & roll", as well as "a shadowy cult figure well outside the margins of the mainstream".[1] Born in Los Angeles, California, United States,[2] Fowley was the son of character actor Douglas Fowley and actress Shelby Payne.[3] His parents later divorced and Payne married William Friml, son of composer Rudolf Friml.[4] Fowley attended University High School at the same time as singers Jan Berry and Dean Torrence (later of Jan and Dean fame), Bruce Johnston (later of the Beach Boys), and Nancy Sinatra, as well as actors Ryan O'Neal, James Brolin, and Sandra Dee.

Her version of Little Drummer Boy is incredible!!
I’ve had a crush on Joan Jett.Since I started hearing her songs.Even after I heard she’s a lesbian.
She has had relationships with guys tho
@@lightasmr6623 maybe shes bisexual
You missed a few albums. Specifically Sinner. Where she covered the Sweet song "a.c.d.c" and killed it! Great video for the song too
She is an amazing woman & ROCK STAR.
I have never been able to get Joan Jett out of my mind. Love is like that.
Suzi Quatro isn't British. She's from Detroit, Michigan. And Joan Jett's tale is one of triumph, not tragedy.
I love Joan Jett. Always have always will. She is a true rockstar! Loved this video!
She did,is, and will always be my rock and roll queen.
Wasn't Quatro was from Detroit? She interviewed Rick Wakeman once, her speaking voice was defiantly American.
Yes she is from Detroit; Other than Stumblin with Chris Norman she only had one top 40 hit in the U.S where instead she was huge in the U.K.
Yes she's America
I still have her on cassette tape!🔥
Pamela Shore Shexhad success in the U.K. rather than her homeland , she has lived in the U.K. for many Decades
Suzy gained far more popularity in the UK than she ever had here both in music, films and TV.
What doesn’t kill only makes you stronger. Joan Jett is tough as nails and a huge inspiration to many 🤟🏼🤘🏻👏
Joan Jett is not simply a musician.
I got to see the Runaway's in Tempe, AZ. at Dooley's! Ian Dury, Runaway's and Elvis Costello. Was a great time!
I loved the movie Light Of Day. I think people trashed it because no one could bring themselves to see her as an actress. To them she was "just a musician". I thought she did a fantastic job in that movie!
Cause she isn't acting, its not a stretch if your pretending to be someone like yourself, critics were right btw
Agreed!
She's been one of my girl power icons since 4th grade! She will always ROCK!!!
Used to see Joan in the local bars on Long Island. She's cool as hell and down to earth .She saved a kid from drowning while at the beach.
saw her on TV few yrs. ago, her voice sounded hoarse and strained--she is 60, and I'm amazed her body has lasted this long --she has lived hard-wish her well
Joan's video version of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" she is incredibly beautiful!
Couldn't care less that she bats usually for the other team, Joan is wonderful.
She’s bi, hence “All inclusive”.
i don't get this title- Tragic Details About Joan Jett? .... she's a triumph (probably knows how to ride one too!)
I thought she had died after reading the title
It's typical Americanism. Just lie to get attention or to sell something.
She is an icon and the ‘queen of cover songs’
Thanks for keeping us up dated with old days❤️
Tragic implies an ending of a sort. I'd say she's a survivor of extreme hard knocks, but, still performing, being true to herself, and, rocking it her way. Go Joan! 👏❤️
She rocks this woman. She is drop dead gorgeous too.
You can tell this amazing women absolutely loves what she was doing. I'm so glad she remained strong throughout her career persevering through so much negativity.
She’s the reason I wanted to learn guitar.
I love the Bangles too.
I love Joan Jett!!
How's it going with Zedella ? Hope you're fine? That's my daughter on profile.
Im good,shes beautiful!!
She rocks enough said!
'nuff said! Lol
I loved the Runaways, they were one of my favorite bands. Joan Jett is really great.
Have you ever seen the movie foxes? It has cherri in it great movie
@Diana Moore that was such a great movie and a great book
@Diana Moore I never saw that one I will definitely have to check it out. Today I got my haircut and the hairdresser said I looked like Joan Jett LOL when I lived in England when I was 16 they used to call me Joan Jett
I saw Joan Jett with the fabulous Thunderbirds in the early '80s and it was probably one of the best concerts and best two bands I've ever seen in concert! It was right here in PA
Love her and her music, great video thanks 🖤
How's it that not telling people/ strangers about your sexual preferences an insult? I'd rather not know. Its none of my business nor anyone else's, unless I'm pursuing you or you me.
How's it going with you Charlotte? Hope you're fine... that's my daughter on profile.
@@dannycharles1396 ,🙂shes beautiful!
@@charlottewhite1277 I'm glad you like her, Charlotte, where are you originally from? I'm originally from NC.... it's a pleasure meeting you.
The reason it's an insult is because the world has gone crazy, where up is down and left is right. If you're anything but straight and white, you're supposed to shove it in everyone's face. Didn't you get the memo?
I wouldn't hold it against her.....whatever her preferences.......
I saw Joan Jett a couple of years ago. Not a lot of “show” but a lot of in your face rock and roll. She killed it!
Kim Vincent Fowley (July 21, 1939 - January 15, 2015) was an American record producer, singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for his role behind a string of novelty and cult pop rock singles in the 1960s, and for managing the Runaways in the 1970s. He has been described as "one of the most colorful characters in the annals of rock & roll", as well as "a shadowy cult figure well outside the margins of the mainstream".[1]
Born in Los Angeles, California, United States,[2] Fowley was the son of character actor Douglas Fowley and actress Shelby Payne.[3] His parents later divorced and Payne married William Friml, son of composer Rudolf Friml.[4] Fowley attended University High School at the same time as singers Jan Berry and Dean Torrence (later of Jan and Dean fame), Bruce Johnston (later of the Beach Boys), and Nancy Sinatra, as well as actors Ryan O'Neal, James Brolin, and Sandra Dee.
He was a real piece of shit.
