Honestly, it's just so DOPE to see Rican food be highlighted in this way. Puerto Rican food is without a doubt one the most underrated cuisines out there. It could go toe to toe with any cuisine out there and most definitely hold its own. Listen, if you're talking about amazing food from all over, Puerto Rico better damn well be in the conversation. We're talking about a cuisine that stretches across the entire culinary spectrum. It can go from the best comfort food you've ever had all the way to michelin star level. Listen, make it a point to experience this food, at least once in your life. Although, if you do have it once, that won't be the last time you have it. I promise you that.
I love Puerto Rico, because it gave me the love of my life. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I got married in Puerto Rico alot of my In laws live there. I have been taught to make alot of puerto rican food. My I. Laws live 2 blocks from porky point. I love eating there
@pat shermer I'm Irish and German and not that it matters but puerto rican food is better than Mexican food. Originally from north philly. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and has different taste for different food
@pat shermer nope you didn't offend me at all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Its ok I don't like Vietnamese food or Greek foodand Mexican food is ok. Chinese is my favorite I could eat it everyday. It ok disagree.
@pat shermer
You're*
@pat shermer Jewish is not ca race.....
I am 47 and when I was like 5 my dad knew the owner. My dad would take me to eat there ever Saturday. We always went to the kitchen were I would always get an alcaparra and a potato ball with gravy freshly made. Their food has been amazingly phenomenal for years…..
Thanks fpr sharing the memory
Potato ball aka relleno de papa y’all true Rican know what I’m talking bout
When I see people calling it Pastelillos instead of empanadas it puts a big smile on my face. I grew up saying Pastelillos and not Empanadas. For me Empanadas are baked and not fried but that is my opnion. Malta goya for the win everything looked so good. Love being Puerto Rican. But I dont eat fried food everyday.
Na you right lol pastelios and empanadais are different real Puerto Rican’s know that lol so so salute 👌🏽
For me empanadilla are de carne pizza pollo.... Pastelillos are like de guayava de queso n est....
@jahi zenon respect from Philly
What’s up?
🤣🤣🤣
As far as I’m concerned , Puerto Rican food is the best food on planet EARTH. Love our Puerto Rican people.
? Looking for a Boricua to eat some time 😋 🤔 about chula🙃😉
Siempre adelante, Boricuas! This food is so underrated and so damn good. Thanks, JL, for checking it out.
Been looking for this place for decades. Ate here once when I was a kid, food was crazy!!!! As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I got hyped. Definitely going back asap
Ayeee that’s what up!!
5th st right off of Pike 1 STOP SIGN FROM 5TH N ERIE. ENJOY 😉😋 #CITYOFBROTHERLYLOVE&SISTALYEFFECTION #PEACEBLESSINGSLOVESTRENGTH&CHEERS
That pork sandwich is legit! Making my mouth water all the way here in Los Angeles, California USA 🇺🇸.
Thats dope af bro
It looks like a busy place, but worth the trip, 👍
As a native Puerto Rican I can tell all the food, besides the BBQ sauce on the pork sandwich, is authentic and true to the island's cuisine. Alcapurrias are bomb and they hit different when they're stuffed with crab meat🤤
The crabmeat ones are my favorite, and when I go to the island that's my first stop after I land. My chicharron the Bayamón and my crabmeat alcapurrias, 😋👍🇵🇷
So true bout bbq sauce
🇵🇷 Anyone from La Isla out there??? This place is giving me Bebos BBQ by the airport vibes!!!
LGA-SJU ✈️ 💃🏿🕺🏿
I drove an hour and a half to get here. Wow this food was amazing. The pork is so tender and juicy and that extra skin was so good! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I also had rice and beans which was well seasoned. I also enjoyed my first beef patty which was good. I’m impressed and the workers were friendly and the food was fresh! The price was affordable. I’ll definitely be back!!!
The cars honking is nothing new in north philly, they don’t even phase me anymore 😂 I passed by this place so many times almost my whole life and I never once stopped by but maybe after watching this I’ll have to stop by
I was introduced to the rice and roast chicken...
OMG Southside of Milwaukee in the 70's/80's✌🏽😎💯
My girl is Puerto Rican and Ive had all that, minis the pig ear dish. Bro, I hope you didn't have to drive far after this filming! That's coma food😂
Oh he got the itis fasho!
It's okay man, she didn't mean to hit you
I here ya... its true it happened to me 😁😁😁🤣🤣🇵🇷🔥👍
I was waiting for my dad to pass behind you or something, lol. He lives on the right side of Porky's(across the street). But yeah, their food is delicious! Glad you were able to dabble in the variety of treats there. Much respect to you, bro. Continue what you're doing and stay safe. Peace.
Puerto Rican in the house will definitely try it out ❤️❤️❤️
It's not worth it anymore go to Tony's place
The food is so freaking delicious
Man!!!its about time someone comes to the puertican spot !! I've been trying to tell Mark weins he should go to Puerto Rico to represent our food our culture...
He was just in Philly a couple weeks ago too.
Mark was not going to go anywhere thats in the hood. If you saw the cheesesteak episode he didn't take him to Max's or any of the great spots in the hood
Your not lying. I got married in Puerto Rico my in laws live there. We go every other year. The food is amazing. I do go to porky point often. I have family that live 2 blocks from there
@@king_tony215 i don't blame him
Salute to you thanks for showing love 🇵🇷✊🏽
Freddy and Tony’s also good spot
The one on front and Clearfield... not 2nd and Allegany...
Note that they only take cash, at least back when I went there years ago.
I personally like Freddy and Tony’s better, more flavor in my opinion. I’ve had food from here before. How about also checking out El Coqui & Freddy & Tony next?!
I was Born, Bred, and Raised in North Philthy ... Porky's Point is a LEGENDARY establishment in the City, and the BEST at what they do ... PERIOD.
Thank you for enjoying and highlighting our delicious Puerto Rican food...If more people only knew how good it is...Not from Philly but a Puerto Rican from Chicago...Truly appreciated this video...🙏
Saludos. Boricua aquí también.
I don't get to go to Porky's as often as I would like but it has great food.
I always wanted to try an original jibarito sandwich from Humboldt Park.
🇵🇷👍
JL Porky's Point is the spot in Philly. I lived up the end of 5th street by the Reservoir. I use to go there at least once a week. And when I worked at the Mini storage at Wayne Junction we would call in orders for lunch. They usually don't take orders over the phone but a buddy who worked with me his cousin was working there at the time. We could only do it on slow day because we were done afterwards. We all needed a nap after eating all that food as you know lol. It was cool seeing you showing Mark around Philly. Philly is a great food city I miss it for that. I'm in Florida now and there's just certain foods from up north you can't find down here. Or their version of the foods don't even come close to what you get in Philly or up north.
Man…that pork sandwich was fire!
When the meat outweighs the bread.
AMAZING BRO!!!!
Good food. My favorite is roast pork, arroz gandules with beans on top.😁
Haven't been here since the early nineties, great memories
Yea I've been goin there since my high school Edison days im now 36 yrs old I always love porky points and the food be on point everytime 👌🏾💯
I’ve been going to Porkys Points for at least 45 years! Always on point with the Puerto Rican Flava! Yumm I hungry now! I need to come home. 😋 🤤

PUERTO RICAN FOOD IS THE BEST!!!!

LmfaoooOoooo 🤣🤣🤣
My two favorite reasons for driving into Philly… My barber is on 5th. And Porky’s is 5 minutes away!!
At the minimum I always get an order of mofongo and an order of pig ears… okay, I get the pork with onions also!!
Great spot for breakfast and lunch. Never disappoints. Never any complaints.
Always seasoned to perfection...
Cuisine is banging!!!😍
Power to the people....
One time I was in the market and I saw a Puerto Rican lady down the seasoning isle I literally stood there watching her and putting every seasoning in my cart that she put in her cart...LOL I love PR cuisines. Btw, I'm from Philly although I don't eat pork that looking at that pork sandwich making me rethink that...lol #thisjawnfromPhilly
I’m from Jersey but I live in Colorado. The closet I come to anything like this is in my dreams.
Thanks for shouting out my food and people..much respect🇵🇷🇵🇷

Porky’s is cool but while you’re at it. You gotta hit up Freddy & Tony’s on Front St.
If you like dinner for breakfast you need to try La Fogata at 196 w Duncannon st phila. Open 5.30am to 3pm. Get there early they run out food 10.
I congratulate you my friend JL For you for steppin into a puertoriquen food joint ..im also a boricua actually living here on my island and just seeing you eat and smiling after every bite or every spoonful of rice, its a just so a being proud feelin of my puertoriquen people making a living and satisfing other people taste palets with our authentic foods that is garenantee to bring out a smile to anybody who really appreciate a good meal...and although through out the years new food combinations are actually being made and i know its also a game changer...thanks a million for putting out there our food traditions and giving us a ...O'Yeah this is it! to everbody who really wants to try our puertoriquen delicasy.🇵🇷🇵🇷👏👏🔥🔥😁👍
I'm not PR. I'm black but my dad grew up in Spanish Harlem. We used to go to Randalls island every Sunday in the summertime because his team had softball games. They used to roast a whole pig starting in the morning but my favorite thing to eat by far was the lady's coming around with their carts with homemade fried deliciousness and acapuria was by far my favorite. I probably spelled that shit wrong but I could eat that all day.
That’s a cod fish fritter. ‘Bacalaito’ is what we call it. I use to go there many decades ago but now I cook all those dishes at home! 😋
Me and my Mom used to drive from East Camden all the way to North Philly to get a platter from Porky’s 90’s Nostalgia!
Now I want some! Without a doubt, PR is definitely underated because cooks are modest and cook to show you some LOVE. My Dad has shared some of these recipes with me and now I'm teaching my son. Thanks for sharing!
Really impressed with the music you. Selected especially that heavv piano at beginning.never had Puerto Rican food before but looks like parking nightmare
It is 😂
Giving a shout out from Thailand. JL you got to try Freddy&Tony on 2nd and Allegheny on the corner another great Spanish restaurant.
I 3rd it for sure... delicious
ALSO ANOTHER PUERTO RICAN RESTAURANT LOVE THEIR PENIL (PICNIC) SANDWICHES .
Mark sent me here! I'm excited to come to Philly and try some of the food! 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳
hey JL I hope everyones doing great. ever since I saw u on marks channel I've been invested in getting to know more about your character cuz everywhere you go you seem to bring people together. then I finally googled your name and read an article when u were interviewed one time. and that last paragraph really struck a chord in me when you spoke about using music to bridge different cultures and it feels like the mission I've started out recently. I love music it's a part of my identity. but more importantly im mixed: thai-chinese, and after reading what you said has given me even more motivation to create a platform for myself to be able to connect people from vastly different points on earth together. I see that platform growing infront of me and thats JL Jupiter youtube channel. keep killing it man I can't wait to see what you'll accomplish. "I want to be part of the movement. I AM part of the movement."
Hey from Jersey. Thanks for supporting my fellow Boriquas. 🇵🇷 Thanks for highlighting local cuisine. I appreciate ya channel.
Dame ese toti🙃😘
Dang!!!! Porkys point! my dad used to take us there when I was a kid! When found it as an adult I would go there on lunch breaks and get food for the crew.
I died and went to heaven 😭 that food is amazing you know man I be proud to go something like that where I from
legendary Establishments like that yes for the neighborhood and for tourist

I'm almost 30 and still go. One of the best next to Freddy and Tony but the Allegheny one.
Wow...I grew up in the area! Nice to see that Porky's point still around😀
AWSOME!!!! I remember when my dad use to live in the Bronx. It was a METROPOLIS of " Puerto Rican " Bodegas that actually really make " Cuban sandwiches " and Pork restaurants everywhere..now you have to go to Harlem to get that Puerto Rican vibe..
Oh my goodness shout out to my old neighborhood!! Hunting park stand up!! Porky point is definitely a staple!! Love love love this channel! Thank you JL. I am binge watching your videos lol loving on you from Mount airy.!!!! 🙃😊
You had me at PORK. Another game changer!!!
The food is incredible especially the pork and canoas when they have them. But get your food and RUN! Stuff can pop off at any second on that corner.
True af!
Another great video I appreciate that when you have time you communicate with your audience versus other people who just put a heart and move on
I've seen this place before! Thought to myself, I gotta come back here and never thought about it again. Didn't know it was Puerto Rican!!!
That beat in the beginning is hard af
The way that man yelled "Pata-Lee-Hoe"...and walked off in confidence...lmao🤣
😂😂😂😂
Lived right around the corner from this jawn, it's definitely official
Philly Jawn here
Philly Jawn here....hey y'all!!!

I wish we could hear at least her response to the food if we can't see her all the time. Food looks delicious!
Looked fantastic. I'm from Buffalo and used to visutca great little mom and pop PR restaurant. I'm now in Cali with no PR dining anywhere. Takes me back years. Great video.
I'm Puerto Rican and this guy is making me hungry as hell looking at this video, cause everything he is showing I already had, over here in Chicago they have Puerto Rican restaurants but not like this place the brother is at.
Time to head back to Nphilly, missing home:). Appreciate you showing Philly some love on great food.
philly is a bad city dont go there
@@fawnnahh7438 I grew up in Nphilly graduated from Frankford High School, yes has it good and bad just have to use your streets smarts to get around.
I love my city not the best looking place but one of the realest places ever diamond in da ruff. Snyder Ave in south Philly has some good authentic Mexican food my favorite places
The pork sandwich looks fresh cooked well.it’s not who a places looks .it’s the food who they put love understanding and care in who the food tastes,to bring the people back.
That’s awesome, God Bless, you got me thinking of Puerto Rico. Salute, from the Bronx. I saw you with Mark Wiens…
Found you from Mark Wein’s channel. I love finding places like this to eat. Cute restaurants downtown are nice but the best food I’ve had is usually in those off the beaten path places. So good!
This spot is good but if you want the best PR food in PHILLY you need to hit up FREDY AND TONYS ON Front & Clearfield st... You will love it brotner..
Now I must try their food,3rd time their business mentioned in these comments 😍🥰😋
I was there years ago and remember that they didn't take credit cards. Be sure to bring cash.
One more down to the earth video for common people 😎 nice one JL.. 🔥
Very glad you pay us the honor of visiting a puertorrican restaurant and try our food. And yes, we are big in flavors. I envy you right now my friend. New suscriber as of today, 👍. Enjoy our cuisine, 😋🇵🇷
Yo, hanging out and performing at Sylvies, then bustin a grub at Porky's point, those were the days!!!!
Going to Porky’s for over 30 years. Showing my hood some love
One of my absolute favorite spots
NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE!! I’ve been traveling to Philly for a week every other year since 1989 (Conference at The Wills Eye Hospital.) I have never eaten at the same place twice (except fir the turtle soup at Reading Terminal Market!! Loved the video you did with Mark Wiens there. My advice: come during the flower show. Stay at the Marriott across the street from RTM. Walk EVERYWHERE!) Thank you for showcasing new places for me to visit! I promise to give you a “shout out” as I explore more of Philadelphia.
Thats how Puerto Rico sounds tho!
that same atmosphere always packed , music blasting , car driving by that’s how PR is well most of of the urban areas
All of that food looks great and I bet it really tastes good too!!!😃👍🏽
SImply The Best, Grew Up Earing Here! Alcapurrias With Gravy Is The Way To Go To

Mark Wiens brought me here. Good content! I'm now SUBSCRIBED!
The heck. I grew up around Rising Sun Avenue (well in the Melrose Shopping Center) area of Olney. But never heard of this place!!! I be missing out! PR version of John's Roast Pork?
Lol how? I grew up around you and I've seen this place 1000 time. I had a friend that lived around there as a kid so maybe that's why lol
Too far up this is right off 5th street its a amazing spot try it
Montco co.
Everything looks good 👍🏾
Yo!! I'm a Boricua from Santurce who grew up in NYC and now lives in Philly. I've been staying on vacation with the fam for the last 8 days in Guaynabo PR. Eating good as a mother... when I go back, now I got a spot to visit. Thanks for this JL. Know of other spots but this shit looks authentic. Ok you made me hungry so now I got to go to Loiza to get me some food. Had a Mofongo con carne frita on Saturday but some bacalaitos y alcapurrias would hit the spot right about now.
Man o man, I lived in fajardo back in the 90's and I swear we would drive to loiza every weekend for the food an just stare beautiful at the beautiful women for hours. Coming back next year on a cruise, CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Also arroz con bacalao y Aguacates al.lao. Like the El Gran Combo song.Theres so many Puerto Rican food.dishes out there that you won't get bored to eat every day. The only thing is every dish has to be acompany with rice white or yellow 😂😂😂 . Enjoy our food mi Genteeeee Wepaaaaa.

If you don't get hungry watching him eat, you ain't human! LOL. I love it! Shout out to Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 culture 🙌 & Porkys Point
Porky's point is one of my favorite places to eat at been going there for 20+ years
JL! Haha you like raw onions too! Gotta give respect to that! The fact that you never tried most of these PR dishes makes me feel like I'm there with you exploring. Honestly never tried food from PR but it all looks really tasty and has that 'comfort food' look. Going to have to put Puerto Rican food on my list now!
Exactamente
Porkys Point was a staple during my childhood, it’s funny that so many people don’t know about it!
Gem that needs to shine bright!!
@@indiald3373 Agreed! People would drive right by it, not realizing some of the best food comes from the little hole in the wall places.
I absolutely love the PR food and culture!!! Thank you “JL”!!! I’m from Boston Ma., I frequent Philly very often. Love Philly!!! You keep me up on all the great cuisine! Thank you!!! I totally rocks wit you brah!!! Your absolutely “Game Changing” my dude!!!
Porkys point is definitely a must if you r in Philly. Pork sandwich is #1 potato balls with pig ear gravy #2. My parents parents went there to get take out. Generations of feeding the people amazing P.R good 👍🏽
I was there September 2001. The champagne soda is killer and the food.........oh wow!
My coworker told me about Porkys Point for good Puerto Rican food. Now that I’ve watched your review it sealed the deal, I’m going to check it out.
That place gets mad packed but yes it’s a staple in Norf.
