    After only five-day visit to Nairobi, during which you explored the CBD with a camera, you concluded, “People in Nairobi prefer living in apartments because of the land laws.” However, you did not visit areas like Runda, Karen, Lavington, or Muthaiga. Then you stated, “Nairobi is Kenya, and Kenya is Nairobi.” No, brother, Kenya is a devolved country with government services available at the county level, then there is Huduma centers and the e-Citizen platform. Additionally, Kenya has many malls that function as mega centers where you can find everything you need. You don’t need to rely solely on the CBD. The CBD is congested because Kenyans are real hustlers. Honestly, your observations are biased by your perspective as a Tanzanian. You tried, but your ingrained biases were evident.

    😂😂😂 Young Man Kenya has Devolution where you will find 47 governments+I think every major town has something called Huduma centre and we have over 50 major towns across Kenya that means access to government services is less than 50km from our villages, In addition we have E-citizen which is an online platform that offers gov. Services from the comfort of our homes. So jamaa Nairobi is just a Capital City and infact Nairobi mimi huenda maybe kusalimia rafiki lakini not because natafuta huduma za serikali😅

    I knew you were going to get to 10k subs mark, we Kenyans do support you guys, next you you come make use of motorcycles to go around Nairobi estates like Eastleigh and Kilimani which you covered very scantly and also the front seat of Matatus which gives you the best vlogging around Nairobi also you came during very rainy season which was not best for filming around. Finally, Nairobi was the first African city to have structured bus services called Kenya Bus Services and it was massive but since mass transportation dont make profit the government sold it to British firm Stagecoach which also couldnt make profit so it died, currently there are two Kenyan firms: BasiGo and Roam that are manufucturing electric buses, so next time you will see much more on our roads.

    Hey, nice video, but let's go deeper. Five days isn't enough to grasp Nairobi. Vans for upcountry? Yeah, but don't overlook ENA COACH, EASYCOACH, TRANSLINE, COASTBUS, MASH, TAHMEED-they've got it covered too. Government services? It's not just a city thing; Ecitizen and Huduma centres are everywhere. And not every Nairobian is tied to appointments. Those city universities? They're just branches. JKUAT, St. Paul's, K.U., MKU, CUEA, USIU-they're all outside. Nairobi isn't the only story; think Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, Nakuru. Next time, get someone who really knows Nairobi. Your info's way off, especially on electric buses. Kenya's got a whole fleet, not just a handful. 🇰🇪

    Nice video mr Bertin but from what im seeing in this comment section i think Tanzanians should know that kenya is not quite their competitor or rather not as per the moment , i think you guys are too obsessed with competing for the east African economic power hub seat forgetting that you have not only kenya but also Ethiopia to deal with and so far thing ain't looking so promising, i just saw the World Bank article on African economies and Tanzania is down to the tenth place after being outgrown by Ivory coast while kenya is now above Angola , funny enough, Tanzania's gdp is closer to the 11th place than it is to ivory coast . Very honest review as a Tanzanian. Nairobi is well planned with very good landscaping of the streets at the CBD. They have bigger roads and enough space between buildings. On the other hand DAR CBD is a concrete jungle. If similar plan is applied to Dar then the CBD size would double. And ofcourse Nairobi CBD looks more congested with people while in DAR congested part of the city is the Kariakoo market. Cities in Tanzania discourage having main bus stands at the city center hence you find them far away from the city to reduce congestion.

There’s already a line & I think they’re upgrading it to fit in line with the belt and road initiative, but I think it may be more geared towards exports than commute. Theres a line in Serbia and it’s about the same length if not shorter than the SGR to Mombasa but it’s costing less & it’s new. Good job covering CBD, but you have barely covered Nairobi! Nairobi has' cities' within it, where sometimes people don't even move from those areas to access all services, be it Gvt, Hospital, Schools etc. I can't even remember the last time I was in CBD, I don't need to go to CBD for anything as I can get it outside of CBD. Many offices have moved out of the CBD, none of the Banks, Insurance Companies, large retailers and Corporates etc. have headquarters in the CBD. Majority of Gvt Ministries are in Upperhill out of the CBD (We call it Community...check it out). Embassies, International Organizations such as UNEP are not in the CBD. Services are in all these areas that removes the necessity to go the CBD! Major Global Hotel Chains etc are not in CBD.

    Good coverage but you still need to get more information about Nairobi because some of what you are saying is not true. Apart from Nairobi City centre we have other surrounding urban areas as far as 40kms with all the facilities that you may need. You can also board vehicles from there without ever visiting the city centre. Institutions like universities have branches in the City of Nairobi for convenience purposes for people who can attend classes after work. We also have modern buses, its just that you didn't have a local person to show you around. Good work but do some research to enrich your video.

  • @markisto8655
    @markisto8655 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I watched the whole Kenyan series and I can say you really tried to be professional and largely portrayed Kenya in a positive light. Hongera jirani! This final video is also fairly spot on. It is true Nairobi CBD is more crowded than Dar es Salaam despite Nairobi having slightly less population and this is partly due to lack of a proper public transit system. But we also have to accept that Nairobi is a bigger city with a bigger economy than Dar and Nairobians are more economically active than wanaDar es Salaam. Nairobi overgrew the CBD and now there are other commercial districts in Westlands, Upperhill, Kilimani and even Eastleigh (which by the way is even more bustling than CBD). Additionally, Nairobi has lots of estates (suburbs) which have branches of the major banks, major supermarket chains and other amenities, thus one can go for months without having to visit the city center. In short, you were mostly wrong to say that everything is in the CBD and that Nairobi is Kenya and Kenya is Nairobi. Kenya's second largest city, Mombasa, for instance, is way bigger than Tanzania's second largest city Mwanza.

    Tanzanian here, my last time in Nairobi Kenya was 2018 and i have been there thrice.
    What i can say is that Nairobi is good. Our neighbors have got a beautiful city and county.
    The only problem with Kenya is politicians. It's like they have sold that country to the Western Europe and USA and i say this because of the policies the country is adopting now. Eg the tax laws and GMO agricultural products. , And medical staff like HPV vaccine for teenagers though it's banned now.
    But honestly i liked Nairobi and Kenyan culture in totality.
    If i were to recommend how Kenya should improve especially culturally i will say they should improve their relationship with their police officers like Tanzania 🇹🇿 it will improve their security especially on terrorism though i don't mean Kenya is insecure.
