Yes los Pumas is making history, and they have the momentum. The physicality, experience and home ground will push the Springboks. Will be a close match. This is the best Rugby Championship ever 👏👏👏👏👏
Bro I hope I eat my words, but as an Argentinean I sadly don't think we have the slightest chance against the Boks on home soil with their A team. Hope I'm wrong!
Argentina is exactly what we all need. A talented new dawg coming in to spoil the party and troll the hell out of all the naysayers. Commendable pronunciation of ash-ooomesss
Great video as always Squidge, but for me Tomas Albornoz is no Average player. Believe me as a Benetton supporter he is an amazing player Who Made the difference many games last year.
Pablo Matera is the best player in the world alongside PSDT, Kolbe, Etzebeth and Dupont. There's few players if any who plays with such heart and passion. Just because he plays for Argentina i feel he often gets overlooked. For me he has been the most consistent loose forward alongside Ardi Savea in the past 7 years.
Such a pity he derailed his captaincy and set his career back with those stupid racist tweets. Glad he apologised, took accountability, and moved on. Great player.
Chocobares is from a little town in the pampas region, believe me, if people from that area of the country start playing rugby Argentina will be a superpower in the sport.
TRC bonus point isn't for 4 tries. You need 3 or more tries more than your opponents. So, Argentina need to score 3+ more tries than the Boks and finish 7+ points in front of them. It is technically possible, but isn't going to happen. The slightly sad part is that it is likely than NZ will overtake Argentina and finish in 2nd place in the TRC, although I hope Australia mess that up.
Mathematically possible, but reality is that the Boks will likely win by a similar amount that the All Blacks won by in Auckland. No passengers for the Boks this week and Argentina with travel fatigue, altitude and no Kremer. Will most likely get ugly for them.
So, I gotta partially disagree, I watched the Argentines beat the ABs and I called Argentina beating the Boks. I think this Argentine squad *could* beat the Boks by more than 3 tries. It is a tall order - but this Argentine squad seems to believe in itself. I have seen the Argentines start strong against top-tier teams, then loose faith (and energy) in the second half and crumble. This squad seems to be able to keep the pressure up into the second half from a physical standpoint - and from a mental standpoint, they seem to believe they can win. Making the risky plays in the end of the second half because they think they can pull it off, rather than going for a safe pick-and-go to wind down the clock play. And they are now in a position where they could, for the first time, win the Rugby Championship - they would need a performance for the ages - but I think they can do it. And what a game it would be if they did.
@@MajesticDemonLord You’re entitled to your opinion, but my opinion is that this Argentina team as good as they are, would be hard-pressed to beat Allistair Coetzee’s boks by a 3 try margin playing in SA. Now, if there were another bad day at the office for the boks the Argentines may even squeak a win and that would be even more impressive than last weekend. But saying they “could beat the boks by more than three tries” is unfathomable to me or anyone who has been paying attention to these boks since 2018.
@@Tar-ZA-n Hard pressed - that is fair. This is a very impressive SA squad - no doubts. But seeing the Pumas play against the ABs, I feel they have gotten over the mental aspect of their game - and so it is possible they could do it.
Great video as always! How about this for an idea: the Lions tour South America instead of Australia? Warm-ups against Chile and Uruguay, then three tests against los Pumas?
Daniel James here, just watched this Video. And I fucking loved it. Finally someone is Talking about Argentina. It has been along time coming. Come on you PUMAS...!!.
Ran into the squad at my gym today. Wasn't allowed to interact with them, but the amount of dedication from guys like Lavanini is palpable. Needless to say just being near the okes was inspiring, I would not mind seeing them take the championship
Pumas performing well is not a sudden thing, they were expected to be one of greats in the last RWC but they somehow fizzled away terribly so I'm glad to see they finally comming right again.
Creevy and Nicholas Sanchez was disrespected by world rugby and massively overlooked by fans all around the world. Literally two of the best players to ever play the game but overlooked because their Argentine. Nico Sanchez was a far better flyhalf than Sexton and Farrel but the media only hype about them but never Sanchez who btw is the greatest place kicker of all time. Same is currently happening with Matera...they treat Argentine players with disrespect. 😢 Matera is top 3 players in the world.
@@NicoSanchez-bz7he you spoke my mind. So many 1st tier players from the Jaguares overlooked. Pablo seems fully fit too,,he's got and extra yard if pace?
Same with Juan Martin Fernandez-Lobbe back in the day & several others. The Anglo rugby press still don't regard what they see as non traditional unions with much respect & indeed their players whether they are Argentine, Fijian or Georgian.
La única manera de conseguir el respeto del rugby anglosajón, es dar el golpe en la mesa y ganarles en su propia casa, un Rugby Championship sería algo bonito, pero ganar el mundial te sentaria en la mesa de los grandes.

We haven't reached the top yet, but with time and effort we will achieve it. No matter what happens this week, we will always be proud of our pumas. VAMOS PUMAS!
Impecable Analisys man. I saw so many details in strategy that could not see by myself! Thank you. Greetings from Argentina. Vamos Pumas!!! Next match with the Boks will be great beyond result.
Being Argie, that lost match against the Aussies in the last minutes hurts too much, we could have been in a way better place n this "final" and even worse, we can eb even end under the ABs if we are soundly beaten or the Aussies end being trahsed. SIDE NOTE: In the same way the Boks could have mantein their initial advantage, the Pumas missed too many kicks that could have put a better margin without ending in such a nervewrecking ending.
If Argentina could combine the passion with some cold blood in some critical moments they can be consistently beating every top team, meaning that they will be one of the big ones and candidate to every world cup or championship.
Three times WC semifinalists .. and we need to perform every single time in order not to be considered a guest of the elite . Crazy ..happened in Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey , Tennis ..is just matter of time to win a major tournament. Probably not this one ... massive Favourite Boks .. Massive. But wait for it
Also, on that last penalty, surely that's exactly the type of pen refs constantly refuse to call 99% of the time, when a scrum-half flops down on the tackler and seals him in as he's rolling away. Should never even have been a pen.
Brilliant, Squidge! How you see and remember - and interpret - so many tiny details, makes me realise that you and I are watching an entirely different game. Thanks for everything you give us - and in a completely non-partisan way.
The only thing about watching a game played in Argentina is the sound is really bad. You can hardly hear the ref. Can't hear the crowd which makes it feel like a covid match. Wish they'd sort that out.
For too long the Boks have relied on getting a kickable penalty to scrape a win in tight games and it's always worked including winning the RWC but this time perhaps they weren't expecting Pollard to get tired out so they can reshuffle positions to keep him on. Boks didn't take into account KLAs' card and a brilliant 17 minutes from the Pumas and therefore didn't think they'd need a kicker to close the game out and remember these games always come down to a single pen kick, missed kick or drop goal and that's where NZ lost the final, where France lost, NZ in the RC etc Otherwise the Boks are playing well above their average and it's been working, they'll be a force when they start getting the rest of their game sorted out and that's where Rassie is focused on, not on relying on goal kicking to win like in the last RWC and he's admitted he's willing to lose a few games to achieve these objectives. That's why I think the teams experimenting now with new strategies and building depth are going to be ready for RWC27. The rankings are only important at the beginning of 2026 so this is the perfect time to be experimenting. As they say, "the kicker doesn't lose the game but they can win it" Go look at all the games the Boks have won and lost since the RWC, all comes down to crucial goal kicks, Boks lost to Ire because Libbok couldn't kick the 3 pointers, NZ would've won the RWC and a recent RC test is they got that last goal kick, France would've won if Kolbe didn't charge down that conversion, Ireland won the 2nd test because of that drop goal. Have Libbok on to end the game and he lived up to his unfortunate reputation just like he lost it vs Ire, fir the Stormers in the URC and now Arg in the RC so now Kolbe and Hendrikse will share the gial kicking next week. Nevertheless Rassie is not fussed, he's developing something else, I guess like NZ was like in the old days, couldn't kick but could score tries and Boks are getting closer to that, how many try opportunities did they squander last week against Argentina, that's what they looking at and why they not bothered about kicking performance or even winning. However Libbok has been demoted to the starting lineup and that must hurt him a bit.
I was so proud of them after pulling up from that 17-0 a couple of years ago that would have been a game over. I rember going to see the championship match in 2016 against australia in england. same things happen got australia got 2 tries ahead on the first minutes and argentina did not do much with a 1 men advantage... now... the fight in them is amazing. all the coaches have left something in this team they have grown so much from 2015.
Congrats to the Pumas, hope for an amazing game Saterday. We clearly underestimsted you guys and i feel who opened not only ours, but the world's eyes to just how exciting your change is in rugby. Keep it up!
Watching this and it's wild that every single ruck the boks are off their feet and tackling players beyond the ball. I guess they'd realised the ref wasn't calling it, but it's not even subtle!
@@Edgycoo Funny how everytime we win or even just play a game you blame the referee or you accuse us of match fixing. Because apparently everytime your team plays against us it's unfair and you think that your team is entitled to winning the game no matter what happened actually in the game 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Well it's what Rassie has often said "Learn to play the ref as well as the game". No good playing one style only to realise the ref doesn't notice those quirks and penalises like Bryce Lawrence.

Matera was offside in all of the mauls disrupting the space of srumhalf and never got penalised. But Im a fan of Pablo yes, just hope he plays a clean game Saturday and stop the obstruction. Good to have a SH ref for this game.
Can't argue with the numbers - well done Argentina from a Bok supporter. Some magnificent rugby. I have always supported Los Pumas as my second team. Now we have to really worry about them against my precious....
Okay as good as this is for the Argies, we also just need to put things into perspective: They won with 1 point at home agaist a second string bok team. They have had better wins agaist the boks before.
That penalty we milked at the end was definitely planned, I was laughing when I saw smith on that guy and Hendrikse fake like he's falling over him. Too bad Manie can't handle the pressure for kicks for poles. Because he kicks brilliantly without that pressure
The exhausting thing about Squidge is he makes every game seem like it was one of the all time greats. By this time next year people will forget how Argentina beat a South African B squad.
what is a little ridiculous is if ARG win by one point, beating the world champions 2-0 they still won't win the silverware... The RC needs to change its rules to work more like the 6N
What are you talking about? The 6N rules work pretty much the same. The team with the most points (including bonus points) wins. If this was the 6N, a 1 point win for Argentina would still see the Boks on 20 (losing BP) and Argentina on 18 (or 19 if they got a try bonus). The only difference is in the 6N you get a try bonus for 4 tries and in TRC it’s 3 more than your opponent.
It is fantastic to see the massive improvement in Argentina. It's funny, at the start of the championship, most local bookies had Argentina being least likely or nearly least likely to win. It's still unlikely for them to win now unfortunately, but they have given themselves a chance and could come second. Come next year, the 2025 championship could be theirs to claim.
Don't mention this to Rassie but if he includes a real life ex US Navy Seal instructor to his inner training team for not only physical and mental fitness but discipline as well. Would the Bokke pass a Seal Training course? Maybe!
Kamp Staaldraad has been done and the "army" training is outdated and is proven that it doesn't work. England enlisted their military before a world cup as well. All this will accomplish is someone will get injured and the camp will hate their coach.
Would the bokke pass a seal training course? Probably not. Would Seals pass a Bok training session? Probably not either. Both groups are training for different kinds of fitness (SEALS aren’t typically running into human giants and Boks aren’t carrying KGs of weapons in the water)
Squidge I know you've got your plate full already in terms of stuff your covering but will you be making any videos on the WXV this year especially some of the smaller teams like madagascar?
Great analysis. Wide play by the Pumas (Vamos) enabled by the continual overlap due to a yellow card. Regardless, that is rugby and taking advantage where there is opportunity wins games. We did it in 2023, funnily enough the only team I’ve seen recently that rises to the occasion being a man down is England, they seem to play better 14 vs 15. Probably something to look at there.
The pinning at the ruck was the clearest intentional play of the game to me 😂 I massively prefer when refs don't fall for those games, but having so many weapons available is what makes the boks the best right now...
Squidge, please consider using a compressor on the audio in your videos. The volume range across your videos, and sometimes the sudden jumps are not lekker.
I was in Wellington at an Argentinian bakery when Pablo Matera and a few others on the team came in, very tight space so had to say something to leave, usually I like to poke a bit of fun or get a laugh but this time round I didn't know what to say to him so I just wished him luck for the text the next day, Argentina went on to win the game. Yo creo que Los Pumas pueden hacerlo. Estuvieron muy cerca en el partido previo al WRC 2023 en Johannesburgo (y creo que el equipo hoy esta mas consolidado que en aquel momento). The Argentinians have great expectations of this side 2nd to their soccer team & crowd attendance is testament to that, ...compared to lousy New Zealand

Bok win 20 or 30 points more as usual.at least arg Win the three oponents in one RC.
As an unbiased neutral fan, I always knew the potential of Argentina. Greetings from Argentina.
Great video as always! How about this for an idea: the Lions tour South America instead of Australia? Warm-ups against Chile and Uruguay, then three tests against los Pumas?
They deserve it. Especially if they back this Rugby Championship up in the Northern tour
That’s the best idea I’ve heard of in a while!
Should be put in the Lion’s agenda for the subsequent tour!

Ran into the squad at my gym today. Wasn't allowed to interact with them, but the amount of dedication from guys like Lavanini is palpable. Needless to say just being near the okes was inspiring, I would not mind seeing them take the championship
wht wer the benching?
Was NEVER going to happen. 48-7 with no answer by the Pumas in the second half was about right.
Pumas performing well is not a sudden thing, they were expected to be one of greats in the last RWC but they somehow fizzled away terribly so I'm glad to see they finally comming right again.
"World class team." chills, literal chills
un sueño del que no me quiero despertar.

As an Argentine and after reading some comments, let’s not make the mistake of calling Los pumas a powerhouse , they’re good , but they need to win a rugby championship or a World Cup and that would definitely cement them in that status , the boks were missing regulars In the first test match , it’s like our soccer team missing Messi and a few regulars , the boks are the reigning world champions , they will roar back next week , it’s inevitable, but Los pumas are making extraordinary progress , they have now beaten all 3 southern hemisphere power houses in the same championship , we have managed to be competitive, not bad for a country always on the edge of bankruptcy

Right
Discipline is still a weakness for the team
Three times WC semifinalists .. and we need to perform every single time in order not to be considered a guest of the elite . Crazy ..happened in Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey , Tennis ..is just matter of time to win a major tournament. Probably not this one ... massive Favourite Boks .. Massive. But wait for it
Sorry, but that clearout on the Kriel score was 'off feet' all day--he just dove at the jackler's knees from about 3 metres outside the ruck.
Also, on that last penalty, surely that's exactly the type of pen refs constantly refuse to call 99% of the time, when a scrum-half flops down on the tackler and seals him in as he's rolling away. Should never even have been a pen.
thank you
Brilliant, Squidge!
How you see and remember - and interpret - so many tiny details, makes me realise that you and I are watching an entirely different game.
Thanks for everything you give us - and in a completely non-partisan way.
If AURA was a rugby player, Pablo Matera is it.
The only thing about watching a game played in Argentina is the sound is really bad. You can hardly hear the ref. Can't hear the crowd which makes it feel like a covid match. Wish they'd sort that out.
This was how I dried my tears on Saturday, knowing that squidge will at least drop a bomb video on the game😂

For too long the Boks have relied on getting a kickable penalty to scrape a win in tight games and it's always worked including winning the RWC but this time perhaps they weren't expecting Pollard to get tired out so they can reshuffle positions to keep him on.
Boks didn't take into account KLAs' card and a brilliant
17 minutes from the Pumas and therefore didn't think they'd need a kicker to close the game out and remember these games always come down to a single pen kick, missed kick or drop goal and that's where NZ lost the final, where France lost, NZ in the RC etc
Otherwise the Boks are playing well above their average and it's been working, they'll be a force when they start getting the rest of their game sorted out and that's where Rassie is focused on, not on relying on goal kicking to win like in the last RWC and he's admitted he's willing to lose a few games to achieve these objectives.
That's why I think the teams experimenting now with new strategies and building depth are going to be ready for RWC27.
The rankings are only important at the beginning of 2026 so this is the perfect time to be experimenting.
As they say, "the kicker doesn't lose the game but they can win it"
Go look at all the games the Boks have won and lost since the RWC, all comes down to crucial goal kicks, Boks lost to Ire because Libbok couldn't kick the 3 pointers, NZ would've won the RWC and a recent RC test is they got that last goal kick, France would've won if Kolbe didn't charge down that conversion, Ireland won the 2nd test because of that drop goal.
“Libbok demoted to starting lineup” hahaha! 😂😂
Congrats. Great video. Cheers from Buenos Aires!
Squidge video? I like first, then watch. Great analysis as usual
Another great video with wonderful insight. Thank you Squidge.

Watching this and it's wild that every single ruck the boks are off their feet and tackling players beyond the ball. I guess they'd realised the ref wasn't calling it, but it's not even subtle!
Boks get away with so much its criminal. I think nore of their budget goes to the ref than the players.

Si los pumas ganan este sábado de nuevo por un punto, ls springboks debieran darle la copa del torneo igualmente 😊
@@ColinGrealy big difference in getting bonus point for tries scored than bonus point for tries ahead when there is a losers bonus point in the system
@@PowerHouse1987great recall!
I remember the French doing this with the French Foreign Legion. Although there I think it was mostly for publicity

Part of me wishes I didn't do that, part of me reckons they've more than just deserved their wins against ever single team in the rugby championship.
That match against Australia hurts me😢 we wouldn’t need that bonus point to win championship
