After many years it’ll be second nature. It’s called “peppering”. A warmup drill. Teaches all techniques of volleyball. Arm swinging/hitting technique, bumping/digging technique, and volleying/setting technique. Single most effective approach to good fundamental mechanics.
That ball, the molten 5000, is actually very soft but Carries a lot of force On impact! I played with it in a tournament and it really wouldn’t hurt your arms as much as other balls.

@@MemeBlaster fix your form and it won’t hurt so bad. Volleyball players “bump” with the part of the forearm that faces up when you give a thumbs up 👍. If you lightly slap all sides of your forearm, you’ll notice that side will sting the least (same for the side your pinky is on). And when you have proper form that equally distributes the force on both forearms on that specific part, harder hits don’t hurt as much. For reference, a “perfect” bump would have the ball hit about the halfway point on your forearms, and if you don’t get it there it’s better to be closer to your wrists or even on your hands for control’s sake. It’s when you _don’t_ adhere to that form that you’re howling in pain, which is also usually when you have the least control of the ball. The other comments are also not lying when they say it gets easier and hurts less the more you practice. Part of the reason for that is building pain tolerance, but most of it is getting better at your form so that you can reliably not hurt yourself. The more advanced me and my team got the rarer it was for any of us to walk away with bruises on our arms. And I was a full time defender, which meant I took most of the heat and still never got the bruises on my arms to show for it in all of the 10 years that I played
