    Very good analysis guys, top notch!
    I think last year our managers were unfair to Jay as all of the goal scoring responsibility was put on his young shoulders. This season we have Alfie, a regular 20 goals a season man, a gem of the like that we haven't had for a VERY long time. We shouldn't forget that. IMHO Alfie has to start, as does Jay., who won't be under he same pressure to deliver by himself. The other thing not to forget is that we are in 3 competitions still, have players going away for internation duty and we'll face injuries, suspensions ans fatigue/loss of form in the New Year. We need our squad and after what happened at Charlton perhaps we need a bit more rotation. A lot of other League One teams don't have that luxury! KRO

      @BCFCRoyalBlue  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much for your comment Chris which is greatly appreciated. You make a good point in the amount of games we will play this season and the luxury we have in comparison to other teams. We have two top strikers to call on and in some cases in may be a case of rest and rotate rather try to shoehorn them both into every game. KRO!

    What a great problem to have 😂 Every manager in the league would love to have it! It’s a long season and we will need them both. The only way is up and by the time we back to the championship this will all be sorted. Easily the best podcast out there you are the Stanno and May of the social media - well done KRO👏

      It is a good problem to have and a very different problem from what we have been used to in the past. If Chris Davies can find a way of getting them both firing then we will score a lot of goals this season. KRO!

    Stansfield would work on the left cutting in like he has done for Fulham. For me I’d go with against Lincoln is Stansfield on the left, Scott Wright on the right, Thor as the number 10 then Alfie May as the number 9.

    Great discussion as always 👏
    Getting the best out of Alfie and Jay is the key to pulling away and securing the title at a canter.
    Although I sadly can't see it happening, I have to echo your vision Gary of a 3-5-2 with both Alfie and Jay up top.
    They would tear up this division and what a delight that would be for the fans.
    We can dream...

    It is a tricky one. I think the only way they can play together is with May up top and Stanno as the 10, but CD has said he wants Jay up top. There are at least two better options at number 10 than Alfie. My instinct would be to have May as an understudy to Jay, perhaps coming on as sub in the 70th minute and resting Jay from time to time. Whether Alfie would be happy with that is another thing. Two up top probably isn't going to happen. Nice channel guys, thanks for the entertainment.

    Its better for the team for only one of them to play in the starting XI. There is lots of games so rotation is the way to go IMO. But May is 10 years older and unproven in the Championship so Stansfield will start the majority of games.

    Great content as always guys, it's a tough one, isn't it?? I'd probably stick with Alfie May up front and leave Stansfield behind, it's a tough one though. It's a bit confusing,if you drop Stansfield back from the 9, who are you putting as the 10 Stanno or Willumsen, or and who do you switch out on the wing?? It's a good problem to have and I'm sure CD will find the right blend.

    Hi both. It was a really in depth analysis. Probably every angle covered. MHO, is that they cannot play in the same 11. However, they CAN both play in the same game. May is brought on along with the excellent Wright at 50 minutes, + a fresh left winger.
    I'll be happy when the Imps game is over. A draw would be acceptable. Thank you for the show.

      @BCFCRoyalBlue  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment Tony which is greatly appreciated. Willumsson at no. 10 for me as well. It does create a problem with where to play Alfie if Chris Davies stick with Jay at No.9. KRO!

      @richardpincher8936 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't agree that Stansfield has to work hard to create. He has scored different types of goals. He has a lot more in his locker with regards to different types of goals from what we've seen from May and Stansfield in a Blues shirt.
      Stansfield is one for the more audacious but his goals against Wrexham prove that he has a strikers instinct too.
      I really hope that Chris Davies can find a way of both players playing more often than not in the same team.

  • @bostonbrum5288
    @bostonbrum5288 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I still believe we're strong enough to play a 4-3-1-2. Leonard in the 3 with Paik and Tomoki, Thor in the 10 role. This leaves Jay and Alfie as the 2 strikers. To put our top strikers on the pitch together should be a no brainer. Just the same as finding a spot for Leonard. Nice problem to have, rotate Scott Wright and the others in depending upon opponent and score on the day. To have Stansfield and May in duel forward roles will have opponents horrified. Thor and the other midfielders can shoot outside also. KRO

    YES!👍 Alfie May No:9 & Jay Stansfield No:10 Thor Willumsson to stay off RW & the in-behind role to accommodate a proper winger such as Scott Wright, he was historically an advancing CD and Thor has freedom of the park & pitch whenever he plays anyway! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿KRO!

    I don't see that we need to have a definitive role for either of them? I think it's really early days to be drawing any firm conclusions yet and would like to allow them more time to develop. I'd keep the formation as it is, but allow May and Stansfield to maybe interchange or swap positions, depending on the in-game situation. Anyway, great episode as always and as someone else has said in this thread it's a very nice 'problem' to have!

    There comes a time when you have enough depth and quality in the squad that it's possible to change formation. With the attacking players we have it's got to be 4-3-3 with Stansfield on the left and May in the centre.

      @BCFCRoyalBlue I thought I'd go with a comical angle as a cover-up to I have no idea what to do 🤣🤣
      You're absolutely right. It's definitely a lovely problem to have. So many comments on here make a good argument as to what is the best thing to do to how you solve a problem like Stansfield and May (I can think of worse problems 🤣🤣).
      I particularly enjoyed your Burke and Hogan chat. What we'd give to have them both back 🤣🤣
      All joking aside. May is at his best when playing number 9. Stansfield, I think could play 9, 10 or wide left or right he's that good, and he would produce. Just look at where he played for Fulham against us and the problems he caused and the goal he scored.
      Willumsson is best in the number 10 role, so if we're playing all 3, that's how we get them all in.
      Luckily, it's for Chris Davies to solve this wonderful problem.
      There's always the concept of squad rotation. I think if you spend the money we have on Stansfield then he's going to start more often than not by some distance.
      KRO 💙

    IMO May needs to play up top Jay needs to play out wide I would play him on the right side and then move Willum back to the AMC/10. No Queston about it Stansfield is very effective has an Inside forward cutting in that's in his own words his best and fevered poison. He played there for Fullum and played there in the cup game V us gave us a hard time and scored. I can see this happening once Laird is back because Laird will push up filling the space that Stansfield leaves when he cuts inside at the moment neither TGH nor Sampsted can do that effectively Because they both just want to cross the ball and not hold it up Laird will hold it up and what for forward movement allowing for cover at the back to stop counter attacks. Ther is no time to get that cover if the RWB is just crossing from the byline it would leave a gaping hole. And for that reason, Willum is being played on the right but that creates this problem with where you play Stansfield. So, let's see what happens when Laird is fit.

    There's too many games to expect the same front line to play all of them, especially when CD expects them to chase everything. These means using one as an understudy/supersub or change and adapt the formation depending on the opposition. 4-3-1-2 with Willumson sitting in behind the front pair might work against some teams, but this takes out your wingers. I would rather play the wide men to start, moving to the two up front if we end up chasing a result. KRO

  • @Bluemineck
    @Bluemineck หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi guys. I think it’s the opportunity cost of playing both. They play off the work of others and if they’re both playing then that’s one less creator. So that’s my theory. In practice it’s the opportunity to play Willumsson and Wright that is the question. And I’d prefer them both to play presently. Willumsson is wasted away from the centre. I watched his first half for Iceland the other night. He was completely ineffectual despite working his socks off. He needs to be central to enable him to play to his strengths. And Wright merits a run at inside right which relies on the no2 bombing on. Which ours do! Great podcast giving fans the chance to have some fun in these discussion 😀

    • @BCFCRoyalBlue
      @BCFCRoyalBlue  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    How very dare you!! Scott hogan was of a superior quality. He was head and shoulders above any other striker we have had in the past. Now, admittedly, I am blind but in this day and age, you must not disregard my point!
    I think the answer is jay on the right and may 9. They way we attack jay would not need to play winger as TGH or laird push on so would be like 2 9's up front.
    May loves playing for us so I doubt he ain't happy at all. It will work, in Davies we trust.

    You guys wont admit it but and did not ask the question. Is it the best 11 with May and Stansfield on the pitch together? No it isn't and you are trying to force it to work. Can it work yes in league 1 but not the best 11 where for me best 11 up front is Thor 10, May or Stansfield in 9, Scott Wright on right and hanson or anderson on left. I think Davies will be forced to have May as a bench player for Stansfield but it may cause a problem in the dressing room.

    I agree that Willumsen should be 10. Stansfield can play both 8 and 9. As I see it, May can only play 9 (forget about him as a creative midfielder). So it's got to be: Stansfield 8, May up top, WW as 10. It's a problem...but what a luxury problem! Keep Right On...

      Thanks, Phil, interesting points. Totally agree that it's great to have squad depth where we can have this conversation and problem, KRO! 😆

    Great chat but Stansfield number 9 he is a finisher all day every day.
    May is now a rotation player sadly but that’s the way it goes.
    We have such a strong team and so many games to play. KRO

    why do we have to play May ???

    • @BCFCRoyalBlue
      @BCFCRoyalBlue  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      May is a great goalscorer at this level. He was the top scorer for 2 seasons in a row and showed us what he can do by scoring 5 already this season. We're just trying to gauge what the most effective way to utilise them both is, KRO! :)

      Probably because he’s our top goal scorer so far. And the fact he has been league 1 top goal scorer for the three last seasons.

    Don't rate Dykes yet. Give him time to settle in. If he is not contributing more by Christmas - get rid. Stansfield no. 10.

      Thank you for your comment Frank which is greatly appreciated. Early days for Dykes but he will be down the pecking order with Stansfield and May in the team. Willumsson has to be no.10 for me. KRO!

    It's alfie for me . I'll throw something out there that a lot of fans wont like, but i dont think we needed jay , we over payed and i feel he has disrupted the flow of the team KRO.

      That was my argument r8ght from the very start, worry about the championship if and when we get there, as good as Jay is, and he is an excellent young player. But we could have got 2 or 3 really good players for his reputed transfer fee. And no whichever way you juggle it around they can't effectively play in the same side without one of thems game suffering.
