    For anyone wanting this done in Japan I highly recommend going to a local salon. They won't speak English but the service tends to be A LOT cheaper.... English speaking salons can sometimes charge extortionate amounts so be careful! 💕

    • @eri7-11
      @eri7-11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      my local salon near Mount Fuji talked to me about getting the straight perm. The girl next to me got it but the chemicals smell so strong and kinda irritated my eyes but damn her hair sparkled like a glittery waterfall. How damaging is this truly? I mean those chemicals did not smell gentle.

    • @sophiesophie499
      @sophiesophie499 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eri7-11 I had this perm done maybe twice a year for around 5 years! And I never had any damage~ the chemical does smell very strong (and your hair will smell like that for a few weeks maybe) but they always check very carefully throughout the process that your hair is ok~

    Am I the only one who finds it... a bit scary that the little scissor bag he carries on his side is worth more than the car Cathy came in?

    • @TheDeathMongrel
      @TheDeathMongrel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Not really. I've been around violinists who carry million dollar bows. Especially because they're harder to sell than something like gold jewelry which has a value when melted down, and generally aren't worn in a manner that tears, like earrings.

    • @steemlenn8797
      @steemlenn8797 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheDeathMongrel I think you are talking of theft? That is surely a part (more nightly burglar than someone storming the shop though), but I personally was more thinking about accidents. Like he sits down and the bag slips and all the scissors go "crack".
      Probably too sturdy even with a single one, but still I have that feeling.

    • @TheDeathMongrel
      @TheDeathMongrel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steemlenn8797 Yup, was thinking more theft. Still, on the subject of accidental or careless damage, I don't find it scary because when people have such overly expensive tools, they don't usually get careless with them--rather they're overprotective, if anything. I'd guess the bag was well-tested, but if not, there will be a lesson to be learned :) Cheers!

    Please do your research people!
    Although it might do wonders for some people, it's not for everyone, and everyone should be aware of the risks of Japanese straight perm.
    I've read many comments under TH-cam videos where people with curly hair got their hair messed up permanently. They used to have beautiful curls, but after the straight perm, their hair wasn't the same even after its regrowth. Some people I know (non-Asian and Asian friends) got it. Some had a good experience with it and others, unfortunately, messed up their hair. 😥 (I've been in Japan for almost 5 years in total now.)

    Permanent hair straightening is NOT going to cure frizzy hair..it's gonna make it worse with more chemicals!! I have very wavy hair and it's not frizzy coz I wash it every 6-7days and blow-dry to a minimum if at all, and I plait it so it waves up nice too. It USED to be frizzy and look terrible back when I dyed my hair and straightened it, now people are always telling me I have lovely thick hair. Also, your hair will look amazing if you layer it too if you feel it's too thick, get layers (not graduated layers - the other type).
