- How to Drive FAST in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! In this video, I'll go over 10 driving techniques that will help you drive faster in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! These fast driving techniques are split up into three categories: Drifting, Tricking, and Gliding. I'll go over all of these categories in this video, and by the end, you'll have a better idea of how to drive fast in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

For a beginner I don’t understand how to execute all the things being mentioned. What would help if you can show what buttons I’m supposed to press on the controller.

Thank you jp, for getting me interested in competitive mario kart, I had this game for years but just realized how fun it is.
Is it okay if you can make a tutorial that goes more in depth into soft drifting? There's just sometimes I think my finger is in the correct angle it's supposed to be (up right, up left, down right, or down left diagonally) and it still just doesn't work. There's sometimes I can get the soft drift down but other times it just doesn't work. For example, the UMT (ultra mini-turbo) glider on MK8 Rainbow Road with 10 coins laps 2 & 3, I've practiced it for hours and it's a very difficult and precise soft drift. Maybe you can show different examples with different vehicle combos in the game when you're soft drifting and when you're not soft drifting properly with hand cam or a display.

of course! I can't guarantee a handcam but I know there's a way to connect your controller to your computer as a way of it tracking your inputs, but idk how to do it. will see!

Can you please explain how the top time trial baby peach/ princess keep speed while drifting through courses. It's like they drift and hop then drift opposite way or something but it always looks like they keep a super high speed through the course. How do they do this to keep the speed lines going by when drifting? Any knowledge would be helpful
For motion tricking do I have to set the bind for that action.

i did a few of these in mk7 but never thought it was a thing in mk8 deluxe too!
My only complaint about the video is that I hear what you're saying but it's super hard to visualize it. Like I can't imagine how to use the stick correctly and I would appreciate it if you can show a vid of you doing the example with the controller in hand please. It's just really hard for me to follow.

Thanks dude! Low tricking is barely ever necessary in this game, but if it comes down to it, trick off the ramp as late as possible

Yes! That’s the best way.

What about the flame hopping? I was told it's no longer a thing but it looks like you have it down.
I think what you're seeing is counter-hopping! It's slightly different, its purpose is to realign yourself to have better lineups for shortcuts/drifts
Isn't spindrifting a thing too in mk8dx or is it only in mkwii
It is not worth going for at all in this game
spindrifting is a thing in mk8dx but its mutch less important

alright, im missing something here..
1. is delayed drifting the fastest way to get the max drift speed?
2. when i do delay drift i only get the yellow flame quicker IF i hold the one direction i chose to drift. i have to turn the other way during the drift
so im not offroad because offroad areas stop my drift completely. how do i get the max speed during turns??
3. were you doing this with the FUCKING joycons and their drifting issues or using a pro controller?
i feel utterly humiliated losing to my sister who has a tiny brain, doesnt know anything.

I don't understand your explanation of soft drifting. You show a clip saying soft drifting is faster than hard drifting, but the clip seems to show a ghost that's hard drifting very tight around a corner and is actually being much faster than the soft drifter?
