This album got a lot of hate when it came out - released in their most destructive period where they nearly broke up 19 years ago, James ended up in rehab. Was all filmed for the documentary 'Some kind of monster". I feel the album has aged alot better than expected. The songs sound a whole lot better live with the proper drums, and James' vocals are the best currently than they have been in a while. Loving they have been playing this on recent sets.
I have been a 'Tallica fan for a long, long time and I think people shut this album down way too fast. Yes there was the twang in the drums that people hated and it was around the time when they went against Napstar which made a lot of people upset (though they weren't the only musicians going against Napstar). But, St. Anger is a solid album with some amazing music. The problem is that everyone keeps wanting them to either do another Black album or another Puppets album and when they get something that isn't; they get furious and that is dumb. What is nice with this version from Lollapalooza is that Kirk through in a guitar solo that is not on the original recording.
I wasn't waiting for them to repeat themselves, I just wanted them to finish the album. Even as is there's a lot of things I like about it, but there is a lot of missed opportunities with it I think.
I think a lot of the younger generation just don't comprehend the seriousness of Metallica's lyrics. They've been singing deep and meaningful lyrics since the 80s, back when we cared. This sounds more like some of their stuff from Ride the Lightning or Kill Em All.
Metallica is my favorite band, this is my favorite album of all time. Hear me out... This whole album is my whole life and feelings in one album, even if I love an album it would be hard for me to listen to that album all on repeat for days, but that's just what I've done with this album! It almost feels as if this was made for the struggles I've been through in life, that's why it is, as said, my favorite album. Even if not all the songs on this album I will admit not masterpieces, to me it's more of a personal matter. Also, I would love to hear and see your react to the song All Within My Hands, from this same album.
St. Anger has good songs and lyrics. I'm quite sure that album and Metallica themselves deserve another chance and the best way is recording the entire album again, but with the best type of drums sound. 🤘🏼🎶
St Anger was done mostly after James got through a very extensive stay at a rehab facility... This may have been written after the said stay. May have. I like St Anger, especially these re-dos they have done in latter years. On the album, the drum sounds were off and it offended a lot of people back then, but it did give the album a whole lot of that rawness it had. It was basically the Beastie Boys album of Metallica. For example here the drum sounds are standard and they added a guitar solo for Kirk. St Anger the album was also notorious for not have guitar solos. Metallica had a lot of issues during this time. James going to rehab, possibly breaking up the band, Jason Newsted left the band, and they were planning on doing a film about "making the album" for St Anger. Needless to say, the documentary got done, but the subject matter was a whole lot more personal than it was supposed to be. The film "Some Kind of Monster" is a really good watch as it is very personal to the band...
St. Anger told personal and horribly painful stories, and in the Metallica way that means the music itself feels like those emotions. It's stunted, harsh, raw, out of control, regretful, mindless, and so g*ddamned human it's fascinating even if you can't stand hearing it.
It’s an album that had to be written. It’s significant in Metallica’s history. And it’s increasing love year by year. I bet the song is about James himself and puts it on the setlist as a reminder. He still has his problems.
Some of these songs actually sound a little bit better with proper drums and solos, but St. Anger is still way down towards the bottom of the pile of good Metallica. During the timeframe of Loads, St. Anger, Death Magnetic and Lulu, some of the best stuff they put out was S&M live album with orchestra, Through the Never short movie, and Guitar Hero Metallica video game, all of which are higher on my list (and mostly feature their old material).
Hey Mr L Boyd. I donated twice for a couple reactions about 3 weeks ago on a livestream. Roughly do you know when they are gonna be released? It was reactions for two Matt Nye tracks.
Yay first haha. I like st anger album.. but i love all metallica and all there stages and evolution through there career. Dirty window is under appreciated.
St Anger songs range from terrible to pretty good, however the production decisions on for studio album bring everything down. This song, unmarred by bad production, is pretty good overall.

The studio album will always sound like shit. I wish they'd remaster St. Anger cuz the songs when played live aren't too bad.
@@nick_4972 I learned to love it as is, but i would love a remix/remaster of it.
But, like, I didn’t like Dirty Window having a solo. It felt… forced, or something…
Song is about addiction. “This house is clean, man” he’s saying he’s sober

I don’t understand the hate of this album! They got a lot of great underrated beats, man! Especially this one!🎸🤘

A lot of people hate this album but I absolutely love it.

MetallicA dirty window live version is way better than the studio version. Thanks Kirk Hammett for your solo .
Excellent
The only thing I think is really wrong is Lar’s snare on the album. Sounded great with his kit now
I did not like most of Load or Reload but I always liked this album. A lot of the songs in it had a lot of cool tempo changes
When are you going to do more Coheed and Cambria?
My vote is unheavenly creatures, not live! I hate all live videos, live is only good if you are there!
You should react to the Rule of Nines one take by Spiritbox! Courtney Leplante is epic.
You should react to highly suspect 16
That album was bad no guitar solo sounds the same and songs too long. But it really made them keep playing and performing.
Hi, can you do the reaction for Kalush Orchestra- Stefania?
Great song representing current war in Ukraine. Made me cry
Chris Stapleton simple song please

Yay first haha. I like st anger album.. but i love all metallica and all there stages and evolution through there career. Dirty window is under appreciated.
Anything Metallica I am down for.
Live is way better
"Bringing the quality up" is not going to help anything on this album.
