Their newest song is called 'Screaming Suicide' It was released as a single less than a week ago!!! It is about how we ALL have had thoughts of suicide and we should not be ashamed to talk about it and should speak its name and get the help required! It is a good message! It is just a shame this Unnamed Feeling music video is the heavily edited music video version vs the album version!
James has struggled with mental health issues and alcohol abuse, so this is a very personal experience for him. The song shines a light on the difficulties and peril of mental illness. Nice reaction!
I'm willing to bet many of those who are having problems with drugs/alcohol, and the homeless, are struggling with something. Mental and/or physical. Not to mention how long have doctors said thins like cannabis or 'illegal' drugs are not a medicine, denying peoples pain and treatment that helps them? Yet now we know today many do find benefit in it. As these so called doctors prescribed things like opiates and kids dose meth, ritalin. No need for any special medical meth card either. I still say much of the homelessness and 'illegal' drug use is due to the failures of the medical system.
You should take a listen to "Bleeding Me" and "Outlaw Torn." And to take these a step further, while I don't usually recommend live versions for a first song listen, DEFINITELY listen to the S&M (Symphony and Metallica) versions of those songs. They are both dealing with those deep, dark feelings we tend to push down and hide, both are epic songs on the albums, but on the S&M concert/album, they are otherworldly. In fact, now I need to go listen to them myself...good job me!
This song and invisible kid are two great songs off that album. Those two songs could really help a lot of people in life. Fade to black off ride to lightning and screaming suicide off 72 seasons could also help a lot of people
I had undiagnosed clinical depression at 14 when this album came out. I INSTANTLY fell in love with this song. It helped me cope with so much then, and even now at 34. I could see how strongly this song resonated with you when I watched your eyes. Thank you so much for reacting to a song that's very near and dear to my heart. 💚
I was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 15, and I'm still here because of music. This album was a fail by others but for those that understood the reason of this album love it. This song helped me much the same way, dealing with those issues is a difficult thing. I'm glad your still here.
Metallica was fragmented when they struggled to write the St. Anger album. This was an authentic real life statement from the band and plough through their issues and it created another two decades of Metallica for us
holy cow this one is the best from an album most people hate . I appreciate the discussion about anxiety because it's a big obstacle for me. thank you for this video. I've had horrid panic attacks that have sent me to the hospital. on a lighter note when I get these thoughts instead of viewing it as a shadow I think of it as 'other barry ' from archer and I just need to keep him at bay
Great reaction! I like a good bit from St. Anger, this one probably being my fave. Glad you reacrted to it! To request one, it's song I've listened to a lot in the last 72hrs though I've known it for over 30yrs. A very good friend, husband of my best friend, decided to make the ultimate wrong choice at home this past Tuesday. A whole slew of emotions have washed over me since and I always seem to grab onto song(s) that hold the moment and emotion and in its way, help get the emotions out in times like this Rush's "The Pass" is such a great fit for your channel. The last verse really encapsulates my feelings of confusion and even anger that hit me in waves. Wishing you all peace!
Your mission statement is amazing and is the reason why I subscribed! Thank you so much for sharing your story and helping take down the stigma so that people can start getting help. I just got my first tattoo yesterday and its a semi colon which is the symbol that I have grasped onto. No song has ever described my mind more than this one. Thank you for reacting to this. Please do their new song, “Screaming Suicide” when you’re ready to take it in.
This song was released when I was a teenager, it helped me. I didn't know why I was feeling like that. Several teenegers are walking the same path and not knowing why or where to lead. Nowadays, knowing what I know now, kinda crushes My mind that a kid has to endure that, sometimes alone.
I will never understand that hate for the album. It's literally one of my favourites... I mean It is weird but It's honestly the reason why It's that good.
I’ve listened this song so many times in the past. It really helped a lot with it being so relatable. It’s an odd feeling hearing this song again after many years, but i like it. should make a playlist with songs like this for my workouts, it really wakes me up.
As surprised as I was when this CD came out, there are no Kirk solos in this whole album. Thanks for this reaction, I haven't heard it in a long while. One of my favorites
Being empathic in a room of other people can be excruciating, especially at parties where alcohol and drugs are involved, and you are sober. Being psychically gifted becomes a curse at those times, and it can be hard to discern where their thoughts and emotions begin and where your own begin. Like being at a hospital tears my soul apart. That's why we feel we need to medicate ourselves as well, to be able to dull down the sharpness of the ugliness of those around you. It's like this black hole of paranoia that wants to consume your spirit. I can handle up to five people in a company as long as I somewhat know them. Beyond that, the boundaries between me and them start tearing down, and I start feeling the vacuous hopelessness and pain of others. It's not me. I learn to shield using Magick, to be able to cope with the bottomless pits that are a lot of others.
The Teskey Brothers - Rain ( A COLORS SHOW ) is one that I think you will enjoy. Soulful and simple performance. Just to give you a little taste of what I'm talking about, here is just one line from the song -- " Is That Rain or Am I Cryin' Again "
I as a man had this more or less on repeat a couple of years because of things that happened in my life. Dad were not close, mom said it was that i just imagianed. I was told that i needed to open up, because people thougth i was so cold. I opened up to my mom and the oldest of my siblings. I had barely opened up before they fixed a social security check and the cops opened my door. The only thing i learnt was that i shall keep everything to myself
I'm so sorry you went through that. Opening up takes courage, and it’s devastating when that trust is met with betrayal or misunderstanding. Your feelings are valid-you deserved compassion and understanding, not control or intervention without consent. It's no wonder you feel safer keeping things to yourself after such a painful experience. Please know that your voice matters. There are people and spaces (like this community) where your story can be held with care and without judgment. Healing and trust can be rebuilt, but only on your terms, when you're ready.
Might I suggest 1 of four songs by Within Temptation "Mercy Mirror", "Super Nova", "Forgiven" or "The Whole World is Watching" The first three have to do with the grief of losing someone close. "The Whole World is Watching" is a more uplifting one about changing your life after dealing with depression or hitting rock bottom.
In case no one's told you before, they released a documentary called Some Kind of Monster all about the making of St Anger, the album this song comes from and you can really see the struggles the band were going through that nearly ripped them apart. Might be something worth watching when you've got a spare couple of hours.
Amanda not sure if you have already listened/reacted to "ozzy osbourne and lita ford if i close my eyes forever" yet but if you haven't it's a must I'm sure you will be amazed at the beautiful paired duet for the song and the message behind the song
The unnamed feeling perfectly describes the feelings I feel and can't name. I feel anxious, and I feel like I want to explode. But I don't know if it's an explosion of rage or crying. I can't keep still and I have to leave the place I'm in. I've had to pull my car over and get out before because the urge to spin my steering wheel towards a wall builds up. I've found how to manage it, but I still don't know what it is. My wife tells me I have depression and anxiety.
That point about the lack of a solo is interesting, I never thought about that. I'm not sure it was intentional though, because this whole album has no solos, but it's an interesting interpretation nonetheless. Are you familiar with the rapper Hopsin? He's done songs about his own mental health journey. I won't list all the songs that came out of his depression, I'll just mention the last 3 solo ones (because he also did Lost with NF.) I Don't Want It: this was him at his lowest, reflecting before he took a hiatus. The other two, he recorded while he was getting treatment, but he waited a while before he released them. He also put out an announcement telling his fans that he wasn't in that place any more, and reaching out to anyone who was. Your House: all about growing up in an abusive home and the way it affects you in life. Alone With Me: this one is him voicing his inner critic. There's a lot of self-doubt, suicide comes up, then it ends on a Sadghuru quote.
St. Anger was never well received as a whole because of the overall tone set by the “tin can” sounding drums. The significance went right over most people’s heads. It wasn’t just a turbulent time for James going through rehab, it was a rough time for all 3 left in the band when they recorded it. There was an artistic statement made here that apparently only those of us sensitive enough could comprehend. Most others? Pretty much hated it. I get it.
This is my FAVOURITE song from that bad album as it is actually their deepest and most painful song. I know every song and could play most of them on drums, bass etc and have never played them on some of those instruments. I know their songs so well, that it is in my flesh! Adding the skillz of playing instruments adds another layer to appreciating all their songs, even their worst.
@@Guywithnoidentity I have the CD Single! I have all the singles, as in REAL CDs not a fkn itunes crapple download!I even have the VHS single for Hero of the Day!!!
There’s a band with a couple of albums of songs normalizing discussing mental health, and I’ve never seen anyone react to them. Icon for Hire. With TH-cam videos for Happy Hurts, Supposed to Be, Under the Knife (anti mutilation), Hollow, Too Loud, and more. I think they’d be a good fit for you and your channel
James Hetfield, the singer, was coming out of alcohol rehab at the time of this album. He brought a lot of his experience through this album. And yet, it's one of the most hated albums they've made, even though it shows so much sincerity compared to the group's rather feoid atmosphere in 2002.
"lose myself in a crowded room was that lyric that made this song a poem for me in 2005. It still beats today. I just don't understand if there are masks on people, or they are genuine. The most lonely feeling, around a group, and just wanting to be alone
You need to listen to Perth by Bon Iver. This song was written about Heath Ledger after Ben Harper spoke to the band about their friendship. A truly amazing song.
A band suggestion, more likely album suggestion: Fit For A King - The Hell We Create. A lot of the songs deal with the lead singers adopted kids, who have trauma from their biological parents. Two songs stick out for me - "Reaching Out" and "What You Left Behind". Beautiful lyrics, some from his perspective as a parent and some from their perspective as kids. Also, get back on that Killswitch Engage train and listen to "This is Absolution". Such a positive, uplifting song that talks in grand view of eternity, whether you believe that is religious or the eternal place you have in peoples mind, up to you. Such a beautiful song. Also "This Fire Burns". Title says all you need to know.
Really enjoying your reactions Amanda. This is widely regarded as their worst album, but I'm now starting to view it in a very different light. I'd love you to react to Inamorata from their latest album. 20 years on from St Anger, it is an epic masterpiece ✊🤘🔥
For me the Unnamed feeling was actually ADHD. For years I was being "treated" with anxiety, but because I'd feel anxious for literally no reason, and therapy didn't help other than breathing techniques, ADHD was struly an unnamed feeling. Not everyone has ADHD but when you get older, you also realise how many adults are walking around in a fog, unable to focus, feeling anxious and depressed for no real reason. For some of us it's actually ADHD making us feel this way, making the brain overactive. The brain gets so bored from lack of dopamine that it goes off on it's own journey. maybe that's why anxiety and depression are linked to substance abuse issues, the brain is looking for something to keep it entertained, to be "doing something" and when it can't focus, it'll try and focus on EVERYTHING, including unhelpful things... like that thing you said 10 years ago that you wish you never said... or that then that didn't happen, but it MIGHT... because sometimes the brain is so bored that it starts trying to predict the future and it's trying to predict how others will act and think about us... and that's where the anxiety kinda kicks in. Getting diagnosed and treated for ADHD gave me some relieving focus. I very rarely have intrusive, my mind very rarely wanders off into unhelpful territories... and sure, I still try and predict what may or may not happen... but I also have washing to do, I have cleaning to do, I don't have enough time to actually think about the what ifs and mights and unknowns... that's the beauty of medication (for some) it gives me that focus and clarity, that fog drifts away. I think a lot of people who suffer especially with Bipolar are ACTUALLY ADHD... that's why some Bipolar people struggle a lot with treatment and often find themselves "relapsing" in their depression . But now that my meds have kicked in this morning... I'm really noticing how much I would in the past, relate to those lyrics. I've loved this song for over a decade now. I just saw your video randomly suggested and figured I'd see how you react to this song, which got me thinking and wanting to share. Hope your journey in life goes well this year.
Also, fun fact... it's my meds that helped me be able to focus and pinpoint exactly what I wanted to say and what I was feeling... which is a struggle when you suffer with ADHD diagnosed for decades.
This song hits too close to home with me I have an unnamed feeling that haunts me night and day when the voices in my head become too loud and I don't know who to talk to about it bc I have a strong mistrust for therapists and at the same time I can't confide in friends too often bc I've been stabbed in the back too many times
No. Your body is not falling down. It's just the snare. You were just doing the expression everybody did when they heard it for the first time. On the other hand the bridge riff is so damn good.
It's very good watch to you react some videos. You can react to the new Metallica song Screaming Suicide? Is a different vision of this subject, but it's interesting. Be well and take care.
I thank you for doing this metallica song I been a huge metallica fan for a few long years could you do screaming suicide it's off their new album Cumming out in April metallicas music helps me a lot
St. Anger is a very underrated album. It was a huge departure from their traditional sound. You could say it was experimental. For the most part I'd say it worked. Once I got over how weird it sounded, I really appreciated how unique and fresh it was compared to their previous efforts. This is one of the best songs on the album.
Everyone (essentially) rightfully beats up on this album, but to me this has remained a bright spot from it. The concept of st anger is actually pretty profound. It really like this song. It's very honest.
A great and underrated song from St. Anger! I really love the live version "From the studio"... James voice there gives me chills every time I hear it (th-cam.com/video/4XF_0QOwahw/w-d-xo.html). After seeing Some Kind of Monster I respect St. Anger more, it was an album that was required to happen to keep Metallica together. Hope you have a nice day Amanda 🤘
Another great review and insight on an amazing song. You have definitely helped me out in my journey of life. Keep up the great work! You’re absolutely beautiful!!!
Metallica was on the brink of breaking up during the st.anger album. James hetfield was trying to get his life together. Lars wasn't trying to understand.rob was new and kept out and Kirk just wanted to be the peace Maker. But James hetfield kept his family together got out of rehab finished the album. But it shows in st.anger witch isn't there Best effort. But this is a bright spot on the album
Hey could u react to screaming suicide?? It's also a really good song about suicide the first time hearing it got me back to so many memories and emotions and it was really a rollercoaster, I even cried lol. It's a really good song I would be very happy to see what you have to say

@@Defensive_Wounds you obviously dont have the St Anger album
@@Guywithnoidentity nop this is a album that fans and band want to forget , beside this reload is a master piece
"lose myself in a crowded room
was that lyric that made this song a poem for me in 2005.
It still beats today.
I just don't understand if there are masks on people, or they are genuine.
The most lonely feeling, around a group, and just wanting to be alone
That lyric reminded me of Alone by Suicidal Tendencies. But this song…I can’t recall another that captures a feeling.
You need to listen to Perth by Bon Iver. This song was written about Heath Ledger after Ben Harper spoke to the band about their friendship.
A truly amazing song.
I think you should give these 2 a listen.
Arch Enemy - Reason to believe.
Floor Jansen - Invincible.
1 second into the video. Just want to say, this is the most powerful song. This is pure therapy by itself.
This song and I have a long history of understanding one another
This song reaches a place in my soul no other song has
A band suggestion, more likely album suggestion: Fit For A King - The Hell We Create.
You can share with us :)We're here for you.
New song Screaming Suicide. James lyrics AMAZING!
This song. This song hits me harder every time I visit it.
No. Your body is not falling down. It's just the snare. You were just doing the expression everybody did when they heard it for the first time. On the other hand the bridge riff is so damn good.
May I suggest bring me home by Whitechapel, the emotion the song radiates shreds the soul

YOU SHOULD DO SCREAMOING SUICIDE its an inportant subject and I think u could add a lot to the conversation
On of my favorite healing Metallica songs . Fixxxer is another you should check out.
you should definitely do a reaction to their brand new song "Screaming Suicide" and see James Hetfield's statement about it
Have you heard the song how could you leave us by NF?
You did the Short version
Definitely "Screaming Suicide" needs to be the next one!
everyone who is a metalhead hates this album. I love it. This is literally therapy in an album.
I would love to see your reaction to "Lonely Day" by System of a Dawn. Great song.
Everyone (essentially) rightfully beats up on this album, but to me this has remained a bright spot from it. The concept of st anger is actually pretty profound. It really like this song. It's very honest.
Hi Amanda!
Do you know NF’s musics? He is a great artist! I think you will find some really interesting piece of arts there.
Here is a reaction to NF th-cam.com/video/XKJfS5Eu36I/w-d-xo.html
Aw the song was edited... this is my fav from St. Anger.
Hi amanda, please check out floor jansens (nightwish, you know…) new Song „invincible“ about ptsd. I guess you would like it! 🤘
This song felt to me like grief.
Hey Amanda, could you react to the song by Blutengel called Not My Home? I think you'll like it.
Screaming Suicide is a new Metallica song you could react to 🤟🤘💛❤️
You should do riptide by autumn kings
St. Anger is very misunderstood. A lot of people just look at it from a musical standpoint but the meaning behind it is some of Metallica’s best imo.
You need to do Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward
Criminally underrated song.
😲😲😲 u Look awesome 👍👍 for person who suffering from Mental health issues. Just imagine what I'm going through 23 YEARS IN CORPS and 8WARS

Defintely from Saint Anger you can tell by the snare
Can you do Strife by Trivium?
